Kathy is amazing. Even though the salon shuts at 5 on Saturdays, she stayed in till 6 to complete my hair color and cut. As I was getting my hair colored for the first time, I was very skeptical. Not only did she give me the perfect color, she made sure I was happy with it and it suited me. Absolutely loved it! Will definitely go again. Just hoping the color stays. I just got it done today.

One star. Only because they use organic hair color. I was hoping this to be a five star experience but the customer service, or the lack of it thereof, has made me arrive to a decision that I will never return.
Jodi, who colored my hair seemed completely distracted while doing her job. She did not answer any of my questions properly even after telling her I was coloring my hair for the first time. She pulled my hair while washing and coloring. She also had her dog follow her (and me) everywhere. While blowdrying my hair, she was so carelessly looking out the window that she hit me with the dryer. After telling her what she had done, she said sorry-​very unapologetically.
Overall, I find this behavior unacceptable. The poor review is only because of how careless and irresponsible this person was.

Jodi is a true artist!!! I have been getting hair extensions for over 7 years at top salons in NYC like Oscar Blandi, John Barrett etc. but no one did them as well as Jodi. What I love about her is that she thinks outside the box. For instance, she specifically explained that she was going to place the extension in a diagonal position instead of straight because of the shape of my face and the type of haircut I wanted (I am going for the Caroline Standbury cut from Ladies of London). In the past other stylist just robotically put my extensions in without thinking outside the box. All my friends and family are telling me that this is the best they have ever seen my hair and you know what I have 2 agree.

Jodi is the best! Went from years of regular bleach and countless keratin treatments to finally discovering better results at this organic salon. Prices are good too!!! Jodi is phenomenal! I will never go back to my old salon :)

Color was good though lighter than expected.

This is my go to place now. I have to admit, I was never very loyal to salons. I took whatever Groupon or Lifebooker deal I found and visited a new salon every other month. Those days are over now that I have found Soon Dar Secrets and specifically, Karrie, who is AMAZING! I was curious every time I walked by since I am big into the whole organic movement, and it also looked very clean and inviting. As soon as you walk in you feel comfortable and everyone who works there is super friendly. I love the fact that the products don’t fry your hair or possibly wreak havoc on your body from the chemicals. Karrie has done amazing things with my hair. After my wedding, I wanted to chop my hair but wasn’t sure what I wanted. She suggested a longish bob, longer in the front, with a chocolate singe color. Absolutely loved and got a ton of compliments. Most recently I went in to get a fresh summer look with some blond highlights similar to a photo I saw. She offered a couple suggestions without being pushy. I went with her recommendations and couldn’t be happier. She did bayalage highlights in a warm honey/​apricot color. My husband cant stop complimenting me on my new do and many compliments from friends. If you want an unpretentious salon that cares about customers, won’t try to upsell you and uses the highest quality products, then check it out! Thanks Karrie, xoxo.

If dry cleaners can do it, it only seems appropriate that beauty salons can too. Enter Salon by Soon Dar, Hoboken’s only all organic beauty destination, featuring hair cut and color services, manis/​pedis, and waxing.
I walked into the large, uncluttered salon on a weekday afternoon and was warmly greeted by Jodi. She promptly shampooed and sat me down for a consult. There was no judgement when I confessed I hadn’t had a cut in nearly a year. We collaborated on a plan of action, and she got to work on cleaning up the ends and adding face framing and volume inducing long layers, chatting cordially all the while in her charming British accent. It was a really great haircut. After the cut she gave me an amazing blow out. It ruined my evening gym plans. Seriously, who would mess up a fantastic blowout by breaking a sweat? But I felt pretty spiffy whilst feeling up some avocados at the grocery store later.
The salon has sent me a few emails since (not so many as to be annoying), apprising me of in-​store beauty events (bring in your make up bag and an aesthetician will suggest products to enhance it) and promotions on specific treatments. My commitment to beauty isn’t that serious (haircut once a year, duh), and even I think these are cool services to offer clients. Soon Dar IS organic, and they promote that fact vigorously. More importantly, they are a top quality salon offering exclusive services featuring talented professionals. I enjoyed coming here so much, maybe it’s time to up my beautification regimen.

So many fabulous things about this salon. The atmosphere is great. Its comfortable, relaxing, and good people.
Jodi has been styling my hair now for almost a year and she has done it right every time! She investigates & really listens to what you are looking for & makes it happen. I always feel fabulous walking out of there. My fiancé also goes to get his hair done by Jodi and he always feels like a million bucks with his new cut.
So Jodi is pretty much all around one talented & just a great human being. She can cut, color, & style men & women’s hair.

I came in with one intention in mind: a new look. I didn’t have any specifics in mind and gave Karrie all the freedom to be creative. She not only gave me a fantastic cut, but gave new life to my old perm that was weighed down by my long hair. And she was very clear in describing her every move. Thank you. The only reason I am giving ⁴⁄₅ is that the price is steep. Otherwise, great place, great people.

