Its OK, coffee is pretty good. I like the avocado toast. But hey its a coffee shop, dont know what they have to do to rate higher…

3 Cups is a newish coffee shop located in Holladay. They specialize is local coffee and pastries and reminds me of coffee shops in the Bay Area. They feature coffee from Blue Copper, La Barba, and Publik. All of these coffees can be used for various types of drinks(e.g. pour over, cortado, espresso, latte). Since the summer is in full swing they also have cold brew on nitro which is amazing. They also have hot and cold tea. I can recommend all of these especially the pour over, cold brew, and cortado. They also sell coffee by the bag, brewing equipment, and their own gear. While the coffee is similar to the shops of the roasters they carry, the pastries and food is creative, fun, and delicious. They have their homemade gelato which often features local alcohol like Highwest Whiskey. I had an amazing Caramel Highwest gelato. 3 Cups has an amazing egg and bacon or spinach tart that I would highly recommend. I can also recommend the brioche and toast. Pastries are all made in house and are some of the best in the Salt Lake City area. The space that 3 Cups occupies has a modern feel with Eames like furniture. There is plenty of communal space, group tables, and booths. The parking is in the back and plentiful. They have wifi and plenty of power ports. There are other options around the area such as Taqueria 27, Copper Kitchen, and Caputos if you need an after meal coffee or just want to browse around. They have a farmers market in front of 3 Cups on Saturdays. It seems that 3 Cups is the place to be on Saturdays and you will likely see me their. Grab a pastries and your favorite coffee drink at 3 Cups and maybe I will see you.

Terrible service! The girl who made my drink had so much attitude! I ordered a short Americano, asked for a lot of room, she added my shots then filled the entire cup up to the brim, she caught herself and said«oh that’s not room» so she dumped out a bunch of the espresso to make room. I kindly said, «you just dumped out a bunch of the espresso» She rolled her eyes and said, «Fine! I’ll make you a new One» and looked at her co worker and made a comment. She was very put out, and in the end I left unhappy, bad service and the espresso shot she pulled was bad as well! Drink tastes like watery cardboard coffee! No good!!! This girl wasn’t not trained properly!!!

I went to 3 Cups today for the first time. The young man at the counter was up selling like mad. Good for him. I’m sure he would have provided diagrams and a PowerPoint if he thought it would increase sales. I ordered hot chocolate. It was neither hot nor chocolate. I took a sip of tasteless foam and could not imagine this was representative of the entire cup. It was. Swiss Miss is monumentally better, and I’ve had no desire to drink that since I was nine. The booth I sat in had greasy smears on the dividing wall, and the tables and chairs looked like IKEA wannabes. Next time, I’ll just set four bucks on fire and save myself the trip.

I had dinner in the area with my girlfriends on a Friday night. We were hoping to find a treat and a coffee to end the night catching up. Wow, what an amazing find! The atmosphere is very open, but they have a great design with some secluded tables for conversation. The gelato spread is amazing. The flavor profiles were so impressive. Vanilla, passion fruit, honey, lemon, basil… I can’t remember them all. They were so delicious and we can’t wait to go back for some more gelato. I had a caramel Latte and a piece of their hazelnut mocha cake. Everything was just amazing. Great service and such kind guys behind the counter. They were very sweet to our group and we really appreciated their kindness. They went above and beyond! I would highly recommend this place. We are looking forward to having another girl’s date there. It really is a great place. We look forward to trying more of the menu next time. Keep up the fantastic work. Great great experience for us!

Cute but Pricey. Reminds me of La Barba downtown. Good, bold cup of coffee but your wallet’s been warned. I love this plaza and area of Holladay, maybe I’ll try again.

Need a wifi-place to study with spacious seating? Need a kid-friendly place with a variety of treats? Need a pick-me-upper drank? Need a place to go to when you really should be at home because of a snow storm? If you need any of these listed above, 3 Cups is for you. If you do not need any of these listed above, 3 cups is still for you. While it was hailing snow dangerously outside, my friend and I decided it was a good idea to go study at a coffee shop. Almost nearly dying and getting stuck on the ramp up to the parking lot, we made it to 3 Cups. We ordered a vanilla soy latte, smoked salmon, and an acai bowl. Please do not judge me, fellow healthy-acai-fruit-blend-bowls-withatypeofnutorgranolatopping Unilocalers, but this was my first time having one and it was sure yummy! The latte and smoked salmon was delicious as well. The only down side was the house pickled veggies(way way too acidic) and location. I wish this place was closer to my house so that I could frequent more. –Sailor out

