What a find!!!
We just stumbled upon this place on our drive from Miami to Key West. I saw the exit sign with «Pollo Tropical» and decided to go for it.
First of all, very economical. Coming from NY and Chicago, $ 8 for a quarter slab of ribs, quarter chicken, rice, beans, breakfast bun and a drink… Absolute steal!
Second, chicken and ribs cooked beautifully. Deliciously soft chicken. Pork that comes off the bone very easily and you can cut through it with a plastic knife!
Third, the variety of sauces and dips is very interesting. LOVED the Cilantro-Garlic and Guava-BBQ!
Lastly, regularly friendly staff. No complaints.

Great food with the rude service. I love to eat chicken. I love the ribs which are so tender and full of flavor. The platanos/plantains are excellent; tastes almost like my grandmother made them. This is one of my restaurants. Glad I won’t have to visit this location again. They give military discount

Needed a little pick me up before our flight so we weren’t completely hangry around others. I’m GF so thought this place looked like a good option, as opposed to a normal fast food joint.
The food was pretty fresh and super cheap. Oh, and it came pretty fast.
We’d eat there again if in a pinch.

I initially thought it was FL’s version of the El Pollo Loco on the west coast, so I expected an easy order of Mexican grilled chicken and sides. I realized when I pulled up to the drive-thru that it was a Caribbean restaurant that also serves several items like ribs and pulled pork. I chose the trio of chicken, ribs, and pulled pork. The chicken had a great grill flavor, but the meat was a little dry. The ribs surprised me because I had really low expectations, and after adding a bit of hot sauce, the pulled pork and pickled onions made a nice sandwich with the accompanying sweet roll. The sides of black beans and white rice was tasty, but I’ll skip the waffle fries next time.
For fast food you could do a lot worse, and it’s a nice break from the standard options, but you can’t really eat the platters in the car. It’s a pretty good value too.