When I moved to the area in 2011, I was still traveling hours to New Hope to get my hair done by the woman who’d done my hair for years. Yes, I am extremely picky about who touches my locks– they’re my pride and joy. Karrie was recommended to me by a friend, (at the time she was at another salon in Hoboken) so I took a leap of faith and let her cut AND color my hair (we did an ombré/​partial highlight/​balayage hybrid that worked with my budget which came out AMAZING). Needless to see I’ve never been back to see my past hairstylist because Karrie is a goddess! Super attentive, extremely talented, and always works with you to achieve what you want for your budget. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had people stop me on the street to compliment my hair cut/​color and ask where I’ve had it done. Even better, is that now she’s at The Salon, where they use amazing natural organic products which make your hair sooo healthy and look super beautiful. Karrie is AMAZING, I’ve been her client for 2 years and she’s the only stylist I trust to color and cut my hair. My natural hair color is black, and she’s taken it to a perfect bayalage ashy blonde, without it looking brassy or yellow. She explains everything as she goes, so you have a better understanding of what exactly needs to be done in order to get the results you want (even if it takes several processes and a couple of hours in the chair). I just recently asked her to chop off 17 inches of my hair into a long bob and I LOVE it. Go to Karrie because she’s super friendly and keeps it real with your expectations.
The Salon uses organic products that don’t leave your hair wreaking of chemicals. It’s absolutely life changing, and I don’t ever want to go back to regular hair dye again. The prices are average for a Hoboken salon, but it’s worth it for the quality of the products they use. Highly recommended!

Hadn’t had my hair cut in a long time! It was a hot mess! I called and scheduled an appointment with someone who I had been following her instagram account, @jodigoodacre, and loved her work! I was so happy when I found out she would now be located at this cute all organic salon around the block from where I live. I heard great things about the salon and now this was even more of a reason to try it out! I called and booked an appointment as soon as I could with Jodi!
Jodi was awesome, she did such a great job listening to what I wanted and exceeding those wishes! Her Instagram account matched up to her work! She took her time cutting and and blowing out my hair. I never felt rushed like I did with my last hairdresser! I have had so many people compliment me on how healthy and shiny my hair looks now. It feels 100 times better and I will most definitely be booking with her again!

I recently went to the salon looking for a Mani/​Pedi that was more relaxing than your regular run of the mill Hoboken nail salon. I chose the «signature» mani pedi. The atmosphere is really great, very calm and soothing. The owner offered me organic green tea which was a plus. However the chairs for the manicure were hard backed wooden chairs which were not comfortable at all. The pedicure chair is like a oversized plush chair. It’s not a massage chair that most salons have, but I typically don’t use that feature anyway.
Onto the actual service, the products used were very really nice. Everything smelled wonderful and were definitely more luxurious than you typically find. However I thought there could have been more time spent on the scrubbing and massage aspects — that’s the best part. Also the technician applied pretty thin coats of polish that my nails were showing through. And after less than 3 full days… lots of chips. Had to take it all off. Definitely disappointed in that aspect. Finally when its time to dry, they don’t have a real station for that. There is a chair next to a big table that you put 1 hand in a UV box at a time and they stick a tiny table fan in front of your feet. Its really at an awkward angle and again in a hard backed wooden chair.
Overall a fair experience, but not sure if I’ll go back.

Great experience at the Salon by SoonDar recently. It’s a clean, airy and sparse place — not drowning in clutter like many salons in Hoboken.
My stylist was Franceso and he was fantastic to work with — an expert with the hair, both cut & color and made the entire experience pleasant & painless.
A single process starts at $ 80 and haircuts are $ 90 — approximately 10−15% higher than the average salon in Hoboken depending on what you choose. What sets Soon Dar apart, is that they use only organic color and non toxic products.
I love the «shape» Francesco has given me and hope it stays and maintains the movement and flow after I go through a couple of washes at home.
The Salon By Soon Dar Secrets is a full service salon and I’ll update this review once I try out some of their other services like the mani-​pedi.

Finally found our go-​to-​guy. Francesco gave my husband, daughter and myself beautiful cuts — or ‘shapes’ as Francesco prefers to call it. He’s highly skilled and artful without being pretentious. We like his style and the shop has a very nice vibe. My daughter also enjoyed the dedicated and rather designy kids play room while she waited for us to get done.

I came hair for a hair cut and manicure. Maria cut my hair and she did an amazing job! She had such an upbeat attitude I couldn’t help but smile. She made me feel very comfortable and I have already gotten so many compliments on my hair. Pooja did my manicure and it was OUTSTANDING! I’ve never felt so relaxed getting
pampered before. It was a great experience. Great ambiance. Everything you could ever want or need in a salon!

I chose this place because they use John Masters (organic!) products which is a big plus in my book! (There’s another hair salon in Hoboken that claims it uses organic products but I Googled the hell out of their products and it’s not.) They don’t do chemical treatments here even though there’s so much money in it so I know they stand by their integrity of keeping the salon organic.
First thing I noticed as soon as I walked in was that it didn’t have the death fumes of nail polish and hairspray. It’s a very open airy space which I love.
Francesco is a master of the art of hair. He cut my hair for movement, for flow, for beauty and most important that I can have it look like that when I get home! He walks you through the process of what he’s doing and provides helpful tips on how to keep your locks gorgeous.
I have an appointment scheduled for coloring in a couple weeks. Will update my review then.

The Salon by Soon Dar Secrets is a clean, and serene Salon. The minute you walk in you feel right at home. It’s Hoboken’s 1^st clean air salon, which separates it from the rest. The colors are vibrant, and peaceful. The staff is fantastic and welcoming. The owner Pooja works hard and goes out of her way to make sure your Salon experience is an unforgettable one. The products are all organic so you’re guaranteed to avoid those unwanted chemicals and toxins.
I highly recommend The Salon, it’s a unique concept in Hoboken.

I’m a fan of Francesco and his creative style of cutting. I’ve been going to him for the past couple of years and I can’t thank him enough for taking my dull thick long Asian hair (think horse’s mane) and gave it nice long layers without it looking heavy.
I’m looking forward to visiting his new spot and getting a cut soon.
