Tried this place for the first time less than a week ago, and have been back twice more since! I love the beef brisket, my family also loves the pork and the ribs. This is going to be a regular thing, I am sure!

Finally got a chance to stop at Big Johns. Picked up a ½ rack of ribs to go. Strong smokey flavor. Very tender ribs. Excellent BBQ sauce. Will return again.

Saw this place on my way to go kayaking and told myself I would stop for lunch afterwards which I did! I got the ribs collard greens and macaroni and cheese. The meal was huge and satisfying. The ribs and collard greens were fantastic, the macaroni and cheese was not really anything special. As others have written this is just picnic tables underneath A tent which was fine with me because I had been outdoors all day anyways. The only problem I had were the flies, there were a lot of them buzzing around my food which can be quite annoying. Perhaps Big John can put up some kind of fly buzzers or traps near the tables. That is the only reason I will not give this place 5 stars, but the food was awesome! Sorry I did not get to meet Big John there were only two ladies working here at the time and they were not very friendly. But they served my food very fast!

BigJohn is a master at what he does. My boyfriend and I split the large rib sandwich. We were blown away. After finishing, we started up some conversation with John. He gave us samples of his collard greens and his baked beans. Both of these dishes were unbelievable. It was my first time trying collard greens and I will be sure to order them each and every time we visit him. BESTBBQINCITRUSCOUNTY. Big John is the man.

Drawn by the smell of BBQ we pulled over after a day of kayaking. This place is like a food truck with picnic tables. I had the brisket sandwich and my friend had the BBQ pork both for $ 10.00 The meats were chopped and I am used to this for brisket but not pork. In NC it is pulled pork BBQ. Sauce was sweet and tangy. No frills. If the wind is blowing in the right direction you will smell like BBQ when you leave. This could be a good thing or not a good thing…

Great food, nice lady who always takes my order, good portions and prices. Didn’t give 5 because of hours.

I have to say that this is a trailer and a smoker. There’s a couple picnic tables but there is no sit down service. This might put some less intrepid diners off but it just makes me pull off the road and sidle right up to the window every time. It’s just part of the experience for me. I enjoyed the smell of the smoking meat while I eat their BBQ. Fast and friendly service and some helpful locals helped us choose our meal. I loved the ribs here, smoky, tender, succulent with a really nice sweet and tangy sauce… but not too sweet. These include the tip and are large and meaty. These are some of the best I have had in some time. The beans were terrific too. There were a few types along with a little bit of corn and green pepper. Most of the time this is too much but these were really tasty. We also tried the chopped and sliced pork. It seems that people around here use loin and I find it a bit dry and tough when you smoke it. It tastes good and I see why they choose it in the interest of time but prefer a juicier tender cut for BBQ. I didn’t love or hate the slaw, it’s too creamy for me though and didn’t eat very much of it. I want to go back to try the chicken. I saw them on the smoker and they looked really good. I also would like to try the sausage and wanted to ask about it but they were really busy. It’s a very popular spot for lunch.