This has quickly become my favorite coffee shop, which is no small feat. This is why: 1. Quality coffee and a simple menu. All coffees in mugs come with a tiny coin-sized, house-made, buttery shortbread cookie — I’ve had a spiced one and one with little chopped apricots. Such a sweet touch. A little pricey — $ 2.25 for a small drip — but this place has such ambiance and quality service that I don’t even hesitate. 2. House-made baked goods — I pretty much come just for these and I don’t even really like sweets very much. They are the best baked goods around, always with new options, and I’ve never been disappointed. The oatmeal cookie with sesame seeds was buttery and a perfect mix of crispy/chewy. The fluffy brioche has the perfect amount of dark chocolate inside. And there are always options that aren’t too sweet, which is nice for me. They also have gelato, oatmeal with toppings like granola and berries, acai bowls with granola and fresh fruit, and smørrebrød(crisp bread with smoked trout, green olive, caper spread and house pickles) which all sound amazing and I must try sometime. 3. Excellent service with friendly and helpful staff. They always have a recommendation about the baked goods(so helpful that they know their products!) and most of them are super friendly. Low snootiness in a nice coffee shop, which is hard to find these days. 4. Comfortable, classy, airy café with tons of seating and outlets. It feels restful, not stressful, to spend time here alone or meet friends. Lots of space so you don’t feel too close to other patrons and I’ve never had to search for seats(in nice weather there is patio seating in front and in back). Clean restrooms. Downtown Holladay is fast becoming a destination I prefer away from busy downtown — there is plenty of parking and it feels like a small town main street. So cute. I get little bubbles of joy when I get an afternoon to relax in their lovely shop and see what amazing new baked goods are on display, and I always suggest to my friends that we meet here. Love it!

Does my pictures of their food and drinks look delicious? However there is a huge difference between the taste and look. The pastry is so so and the shell is kind soft. The acai berry tasted freezer-burned. My homemade chai didn’t have much spices in it. My husband said his latte tasted weak. Maybe I will be back for the Gelato when it is warmer because I heard Vinto’s Gelato maker left Vinto and make it at 3 Cups now.

An ideal coffee shop experience – a solid selection of local roasters, a few food offerings, and pleasant ambiance. The café is modern and minimalist, with stylish furnishings and plenty of places to sit. I loved the oversized booths, and parked myself there for a few hours to get some work done. Very few places offer such an optimal spot to work! Friendly staff, too. Will definitely be back and will recommend to others!

If you’re going to drink coffee, you need to drink GOOD coffee. One of my many wise life lessons is as follows: Don’t ever let yourself believe that you deserve McDonalds McCafe coffee. Reward yourself, and let 3 Cups help guide your way. 3 Cups sprouted up in Holladay after a phase of my life ended there… so this cute little location had been on my list to try for a while now. I had my reservations, as I’m not in the general vicinity any more, and honestly… it’s such a drive for a cup of coffee. Another life lesson for you: Learn from my mistake NOW. Start walking out the door, and head down/up/over/around to 3 Cups STAT! Preferably, NOW, before they close at 8pm(if you’re reading this on a weekday) or 9pm/6pm(depending on if it’s Sat/Sun)!!! On an outing with my best friend, we decided to extend our #Saturdate down to 3 Cups. When walking in, we were immediately overwhelmed with the gorgeous display of in-house baked goods, and colorful gelatos. They had a special Chocolate Peppermint layer cake, and because it was our hot Saturdate, we of course got one to share. Knowing that the cake was going to put me down, I ordered a simple drip coffee, while my best friend went for a cappuccino with added caramel flavoring. The drip coffee [From Blue Copper Coffee in SLC] was amaazzing and came with a cute lemon-poppy seed biscuit. Once getting her cappuccino(with a caramelly looking poppy seed biscuit), my friend described it as one of the best one’s she had ever had. The coffee was not burned at all, it had a nice creamy consistency, and the caramel flavor-shot perfectly accented the drink without being overbearing. The Chocolate Peppermint cake was, as you would imagine, painfully good. The peppermint flavor was also not overpowering in the least, and was the perfect mix with the chocolate cake. The slice was ginormous, and though the two of us split it, we could not finish it together. I, of course, had to ask about the Gelato; if it was made in-house, or from a mix. The employee was annoyed to answer my question, but did so with a simple«It’s made in house». As soon as I sat back down, a woman — who I presume to be the owner? — came over to talk with me more about the Gelato, which was a really nice aspect to our stop in 3 Cups. I enjoyed being able to talk with her in more depth about the menu items they had(I also took this opportunity to ask about the baked goods), especially after the brush-off attitude I got(twice) from the employee. She asked if I wanted to try any of the gelato flavors, and had I not just consumed less than half of the Chocolate Peppermint layer cake, and had I not been feeling the extensive amount of sugar coursing through my veins, I would have tried some no questions asked. $ 2 for a scoop of house-made gelato? That’s insane deal prices, man. I am very excited to go back and try some more of the baked goods that 3 Cups has to offer — especially the savory ones. The set up inside is very simple, with a very modern feel, and the bulk of everything being white. I love the simplicity of it, and can see this being a nice study spot in the future, or an adult-late-night-hangout joint on Saturdays.

