I always knew growing up that this place was here, and I just realized that it was the same place that used to be next to Ice Palace. In the mood for some bbq ribs, we headed here for the first time yesterday. Contrary to what I thought, parking wasn’t an issue, even with one of the stalls being taken up by a tent vendor selling Valentine’s Day garbage. Next time, I’ll definitely just get takeout. It was extremely hot and the seating area isn’t exactly the cleanest. Heck, it’s downright grungy and grimy like some wild muks and koffings are going to just pop out of nowhere and hit you with a sludge bomb. The food, on the other hand, was pretty good. The portion size was small, not even a full rack of ribs for the dinner size, but tasty nonetheless. Standard sauce, but the meat pulled clean from the bone. One of the good things is that this place is open pretty late, so I’ll keep it in mind especially since it’s only minutes from where I live.

A nice little hole in the wall. The beef rib was very good, BBQ sauce was amazing but out of 3 bone in pieces of meet, 2 of them was nice and soft and easy to chew. The last piece of meat was super chewy and I couldn’t eat it. I’m going to give this place another try.

Excellent customer service the food here has alot of good flavors. Also When your driving past bobs you can smell the food from the road and that’s what BBQ supposed to smell like a party or a family gathering at the beach… Hibachi chicken is a winner

Place is so dirty, tables outside surrounded by birds and bird poop. Found a long hair in my food, and some dishes are just too expensive. Bbq sauce on my ribs reminded me of the sauce reminded me of tomato soup. People have no idea what real bbq taste like if this dirty, mediocre run down place has a 4 star. Cleanliness doesn’t seem to bother anyone of this island, birds carry diseases and germs etc, and their shit on the tables, walls and floors is even worse. The issue I keep running into on this island is the cleanliness of the facilities, if they can’t keep hair out their food and clean tables for customers how do you think their kitchen looks?

Probably my favorite place to get some good Hawaiian style bbq. I always seem to get the mix plate item. Soo delicious and I switch it up with a the kuala pork or the Teri chicken sandwich. Come here hungry and you will leave happy and full!

We got the super combo and it was tasty. The portion size was enough for the GF and I to be filled sharing the plate and we ended up with a big mess that we was happy enough to lick off all the goodness off. Korean BBQ amazing!

Craving a good Teri Burger of late so my search is on to see who makes a good one. My favorite one is McDonalds limited time only McTeri Deluxe because it has all the things I want in a teri burger: lettuce, onions, tomato, mayo & a generous glazing of teriyaki sauce. It’s messy & delicious. So I decided to try Bob’s version. Meh, it was a dry burger with no sauce laden teriyaki-ness. Sure I could taste the teri flavor but it was a disappointingly small patty. If you need to get a burger at Bob’s I’d suggest ordering the giant burger cuz I’m guessing the patty is giant? Fries are standard, bigger than shoestring size. Love that there’s a selection of fries: regular, curly or giant. Onion rings are also on the menu. Will have to try their chocolate malts one of these days. An overall good place to add to my plate lunch rotation.

What they lack for in everything else is overlooked by the tasty food. They’ve been around for a while but I think they have new Korean owners. Explains why the menu has plenty kal bi like items. The food is pretty tasty. But there are some things tou red to get over. Sitting on a busy corner of Waikamilo and Dillingham. Lots of parking but noisy and lots of traffic. Stink. It’s smells of a mixture of kal bi sauce and garbage. At times one smell takes over the other. Dirty tables. Dirty counters. Dirty looking equipment. No Coke products. Ugh. Big menu and tasty meat. Prices are cheap.

