Hubs got my fav today, it was awesome! The mini chicken Katsu with all chow funn today was cooked to perfection! Thumbs up to the chef! The last few times it’s been horrible, Katsu all broken pieces and the chow fun was sooo little. I’m a happy camper today!

i wish i could actually give them NOSTARS! pissed me the eff off. get in there and 2 ladies have their backs to us. 1 of them prepping the kim chee & one(who im guessing is the cashier) is only focused on getting the orders all out. she turns around and sees us standing there yet doesnt say ANYTHING to us(not even«i’ll be right with you»). she turns back around to focus on the orders. she did this twice. the cooks see us but say nothing. the girl who refilled the ice doesnt stop to help us. NOONE does. we stand there for 10 mins and still nothing. 2 more guys come up behind and still she does not take order. so we walk out. TERRIBLE!

I can’t say I was surprised when I received my food. The prices were just right but the servings and presentation was awful! My boyfriend ordered a mini plate, that came out looking like a kid’s serving. I liked the cashier, nice & quick, but the food was lackin’ so I’m not snackin’ there ever again! Btw, my teri beef sandwich was just two crusty hamburger buns with a dried thin SLICE of what tasted like a shoyu dipped beef jerky! Sorry Grace, I will not Grace your establishment with my prescence, ever again.

Favorite place to go for chicken katsu, I can eat it several times a week and not get tired of it! Love how they include chow fun. They seem to give bigger portions if you get a take out plate, the line can get long around lunchtime, but the wait isn’t too bad

No warm and fuzzies but it served our purpose of just getting some lunch and not having to go to the norm fast food places. Clean enough I suppose from what I could see. I asked the lady taking our order for something that was common to locals and she seemed very confused by my question so I explained more and she just wasn’t any help. Food was pretty good: I had beef curry and rice and the hub had hot n spicy chicken that was crispy and very good– no bones. We wouldn’t go back as it wasn’t anything special. It wasn’t a bad experience though just nothing bad happened.

To me, this is the only place to go for breakfast. Prices are right, service is fast, fried rice is ONO! I always get 2 breakfast meats, scrambled eggs and fried rice. Cannot go wrong!

I’ve always liked graces and have been coming here for there sweet and sour short ribs and chicken katsu but last night after coming home from work I picked up a plate of sweet and sour short ribs and this is what I found in the sauce.

Growing up in Pearl City, I somehow would find myself at Grace’s Inn, which is located next to Dave’s Ice Cream at the bottom of Kaanohi Street and Moanalua Highway. Always have fond memories of the chow funn bottom, kim chee sides, and big portions. However, their chicken katsu is emblazoned in my mind. Fried to order, the portions are big, the breading not too thick and done the local style with panko, this was a staple for my plate lunch cravings. Much better than L&L and more affordable too. Since moving to town, I have frequented the Grace’s Inn on Beretania(located in same shopping center as Times Beretania). Be careful if you have a car that has low clearance, the dip out of the parking lot on Beretania is VERY steep. One pound of chicken katsu as a side order is something like $ 7 and comes in the sytrofoam plate lunch container. The employees are very friendly. You can tell this a local spot with old 70’s booths and décor. No matter, food is cheap, ono and good for post-surf or hangover cravings.

Today I may have been a little extra hungry considering it is April 20th: P but I had a major craving for a plate lunch today for some reason. Tyler brought me to Grace’s In for a afternoon munchie date today :) I’ve been told that their loco moco is a must have. To be honest I’m not a huge fan on hamburger loco mocos. This can be a problem sometimes because loco mocos are so ono! However hat wasn’t a problem because they have a chicken katsu loco moco:)(yes that’s a thing here) and its literally everything I could ever want it be. Battered and fried chicken on a bed of rice with over easy eggs cooked just right, oh yeah and CANTFORGETTHEGRAVY. I was drooling. It was SoOoo good i thought I was gonna mop the whole plate, but my eyes were way too big for my stomach and Got full so fast. The cooks give such a hearty serving too. Both my BF and I couldn’t finish the whole thing. They even sell Icee here! I felt like a little kid again :) if was perfect! Price were very reasonable as well. Total for both our plate lunches, an Icee, and medium drink was about $ 14! I must say that’s deal!

