The tortilla soup is my favorite. I would go there just for this flavorful bowl of soup with the chunks of fresh avocado and tortilla chips. If you have a stuffy nose, bring your tissues and order this soup. It will clear you right up.

I found the food to be very good. However it took a very very long time to get our meal. Which came out cold and took forever to get our food.

I think this place may be showing signs of going-down-hill. Bored, uninterested staff and just a sad, languid vibe permeating the place. The only decent thing about this restaurant is the guak that they make in front of you during dinner hours. The food is Okay, not terrible, just not outstanding. I have a feeling it wont last much longer especially in Holden. Hopefully they spruce things up a bit to compete with the other restaurants in the area

Just started coming here and no problems yet. Some of the food is not super authentic but that is not super surprising since it is in the middle of MA. If you want authentic, read the descriptions thoroughly and you will find it! Guacamole is very good and so are the margaritas!

Really? Sometimes you wonder why you try new places. I love Mexican food, I personally even love taco bell, judge if you must. Let the experience begin. I order the Santa fe BEEF burrito. Comes with guacamole and sour cream on the inside, how could you go wrong, right? Half way through the burrito I decide to search for the ground beef, nonexistent! We let the waitress know saying I did order a beef burrito correct? Not her fault, yes I had, no more than five minutes go bye I’ve got a fresh burrito, siked! !! First couple of bites, cool this is what I was expecting, then I chomp on a half inch piece of unpeeled onion, really? Come on. I open the rest of the burrito to possibly avoid another unpleasant encounter only to find a hair!!! Now I shave my head, and have a two foot grey beard. How does a 1 inch black hair get onto my plate? Appetite lost I tell the waitress, explaining that it’s obviously not her fault. She says they have a new cook and he said he put beef in my first burrito. Ya ok. She comes to us with the check and says they took 50% off of the burrito. Really? Wrong food/hair in food/ordered three drinks, 50% off of your mistake and uncleanliness. Right!!! Avoid this place, dissapointed, because I LOVE Mexican food and lost another possible place to enjoy it

Awesome Margaritas! Food is average and prices are little high for what amounts to diner quality grub. Service is always very good though. Con — they have messed up our order all 3 times we’ve been there. Pro — they are always quick to fix it and add freebies. Hope they last in a locale we locals swear is cursed for restaurants.

Last few times I’ve come to the Mexicali the food quality and service has been above average. I like the atmosphere her and it always seems to have something going on which usually livens up the place.

I ordered the Atlantic Burrito and my husband the Arroz con Pollo. My dish was satisfactory although the seafood ingredients were mashed together as if they had used leftover fish, shrimp or scallops. My husband’s dish was inedible, the dark brown sauce tasted as if it had been made with beef buillion. The server was very helpful and brought out another dish for him that was all right but not terribly flavorful. Love the Mexicali Grill in Spencer but sadly don’t think we’ll be back to this one.

I go to many Mexican food places and this place beats almost all of them. I had seafood chimichanga and it was delicious! I finished my food… I rarely ever finish all my food! Really nice waiting staff and good for families. They have a bar and TV for those liking to watch sports. Definitely coming back.

I like the menu options. Good variety but the food is on the bland side for Mexican. I had the fiesta burrito. Overall good. Salsa is mild but flavorful. Service is slow.

I went there on Friday. I love fajitas so I was pleased to see that they had sizzling fajitas. I ordered one for 13 bucks. There was nothing sizzling or fajita about it. All they did was part boil frozen veggies and put them on a fajita plate, they didn’t even add seasoning. I won’t be back ever.

I’ve been here a few times because it’s close to family and one of the few places that serves food late in Holden. If that weren’t the case, I’m not sure I’d keep going back. The service is usually just okay, and less-than-okay during peak dining hours. The free chips and salsa aren’t bad. The guacamole is average. The menu has pretty standard choices for an «authentic» Mexican restaurant that’s catering to clientele who have never had authentic Mexican food. The veggie fajitas(which I foolishly order every time) are disappointing. By the time I’ve finished eating, the vegetables and the dark, sweet, sticky sauce that they are cooked in are burned to the skillet they were served on. And the vegetables are mix of onions, peppers, and what looks to be the very same frozen peas, carrots, and lima beans that I have in my freezer right now. I’ve never been disappointed in the margaritas, which is why this place earns 2 stars from me instead of 1.

No wait to be seated, nice atmosphere, drinks were great, food was very good. Where this place lacks is service. Our waiter literally just dropped things off at the table and walked away. Never came back to check if things were ok, walked by numerous times but could have cared less. I don’t know if they were understaffed or what, but service was so poor we won’t be returning.

Absolutely the worst. Food is terrible. Vegetables weren’t fresh. Rice was microwaved. Sauces lacked any kind of Mexican flavor. Can’t believe they’re still open.

I like this place. Great drink selection, good food, easy parking. Nice décor that reminds me of Mexico, friendly wait staff as well. I don’t really know why it’s getting a lower ranking than I expected cuz all my visits there have been very pleasant. I would definitely recommend the Guacamole Dip, they actually make it right in front of you into a stone bowl, which also offers u the opportunity to customize your own flavor. Also looks really fresh and authentic.

Went here today for lunch and a few margaritas with my boyfriend and a friend. The food and drinks were fantastic and the bartenders were so friendly and fun! I’ll definitely be back soon.

What can I say? We love the food. We love the drinks. The service is pleasant and fun. Especially at the bar! You won’t find a better place in the area for good Mexican food.

Great place. Food & atmosphere are solid. Not sure why I’m seeing some negative reviews. I visit this establishment often. It’s good.

Good Mexican for New England. Had better in Flagstaff, but not in Central Massachusetts. Very good guacamole dip, excellent Black Jack margaritas; makes a meal in itself. Service is always excellent.

Literally the worst food I’ve ever had. It’s like they’ve decided to create a faux-Mexican restaurant where they won’t even try to make it seem like there’s actual Mexican food there. The chips are perpetually soggy. Do yourself a favor and go to Bocado or Mezcal in Worcester. Seriously though.
