Went for dinner on Saturday 9⁄27. Had the burger and fries. OMG the fries were amazing. They came out hot and crispy … something I have missed since moving to Oahu. The burger was also good … did not seem too greasy. My husband, daughter and myself were able to eat for $ 27 — not too shabby. This will be on our regular list for good cheap food.

The prime rib French dip sandwich is delicious. The meat was cooked to my desired done-ness.(I ordered it medium to medium-rare, and it had just the right amount of pink for me.) Bread is nice and crispy on the crust, and soft and fluffy in the center. Best of all, my food was served within 3 – 5 minutes. Cross-cut fries were a bit lacking; the edges were all a bit hard. Then again, I’m not here for the fries. All in all, definitely a worthwhile visit for anyone who loves fresh cooked meat at a reasonable price. Food is more pricey($ 12.50 for the sandwich and fries) than a typical plate lunch, but it is a good quality sandwich.

Waffle Fries are so good! 3.5 Stars! We stopped by here for lunch because my bb loves their French Dip Sandwich here. There were a lot of parking and we got a stall right in front of the restaurant. They have seating inside and outside the restaurant but we chose to dine inside because it’s been so hot recently. It’s so nice inside! Looks expensive and their prices reflect that. I thought the menu items were a little expensive. Immediately as we were greeted asking if we needed menus. We kindly declined because we knew we were going to order the French Dip Sandwich with Waffle Fries. You order first, they give you a number and bring you the food. Condiments are located right next to the soda machine on the left. The French Dip Sandwich was very good and filling. Prime rib was done perfectly and it was held between toasted French bread. Waffle Fries were the best I’ve ever had! They were fried perfectly and the inside was so moist, for potatoes, and warm. Not oily at all too! It came with Au Jus and Horseradish sauces on the side. The Au Jus was a great compliment to the sandwich. I didn’t like the Horseradish sauce much. This was so filling that I couldn’t finish the entire dish. Super sad I had to waste some delicious Waffle Fries :’(

I love grilled foods. You can’t go wrong at GTG. Portions are huge and service was friendly and efficient. We were checked on three times and staff also cleared our empty plates. We had the ribeye which was tasty. Definitely had enough for leftovers for next day lunch. One of the specials today was Wagyu burger — super moist and tasty with a crispy bun. The one less star was for the sautéed veggies — too much salt for me. Now I know when I order next time to ask for no salt added to the veggies.

First time here for me. Stumbled upon this place while looking for a place to eat with my son and his girlfriend. I ordered the braised short rib with waffle fries and mixed vegetable. The braised short rib tasted really good, very tender and not so drenched in sauce. The seasoned waffle was really good and the mixed vegetable was not over cooked. This place is a mixture of order to go along with some formality. If you dine in, your food is served on actual plates(not paper plate) and real utensils. You order your meal at the counter and then a waitress will serve your food. They will also remove your plate when done. Drinks are refillable, but you have to get it yourself. One of the highlight is that the kitchen is visible and you can actually watch them cook your food. Why 3 stars? While the atmosphere of the place is good, it was too warm and dark. They don’t offer water and their menu is limited. Not too much variety. But then that could also be good. Lack of greeting when I came in was also a negative. I’m just a very customer oriented person. This is one thing I look for in any place. Otherwise, my experience was good. I’ll definitely give this place a try again.

Lucked out with parking right up front. Smells good! Greeted with menus as we walked in. 10oz prime rib added garlic shrimp($ 3 extra), white rice and potato salad with a drink. My gf had the braised short rib/lemon soy basted mahi with garlic mash and greens with a drink. $ 49 total. Disappointed with the prime rib, supposed to have their special herb seasoning just tasted like salt. The meat itself was cooked perfect, juicy and tender. The shrimp tasted good but was on the small side, not worth the extra $ 3. My gf’s braised short rib/lemon soy basted mahi was the bomb! I should have ordered that too! Service was good, we’ll probably be back but not for the prime rib.

This place is easy to find in the Safeway complex on Kapahulu Ave. Lots of parking street level and upstairs. We arrived when they first open at 11am but they had technical difficulties with their computer system and credit card machines. It didn’t stop us from waiting outside to eat here because we’ve heard great things about the food here. After everything was fixed and they opened back up, we stood in line with everyone else craving their delicious food. I ordered the French Dip Sandwich medium rare with Waffle Fries. It was delicious! The Waffle Fries were an awesome side. The sandwich was perfectly done, even the bread was great! It was soft but had enough of a crunch so you won’t cut the roof of your mouth. There is outside and inside seating. Décor really makes this place look very high end with food prices being very affordable. I will be back!

I love this place! Parking is plentiful, and service is usually quite swift. I’ll admit, when I want a cheat day, this is one of my go-to places. In the times that I’ve been here, I’ve had the braised short-rib stew, prime rib, and ahi katsu among their varied menu. All very delicious, and the portions are great for their price as well as their quality.

