Some background — Nettwerk Music Group is a company that is both an artist management firm and an independent record label. The roster runs the gamut, with musicians of varying styles and degrees of recognition — from old-timey Nashville band Old Crow Medicine Show to Norway’s new ravers Datarock to Sarah McLachlan and Avril Lavigne, to local indies Ferraby Lionheart, The Weepies, and The Submarines. So… since I work at Nettwerk, thought I’d put this one in here. This is the third Sync location to open and operate out of a Nettwerk Music Group office building — the first opened in Vancouver and the second in Nashville. The Sync is a public space showcasing music and art in the community, at the old but recently renovated Citizen News building/Hollywood Nettwerk office on Wilcox @ Selma. Basically, when you go see a show here you’re hanging out on the main floor of a warehouse space converted into record label offices — it’s an intimate vibe, from the couches facing the stage to the help-yourself snacks and drinks at the bar. The Sync opened in January 07 and has hosted art openings and performances from Nettwerk artists and local musicians.