Classic local kine grindz lunch plate place, in the same class as Rainbow Drive In and maybe L&L. I had the mini katsu curry, and the katsu came out crispy. Nothing really especially exquisite about the katsu, but it was solid. The curry sauce was great. It had a slight sour tinge to it like kind of a green chile Mexican sauce(I really hope that’s what it was LOL), but that made the plate really go. Of course mac salad is mac salad at these types of places — which means it’s pretty good. The lady taking my order was very disorganized, however, yet she seemed to be annoyed at the patrons for ruffling her feathers. She was a couple of bad transactions from going postal on some fools. Get a hold of yourself lady!

BIG servings of old school diner food. If you like local plate lunches, you will like the food here. I had the katsu moco and was more than full and couldnt finish it. HUGE servings.

An old school drive-in with a new school kick. The menu is fairly large. Not your typical drive-in… The cashier was very knowledgeable of the menu. I asked about various items and she knew exactly how the dish was prepared and what ingredients it included. I love that! I’m semi-picky so when servers actually know what they’re serving its a huge plus for me. Some the items on the menu have a sticker of a clock next to them which lets customers know that these select items may take a little more time then others. I placed an order for take out which 2 items I ordered had a clock sticker next them, I waited less then 7 mins for my order. Big shocker, so awesome! Got home and ate, food was delicious. Chinese chicken salad is massive and only cost $ 6, their dressing though, good enough to drink. I’m definitely going back.

Can’t comment on the service and dine in option since I’ve only done take out. Tried their chicken katsu loco moco. The price is great for the plateful of rice, eggs, chicken katsu, and brown gravy. The eggs definitely retained a frying oil smell though which I was able to bear. The main fear I had was the chicken itself, but the pieces were of decent quality. No chewy fat or skin to deal with. Service is extremely fast and they give you all the napkins, utensils, and condiments you need quickly wrapped up and bagged. It appears that they run an efficient operation that keeps the regulars coming back.

What is it about the chicken katsu with extra katsu sauce, Mac salad, and kimchee served all over rice and chow funn??? Is it just me? Is it really? Nothing stands out at Graces, in my honest opinion. But I always come out and get the same exact thing whenever I’m craving chicken katsu. I really don’t know why! The portions are huge and the price is low, but there’s so many other places to choose from, but as always, I end up back here with the same exact order.