Located in the Safeway shopping complex on Kapahulu across the street from Leonard’s Bakery. A counter type plate lunch restaurant with a grilling specialty using wood for a great smoked taste(as described by other reviews) They have several weekly specials that help the pocketbook. They even have a senior special in the late afternoon during the weekdays. Great food and excellent service. Trivia: this entire Safeway complex was once the home to Loves Bakery, the main supplier of bread for Oahu for 80+ years. If you lived near the bakery you could always smell the great aroma of freshly baked bread. Mmmmm…

After a quick run I was hungry for some protein, which means steak steak steak! The word«grill» caught my eye and drew me in like a moth to a light-bulb. I ordered the chopped steak bowl with brown rice to go. What I received after waiting a good 15 – 20 minutes was chopped steak with mushy white rice :( The only reason I’m giving this place 3 instead of 2 stars is because I’ll admit… the chopped steak itself was pretty delicious. It came with a onion and mushroom gravy which was tasty. I wouldn’t mind coming back to try some other things on their menu, but I would definitely call ahead and NOT get rice. They had other sides like mashed potatoes and veggies which seem like better options.

I have mixed reviews about Good to Grill. I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while and always said I’ll come next time every time I frequent the Safeway. I finally decided to come and eat here after I saw a few post on it. The menu is simple and not overwhelming which is a good thing. The open kitchen is also a bonus for a quick sit down/take out place. I ordered the Misoyaki chicken plate and a taro burger for my wife. The food itself was really good. I really enjoyed it. The problem I had with this experience was the wait on the food. I came from work at 7pm on a weekday and was pretty hungry. I did NOT expect my food to take 30 minutes for a take out order. My order receipt showed 7:01pm and I got my food a little after 7:30pm after politely asking the food expeditor to check on my order. That was the only disappointing part of my meal. Will I come back? Maybe. But call ahead if you don’t want to wait that long. If I do, I hope it will be quicker so that I can update my review.

Service is average, seating is plentiful including outdoor seating which is nothing special because it overlooks the parking lot. Pros: unlimited beverage refills(dine-in), great iced tea selection, great menu variety, grilled in front of you, healthier options, friendly staff. Cons: flavor and quality are only average for the price, fried rice save yourself the calories/extra charge and get white instead… flavor is nothing special ATALL, parking is difficult during peak hours(shared a lot with Safeway).

Good To Go! Good to grill is what I call a more upscale plate lunch place. they do charge a little more than an L&L, but they make up for it in the quality. Located in the shopping center of Keeamoku where the safeway is. Lots of parking out front but always packed as well. I ordered: Chicken Katsu, All French Fries with Toss Salad: Fried, thick pieces of chicken breast with waffle fries! Chicken was not burnt and juicy. Toss salad was clean and salad dressing was good. A classy alternative to L&L.

Loved it. Love the Aloha from the moment you step in the door you can feel that this place has a different energy. looks small from the outside. but very spacious interior. $ 10 gets you full. they use organic veggies and no GMO mash potatoes. they buy local fish. they have a classic BBQ grill check it out when you come inside. they can make great BBQ and katsu for parties of 10 so great for parties. Really nice addition to gourmet foods in this strip mall anchored by a world class Safeway. Plenty parking upstairs nice view of Diamondhead when you walk down the stairs, to right there da kine. Can eat outside. really nice mid Kapahulu restaurant. Just think healthy BBQ chicken plate with no MSG and big enough for two if you on a budget. I would like to see some morning hula and zumba classes on the lanai and in the evening why not have some trance dancing … But old man next door would complain

I’ve been to Good To Grill a few times now, and I’m usually pretty happy with my order. Parking: No worries, it’s part of the shopping center with the Safeway on Kapahulu so there are lot of spaces. Don’t be deceived by the lower parking! If it looks packed, just drive upstairs(roof of Safeway) and there’s ALWAYS lots of stalls open. Food: I’ve tried a few things, salmon, ahi, burger, steak, and they’re all good. You can choose how well they cook the meat and which sides come with your meal. NOTE(for the healthy folk): you can just ask them to steam your veggies instead of getting the sauteed ones that are on the menu. New Chad Owens Menu: Really, this is the reason why I keep eating at Good to Grill. I’m trying to be a healthy person and their new Chad Owens inspired menu really does the trick. I personally enjoy the Cajun Salmon plate best. It comes with mashed cauliflower, baked okinawan sweet potato, and angel hair pasta tossed w/olive oil & cooked spinach. I could do without the pasta, but I love the purple sweet potato and mashed cauliflower being a part of the plate. Why 3 stars? I would have given it 4 stars except that the consistency is a little off. Sometimes my food is perfect, sometimes it’s not. For example, the mashed cauliflower and salmon are sometimes only lukewarm temperature. Food should be somewhere between really warm and piping HOT, right? Sometimes the sweet potato is a little extra crispy on the outside(burnt a little, maybe?) and sometimes it’s JUST cooked enough. Though that one doesn’t bother me so much. Anywho, you get the idea: consistency of food served could use a little improvement, but otherwise, love the menu.
