Our Lady of Fatima Shrine

This is a very special place for me. It’s a place for prayer! I like to go there and get in touch with nature and with my faith. I just wish it was more well taken care of.

Being Catholic and Portuguese, Fatima (or Virgin Mary) holds a special spot in my heart and soul. This past weekend we had the pleasure of stopping at this Shrine while passing through the area. This was the first time I have been to the Shrine and I have to say that I loved it for a few different reasons.
One, it a huge shrine with multiple walking paths and areas to pray or meditate. There were not only families walking through looking at the displays, but there were also people walking the paths and reflecting quietly. Two, the Shrine itself was well maintained and they played soothing music in ever part of the Shrine. Three, it is incredible how they constructed a massive rosary with rocks, and it was interesting to walk around the rosary and look at the prayers written in multiple languages.
Additionally, if the amazing outdoor portion isn’t enough to fill your spiritual reservoir, the church itself has gorgeous stain glass windows which were breathtaking. The church also had a great gift shop with a great staff. Finally, as an aside, the bathrooms here are clean and comfortable.
Overall, I am happy that we stopped here and I can’t wait to come back again.