This place is literally a little shack with a window to order, a kitchen, and only outdoor table seating available. I had the salt and pepper pork chop plate, which I believe was under $ 10 and so worth it! They gave two whole, thinly sliced pork chops, and a little 1⁄3 piece extra without the bone. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Mac salad was also amazing, and I love that they pack it separately from the plate. If you don’t want Mac salad, you can sub it out for kim chee, tossed salad, or corn. Everything here seems to be a good value. If I were to come back(and I will), I’d get the pork chop plate again :)

I am definitely a big fan of their New York steak, especially since they prepared it EXACTLY how I requested, without burning it. Perfectly seasoned and the price beats many other places. Great quality! Even the rice was cooked to perfection! Staff is courteous, friendly and efficient. I’m a happy camper!

It’s been so long since I’ve ate here! I got the Kalbi plate which came with Mac salad and 2 scoop rice. Wow I was so full after that! It was so yummy! They also have combo plates too like Kalbi plus fried scallops! If you’re a meat lover than this is the spot. They even have New York steak here too! Every now and then I crave meat and this is the place! Their BBQ chicken here is awesome too!

What a disappointment! Long heard about the To-Die-For BBQ braised short ribs, but they do NOT have it anymore… FOREVER!!! I wish the cashier would just tell me that when I ordered, but instead, she ringed me up for 2 orders of Korean BBQ short ribs. I feel cheated when I got our plates The Korean BBQ short ribs was Okay, nothing out of the ordinary, sweet & salty, well charred. Given its chewiness, I assume they were frozen?! For a total of $ 21 dollars, I rather go to a Korean restaurant to have Korean short ribs, with A/C, clean tables, unlimited side dishes and steamed white rice, like at 678 Hawaii. Instead, I am sitting on old, scratched up outdoor tables, that are Never Wiped, topped with bird shit, sauce, scraps of food, and dirtiness, with smokers next to me. The whole experience just screams: unsanitary and over priced!

What happened? I used to come here for the Teri beef plate, which was really good. I just tried to cut through what was supposed to be Teri beef… didn’t have the patience to finish sawing through the meat … with little success. I’m here at lunch on a Sunday, and this place is pretty empty. The flavor tastes watered down, and the quality of the meat is terrible. Won’t be back any time soon.

Pros: — Big Bang for your buck here. Lots of food for cheap. Comes with sides of rice and Mac salad — The lau lau Kalua pig plate was delicious — Mixed plate meat was all very tender. — A spot away from tourist-central Waikiki. More of a locals spot Cons: — the mixed plate meats were all drenched in teriyaki sauce so tasted all the same. Overall much too salty — located outside of Waikiki so could be inconvenient for tourists Overall it was good food for the price. Definitely leaves you walking away with a full stomach!

Let me just start by saying that this place looks absolutely adorable. From the large light up sign in the corner parking lot to the quirky and aged tables and benches, this place definitely has character. The food is good and price is fair, but portion wise, I was a little underwhelmed which was a surprise to me because I heard they usually are very good with their portions. I’m usually a small eater and at other plate lunch places, a mini is more than enough for me and so I purchased a mini chicken katsu for just under $ 7 here(a little more than L&L or comparable restaurants, but still not considered overpriced I would say) but to my surprise, it wasn’t enough food for me. The mini portion was, well, definitely miniature. Maybe the other mini plates that they have offer a little more bang, but I wasn’t very satisfied with my order and I probably should’ve ordered the regular had I known. Overall, it is a cute establishment and I received service with a smile. I definitely recommend checking out this cool joint but it might have been a good idea to check their portions before ordering!

