A «real food» restaurant. Fun atmosphere and always a friendly staff. We especially like the old pictures on the wall and old radios scattered around the restaurant. We go there when you’ve had too much fast food or need a good«home cooked» meal. The cinnamon rolls are scrumptious. Always a good experience.

Food was good and prices are reasonable. My husband had fried chicken and I had the Philly cheese steak. The sweet rolls are to die for and staff are very friendly.

This is a good neighborhood spot. We had Sunday lunch a few weeks ago. You can get the daily specials on the service line or order off the menu. We had a burger off the menu and it was big and good. The meatloaf and sides were good as well. Dessert left a lot to be desired. We will definitely go back!

Way way WAY better breakfast than yesterday. A very tasty(if maybe a little oily) cheddar cheese omelet that filled half of the plate. Yes, I included the knife and fork in there for scale. I ate less than half of this monster. And it was very very good. Light, cheesy, everything a cheese omelet is supposed to be. As for the home fries, THIS place gets it. They were very tasty. The soft parts were soft and the crunchy parts were crunchy. And all of it went down with some good coffee. Homewood is a winner for breakfast!

Have been a breakfast regular for a couple of years now. Last few visits service has been very slow. Not because of server, but because the kitchen was obviously understaffed. Today, eggs cold and grits congealed. Bacon and sausage cold, too. Biscuits piping hot. Tried to talk to proprietor, he blamed server and walked off. We were overcharged by $ 10, too. Most disappointed, must find new breakfast place!

Stopped in for breakfast on our way to Destin Florida. I had the sausage, mushroom and onion omelet. Simple but delicious. My husband had the grits which were good. The bisquits and cinnamon rolls were to die far. But the main reason I would say you need to stop in here is Miss Linda. What a true southern lady.

This breakfast was amazing. They were not busy so there was no wait time issue. We asked for Ms. Linda because of previous reviews and her service made our breakfast a true experience. She is a proud and skilled server. The pancakes were our favorite because the edges were crusty like we like them.

So Waffle House was packed so we decide to hit up the diner. First time in 11 months! Mushy smashed hash browns, two eggs clearly not over medium and bacon that overcooked. The wife spit out the biscuit it tasted so bad. The kids grits were all butter. Safe to say, if you eat here — order this: Toast, bacon — not turkey, scrambled eggs and pancakes. Just dont pour the high fructose corn syrup known as Alaga on it. Last time we eat here for breakfast. Picture of the meal will be posted. Lunch is good though.

Came for breakfast and got French toast and sausage. I can’t say there was anything that special about the food, but Ms. Linda my waitress was the bomb. Never had an empty coffee mug, and she and I both made fun of my friend who loaded his coffee up with sugar and creamer. She’s a real hoot, and she needs to be your waitress when you come here. The coffee is strong and she keeps it coming. Do you really need anymore for breakfast?

Less like a diner(from what I’m used to) and more like a «meat and 3»(like Ted’s). Good food, although nothing amazing. Service was great: friendly and speedy. Price wasn’t too bad given the quality of the food and venue.

I prefer Piccadilly! Not anything to rant and rave over. Been here several times(including brunch) and the food is just ok. I believe there are better options for southern meat + 3 cuisine around town. Prices are fair for this style of dining, location is fine and the layout/size of the restaurant itself are all fine, just doesn’t really move me as a MUST try place as it’s been advertised to me previously. Service is standard, diner atmosphere is standard… just not moved in any particular way by Homewood Diner.

Homewood Diner is a gem on the western side of Oxmoor Road. Both meat. & veggie cafeteria style lunches and made to order sandwiches are offered. Meat and veggie choices vary daily, so it seems like everyone has their favorite days to go. For entrees, I recommend the Chicken Pot Pie, Chicken and Dressing, Country Fried Steak, Fried Chcken, and Baked Tilapia. For veggies, my favorites are the Mac and Cheese, Fried Okra, Turnip Greens, and Squash Casserole. If there isn’t something in the meat and three line on a particular day that appeals to you, the sandwiches that you order via table service are great. The Chicken Parmesan, Bacon Cheeseburger, and Patty Melt are my top choices. Hint – get the onion rings instead of the French fries! Food is excellent and tastes like mom or grandma made it at home. There may not be the healthiest or spiciest choices, but it’s all so good you’ll be making a happy plate(or taking a big to-go box with you because you couldn’t finish all of the large servings!). Service is friendly and always has a smile. Sometimes around lunch it gets very busy and it may take a second or two longer to get that drink refill or extra salad dressing. But the waitresses know their regulars, greet you by name, and have your drink waiting for you at your table before you sit down. Breakfast and dinner are also served. Homewood diner can’t be beat for a good down-home style lunch!

The last three times I’ve been here the service and wait time were absolutely terrible. We went on Sunday and waited 35 minutes just for our drink orders to arrive. There were four of us total and our food came out in 15 minute increments. I was the only female and mine came out after everyone had finished their breakfast. They were not slammed and there were no apologies for the wait or the crappy service. We won’t be going back. We gave it three chances.

Hospitality and a great breakfast! My wife and I came in at 10:30 am on a Saturday. Service was great! We had Jennifer as our waitress, and she was wonderful. Gave us our welcome cinnamon rolls for being first timers. Pancakes were great, good crispy bacon. Enjoyed the old diner feel. We’ll be back again for breakfast.

This was an interesting experience. I went to the Homewood Diner to hang out with my family because my sisters go to church next door. It definitely has an old-timey feel to it, and by old-timey, I’m referring to the 80s. It’s a meat and three type deal. The food was great, and obviously the company of my family is what I came for. I will say that it was hard to find something that looked good that wasn’t fried, and they were out of some of the better looking sides. Overall, it was good, but I don’t know if I’d go back on my own.

This place takes the cake when it comes to the classic meat & three cafeteria set up. They have excellent meatloaf, chicken n dumplings, pork chops, and fried chicken. Their southern style veggies are top notch as well. You many want to attempt to be somewhat health consciousness but I implore you do not skip on the pies. They are a must.

I stopped by here this morning for breakfast with my girlfriend. We had some time to waste in the area and decided to look for a diner and this happened to the closest one. The inside of the place was decorated pretty aptly, or at least I thought so. There were multiple booths and tables, all with checkered table cloths and around the walls were pictures of old diners, from what I assume was the area. For breakfast I decided to have the large bowl of biscuits and gravy which surprisingly came with a side of meat for which I choose sausage and a side of grits. My girlfriend went with the Western omelet and also chose a side of grits. She thought that the omelet was very good and though the grits were excellent. I really enjoyed my gravy as it had the perfect amount of pepper in it making it linger for a slight time after eating it. That combined with the goodness of the both the biscuits and the grits left me as a happy guy. The bottom line for me is that I would definitely stop by here again in the future. Both my girlfriend and myself enjoyed all of the food that we had so why wouldnt we?

Went there for lunch today. Meat and three, really good home cooking. Had the country fried steak which was great with brown gravy and some onions. Mac and chees was just like my mom makes from scratch. Collard greens were good and flavorful. Fried okra was fresh and crunchy. Cornbread was good but a little dry, but that was what the extra gravy was for. :) Banana pudding was the lasst surprise, first time I have had it in 20+years. Was great and will be back to this hidden gem.