Really friendly staff. Large space. Not a lot of parking in the front. More parking in the back. Coffees come with small biscuits(ours were cranberry with nuts). The mocha was one of the best I’ve had. Though note that this is not on the menu. My husband liked the black coffee. The avocado toast was really delicious. The bread was toasted well and not soggy from the topping. Reasonably priced.

Go for the pastries as Amber is a genius. Try the brownies, scones, breakfast pastry with an egg cracked in the middle, lemon cake. I could go on, and on and on. That girl can bake. Then stay for some delicious coffee or hot chocolate or gelato. I love the summer choice of half granita and half cold brew. 3 Cups cold brew is some of the best and I was raised on Silver Bean’s cold brew which is excellent. The hot chocolate is made with homemade chocolate sauce, I saw them whipping some up a week or so ago. Again, well made and yummy! The place has a great vibe and very long communal table. I love that. Jeremy has done a wonderful job and Amber, well, she rocks everything she bakes.

Uhm yes please. This is the only other coffee joint I’ve found save Kaffe Mercantile that has great ambiance and KICKASS espresso. Holy bananas. I always run new coffee joints through the Americano test and this one passed with flying colors. And gelato to boot? Their scones, along with essentially everything else, we’re made in house and knocked my socks off. Please sir, may I have some more?

A hip addition to Holladay. High end coffee and expertly made pastries. The savory tart is a great way to start your morning with a mix of cheese, egg, and veggies. I’ve been forgoing coffee for a while and instead opted for their blue tea which was a perfect blend of floral and black tea, not too sweet and not too bitter. My mama tried the macchiato which I sampled and it was a rich heavenly coffee drink. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5? Their service was seriously lacking. No one tells you that you’ll need to wait at the counter for your food. And when I had questions about the menu the wait staff stared at me blankly. I also stood at the counter for 5 minutes trying to ask for a to-go box while three staff members argued about an iced tea. At one point the barista stared at me saying something, until I realized he was still talking to his co-workers while gazing off into space. The service was disappointing but not enough to keep me away. I’m looking forward to going back and sampling their oatmeal, but this time I’ll probably keep my tip at a minimum.

This is a great coffee shop. Their beans are from Blue Bottle(LA), Blue Copper, and La Barba beans(local). They have incredible house made pastries, and gelato too! My caramel latte was so smooth and creamy. They use actual caramel sauce, not artificial caramel syrup. Most of the high end coffee shops around Salt Lake won’t even serve caramel(which is my favorite latte flavor). So I always have to get vanilla, honey, or simple syrup. Salt Lake is blessed with a great coffee scene. My six favorite shops(in alphabetical order) are: 3 Cups Bardo’s Blue Copper People’s Publik Roasters Rose Establishment You can’t go wrong with ANY of them. Now get out there. Make your day with some good coffee.

I’d like to say I don’t know when it happened but I know exactly when it did. My very first time to Intelligentsia converted me into a coffee snob. And while I do get the majority of my caffeine fix from Starbucks it’s definitely not because I think their coffee is all that great. Given the opportunity(and money) I’d pick a local upscale coffee shop any day of the week. I’m in love with all the coffee shops popping up around the valley and 3 Cups is no exception. I’ve been here a handful of times and I love it. Bright open space, clean lines, big windows, with booths, tables and a communal table/bench it’s the perfect place to hangout alone or with a group. I’m a latte girl myself and so I judge a place on that. 3 cups makes an exceptionally good one. It’s a tad on the too hot side but not tongue burning hot. Smooth and creamy I could take it with or without sweetener. I’ve had sips of Jeremy’s pour overs and they’re always well done. This last time I went I got an Afoggato — two shots of espresso poured over their house made gelato. Let me tell you it was heaven in a cup. I chose the vanilla and cinnamon gelato which was creamy and sweet and had just the perfect amount of each flavor. It blended perfectly with the espresso. They had about 6 flavors of gelato to choose from and you can also get it by the scoop or pint. All their coffees come with a tiny shortbread cookie. It’s such a nice touch. In addition to their coffee they have a great selection of loose leaf tea and other drinks. My girls love their vanilla steamers. They also have a nice toast selection and a great made in house pastry case. Everything we’ve tried has been phenomenal. I don’t know that I could pick just one to recommend. My kids loved the lemon meyer cake, I adored the lavender pear scone(a real scone not a utah scone, it wasn’t dry or crumbly but perfectly moist and flavorful), and Jeremy was raving about the spinach and gruyère tart. The price is comparable to other coffee shops of their caliber but more expensive then Starbucks. You get what you pay for and this place is worth it. From the ambiance, to the food, and of course the coffee everything at 3 Cups is wonderful.