I was having my lunch today at 3PM, and I basically wanted something fast & cheap… while driving in the Kalihi area, I decided to pull into Bob’s Ba Ba Ba Bar-B-Que! Bob’s Bar-B-Que is an old time local grindz institution! If you like the old skool BBQ type of place where they serve local kine grindz… then you’ve come to the right place! Coming to Bob’s, reminds me of the old days of going to Jolly Rodgers in Kahala, or Bea’s Drive Inn in Kaimuki… I just love the old skool feel of the place. Nothing fancy at all, but they do serve up some yummy grindz! Just a few things about Bob’s — 1. If you need something quick, & don’t like freshly made food… don’t come here. The food is Not pre-made(so it take a little time), & sitting under a lamp… you like freshly made food, yes, they serve it here! 2. If you don’t like outdoor seating,(where the birds sometime come by and visit your table, or the little flies who decide to do a bomb landing on your food)…don’t come here. Yes…gangies…it’s definitely NOT5 star dining here. It may not even be a 1 star dining experience if you’re strictly looking at décor on a place, but hey, this place has long lasted a lot of businesses through the years, and has a strong local following! For the late lunch today, I ordered myself a Fat Boy Burger, GIANT Fries, & to wash all of it down with a medium Ice Tea. All of this for $ 9.79(with tax). Oh, by the way… if you don’t know what a Fat Boy Burger is… that’s basically me eating a burger! Lol! Nah, but really… a Fat Boy Burger is a Teri Burger with a Fried Egg on top of the hamburger, and it is topped with some lettuce, tomato, & some mayonnaise(Yes gang, I ate mayonnaise… and for you folks that know me, you know how I feel about that). What can I say about the grub-a-dub-dub? Well, I gotta tell you the burger the delicious! It came out piping hot! The bun was so soft, and the meat was so tender. The teri sauce was not overpowering, and it complemented the fried egg on top! As for the GIANT fries… yes it was GIANT all right! The fries were basically like them steak fries, or Mojo fries… big chunks of potato wedges deep fried to a crisp on the outside, but soft & meaty on the inside! Ummmmmmm… noms! I don’t know why I took so long to come back here to eat? It’s a pretty good local place I tell you! And when I read Dave F. & Catherine F.‘s reviews… or I looked at the pics that Maggie T., Darrell P., Lori I., Ramfis B., & J. Y. had posted at Bob’s, I was thinking to myself… hummmmm, «Did I order the wrong stuff?». Cuz I swear, the stuff they ate, looked way better than mines. But of course my eyes are always bigger than my stomach! Chance em’ gangies!

It’s been there forever at the corner of Dillingham, and I don’t remember the last time I ate there. But it was a treat on a recent family outing. So the décor is sparse and showing its age, but the food is plentiful and inexpensive. I couldn’t believe how crowded it was during lunch on a holiday. And it just wasn’t locals either. Tourists and business people were there as well. The fries(giant and curly) were good. My loco moco special was big but a little disappointing since the burger patties were pre-made(Mays?). The Mocha Malt was thick and put me into a food coma after finishing off my dish. Next time, I gotta try the recommended BBQ items.

It’s been ions since we’ve eaten here. Our memories of large portions and tender kalbi brought us back one afternoon for lunch. Not sure if they changed owners, but a lot sure has changed… especially the portion size. KALBI A tiny bit too sweet but not too salty, thier kalbi is still tender, however the portion is significantly less. Unfortunately, they must also use msg because we were parched for hours afterward. TOSSEDSALAD As a healthier option at Bob’s, we substituted the mac salad for tossed salad. It came in a small paper tray stuffed inside a small paper sandwich bag furnished with a wee container of so-called Thousand Island Dressing of mayo, ketchup, relish. The so-called tossed salad only consisted of processed iceberg lettuce. Not sure if it can be considered a tossed salad? The only place we wanted to toss it was in the trash since it was partially brown and wilted.

I’ve been to Bob’s BBQ countless times over the years and I think every single one of those times was late night after 10pm. To me, this is what they are for. A filling meal of bbq meats slathered in a sweet bbq sauce when you missed dinner and need a meal after restaurant hours. The food is consistently average across the board. Whether you get the kal bi, hibachi chicken, deep fried seafood or any of their other items, it will never be great but it will always be decent enough. My go to items are the pork chops, the beef ribs and the baked beans. Overall, the menu has a large variety and the food is definitely affordable. Combining that with the late hours that they operate until this place is «A-OK».