Always a pleasure to eat at Grace’s because it has been around forever! I got together with my fraternity brothers here for lunch to catch up! What fun! Chicken Katsu Mini-Plate: $ 5+ comes with one nice fillet of chicken katsu, one scoop of rice, and salad. Enough for a meal. Loved the katsu, perhaps the best on the menu. My friends ordered the Katsu Curry and the Loco Moco. Looked delicious. I also ordered two large icees to go, and they were nostalgic and fun to eat! Almost 5-Stars! Yup, it’s that good! «Almost!» Wait. Eric… Hello?! Wakeup! Umm… We talking Grace’s Inn? Hello?! Yup, we talking Grace’s Inn, Cuz! And I said«Almost» 5-Stars! Almost! Relax! So, the other day on my way to the gym… I’m jonesing for some Chicken Katsu. Hey don’t judge! No, not Zippy’s, Okazuya, or the type in plastic at Foodland or Time’s. I wanted it out-of-da-fire and into my belly kine… KATSU! Where? Where? Where should I go? So, as I drive down on South Beretenia… The clouds open-up and KA-BOOM! GRACE’S INN! I forgot about this place! Ok, I admit I haven’t been here since George W. Bush was our president and Myspace was the place to meet old men with 20-year old shirtless pictas or diva’s w/above triple-chin selfies! Unilocal? What’s that? Yup, It’s been awhile! However, if memory serves me right, I do recall some pretty yummy Katsu here! So, I park in the large parking lot near Times, walk-in and boy this place hasn’t changed much! Hey! Looks like«Aunty» still works here too! Old school! Place is hustling with locals and a very«large» tourists family(in numbers & girth!) All jonesing for some local grinds! Of course, I know what’s up and want the Chicken Katsu before I even walk-in! Has to be mini tho as I’m headed to the gym! Just a weird pre-workout craving and I never deprive myself! Don’t judge! Hey, so it’s my turn and order… CHICKENKATSU: Just like I remember it! Crispy exterior and juicy chicken! Includes rice and small tossed salad(Mac option too). Katsu over a small bed of Chow Fun! Yup, exactly like I remember it! I devoured it in like 2 minutes! TERIBURGER&FRIESCOMBO: Cousin ordered this and she ate it all with no complaints. Simple, meaty burger dipped in Teri sauce. Fries were nice, hot and fried perfectly! Yes, I definitely recommend this old school fast-food diner called… GRACE’S INN! It’s a tad dated, but that’s what us locals like sometimes. Food like we remember it and super friendly service! Just realize my only strike against this place is the mini is the most«manini» mini I’ve seen in my life! And that’s my review, Cuz! It’s all about the Chicken Katsu here, but if memory serves me right again, I do recall some pretty yum Hamburger Steak and Mochiko Chicken too. Maybe next time, but I’ll make sure it’s the regular size! It’s «Almost» 5-Stars! OVERALLGRADE: 4.0-STARS!(Solid) LIVEALOHA… UnilocalREVIEW #342

Oh my goodness. My dad used to bring me here was I was weeeee little lad. I only ever used to get the chicken katsu was I was a kid and I absolutely loved the fact that there were noodles on the bottom. I haven’t been here in years… but I was craving chicken katsu for lunch. I usually just get L&L but they’ve been disappointing so I decided to stop in to Grace’s(best name ever har har har) for a plate lunch. The regular plate was a little over $ 8 and since I was starving I opted for the regular and not the mini. The portions are HUUUUGE. I immediately wished I had ordered a mini instead and ended up having enough leftovers for another meal… sometimes my eyes are bigger than my stomach. Surprisingly I found that the katsu tasted the same as I remember from all those years ago. Unilocalers were right! Grace’s Inn is definitely consistent. You get two scoops of rice, two scoops of a salad(I got mac salad), a side of kimchee, AND it still comes with the noodles! hooorah! You could tell that the katsu was fried on the spot. It was hot and sizzling when I bit into it and kept having to tell myself to eat slower in fear of burning my taste buds off. The noodles taste exactly the same as I remember them. For a plate lunch, the portions are big and the price is great. I’ll definitely be coming here for my katsu fix from now on. I don’t even know why we stopped coming! If you usually eat a mini, I would stick to that since they are very generous with their portions. Or a regular and share/save it for later. I was very surprised and happy with my food today. Ample parking in back of restaurant and by times supermarket.
The last time I ate at Grace’s was probably back in high school. It was THE place for chicken katsu. Know what? It still is! After food shopping at Times, the hubby and I headed to Grace’s(which shares the same parking lot as Times on Beretania) and both got mini combo plates. I got mine with chicken katsu and hamburger steak, and he got his with chicken katsu and shoyu chicken. We loved it! I do think they make the katsu ahead of time(not made to order) because our food was pretty quick to come out, but that’s ok. It was still somewhat crispy, and most importantly, not oily or soggy. The mini combos are served on a small bed of their infamous chow fun, and come with one scoop rice and your choice of mac or tossed salad. All for a little over $ 6. It’s good to know that this landmark diner still lives up to its reputation.
