More than worth the wait for a hair cut. Raul will take his time to cut your hair and even get to know you. Closed Saturday and Sunday. Appointments Wednesday and walk-ins the rest of the week. The hot lather shave around your neck adds that extra touch. He makes sure to not leave hair all over you after you’re squared away. That to me is a plus, you shouldn’t have to run home and shower after a cut. Overall good experience here and I will definitely return. Tip included $ 16 for a hair cut. I always tip my barbers 25%+

This man knows how to cut hair. Old school single chair barbershop that comes with good conversation and an awesome cut. I’m very particular about my haircuts and opinion about what a classic barbershop should be, and Raul met all my expectations. He took the time to find out exactly what I wanted. I get a classic mens tapered haircut but also showed him some pictures so there would be no confusion. He said thanks and that«the picture was worth a thousand words» and then proceeded to give me an awesome cut. He has this really cool retro vacuum machine that he uses to catch the hairs other barbers let fall down your shirt when they do the back of your neck and finishes everything with hot lather and a straight razor. My grandma owned a salon and used to cut my hair for years. She’s always pretty critical of my haircuts(I think its just because she’s not doing them anymore) and when I saw her after this cut she asked where I had it done. I told her and she reluctantly said«Well… its perfect.» I recently moved but highly recommend this place and will definitely stop by for a cut when I’m in town. The price is great too, I think I paid $ 15 which included a tip.

Raul is great. The last time I visited him was 15 years ago and the shop is exactly the same. I’m going to make sure I get a haircut from him every time I’m back at my parents’ house in Hollister. I can’t imagine that the prices have changed either!

When retro barber shops pop up in hip neighborhoods, this is the place they’re trying to copy. Old 49ers and boxing pictures on the wall, a price list that includes a separate charge for flat tops, and puffy old vinyl and iron barber stools. Raul is the man. He’s cut the hair of at least three generations of men and boys in this part of California. I imagine that if he cuts your hair once, he will remember you forever. After your hair is trimmed, he gets some warm Burma-shave like cream from a mechanical dispenser that hasn’t been made in 20 years and uses a straight razor to clean up your neck. The man’s hands are as steady as any surgeon’s. If you want a simple, straightforward barber shop cut and have the time, take Highway 25 out to Hollister during the week and queue up at the B & R.
