Consistently good food. A lot of locally sourced produce. I need to try the salmon one of these days, I usually go with the steak and Asian fusion sauce as a plate or a sandwich and it is always good.

The service was friendly, I was greeted upon entry and treated well. The food, however, was disappointing. I made a steak plate with brown rice, and the grilled veggies. The steak was luke-warm and the veggies were a sad sight. They had been sitting is a bowl under a heating lamp and they were the end bits of a batch. Overall the plate lunch wasn’t terrible but it certainly did not make me into a returning customer. Which is unfortunate because I love healthy lunch options but quality was lacking in my steak plate especially for the price I paid. I am happy to pay if the food is worth it, but it wasn’t. Also to add about the environment of the business: it is a cute little place. However, the outside seating area was messy with chairs strewn all around, the leaves had not been swept recently and the recyclables were over flowing. If the place had been packed with people I would have given the benefit of the doubt that they didn’t have time that day. But when I was there I was the only customer. There were two employees, the one guy who served me and the other was sitting at a table talking to a girl who did not appear to be a customer but a friend. I have no problem with employees hanging out but at least make sure all the work is completed first. Definitely disappointed in the food at the price I paid and the messy front was a turn off. To end on a good note, at least the service was very friendly.

I’ve been coming to Grylt since it first opened after Blazin Steaks closed. The food has always been good and the mashed cauliflower is my personal favorite. Unfortunately, the prices have always been high to start off and after coming to Grylt today– and over the years– the prices are incredibly high. I enjoy this place in Manoa but the prices makes me reconsider coming here especially when I want an affordable and quick meal.

GRYLT Manoa offers healthy options and tasty food. But I will sum this up simply: The food is tasty, but not sure if it’s worth the price. I got the salmon with asian dressing, which tasted good. But the food here is expensive, and the portions aren’t too big. Also the restaurant doesn’t have much places to sit either. It’s just an OK place to go, I wouldn’t go out of my way to try here though.

Decided to try GRYLT after quite a while. Purchased the cauliflower mash w/grilled chicken. Got home and when I opened up my plate, what was the first thing I saw??? A hair in my cauliflower mash right on top. Very disappointing. Aside from avoiding that entire area of the plate, the chicken was good and the Asian Fusion sauce is always delicious.

I’m so disappointed by the unraveling of GRYLT Manoa! My husband and I have definitely observed a downward trend in the quality of this place that we used to enjoy so much. A couple of visits ago, service was a little disorganized and food took a long time to surface from the kitchen, but I overheard one of the staff telling a customer that someone had been a no-show, so they were short-handed. .. so I chalked the awkward experience up to that. This past weekend, we were met with an unexplained change in menu — for some reason, the baby romaine side salad is now called the Manoa Wedge(What’s the point?!) — and an otherwise overall decline in quality. When we used to order the baby romaine, we used to be asked whether we wanted it grilled, but this was not offered with the new wedge option(maybe we could have asked, but I guess we were distracted by the change). In addition, the dressing paired with the wedge was noticeably different from what had previously been offered and was now an unappealing shade of yellow that isn’t often characteristic even of honey mustard. Though they bore the same names as before(Asian Fusion, Citrus Herb), the sauces that came with our orders were also very different in appearance and flavor from what we’ve experienced on previous occasions. The Citrus Herb in particular was an unnatural shade of green and tasted like neither citrus nor herb. All our food was squeezed onto flimsy foam plates that were smaller than what GRYLT used to use. Gone were the biodegradable utensils that used to stand neatly in canisters near the soda dispenser; they were replaced by plastic forks and knives laying on their sides in containers that were not particularly clean. And speaking of clean, our table was inexcusably sticky, as if it hadn’t been wiped in quite a while. I can’t justify paying GRYLT prices — easily $ 15/person for a plate and a drink — for an experience that has consistently declined over the past year or so. I probably won’t be back.

This place never disappoints, it’s kinda tucked in a corner of the whole shopping area so it’s not well seen but I saw the grylt van they have parked up front that gave it away. Staff was awsome, the dude who cooked everything was having a fun time making everything too. It’s alittle pricy but it pays for good healthy food.

I’ve been to the Manoa GRYLT location twice, and I appreciated the health-conscious menu that comprises many fresh offerings. Granted, I wouldn’t get GRYLT for every meal because some of the platters are more expensive, but if you’re looking for a fresh, veggie-heavy meal, this eatery provides the perfect solution. I visited this fast-casual restaurant with a friend who has a lot of allergies, and she was happy with the selection of fresh cuisine featured here. GRYLT is similar to mainland-style restaurants like Chipotle where you’re able to «build your own» plates and platters. The menu is somewhat limited, but this makes the ordering process simple. On both of my GRYLT ventures, the eatery was relatively empty, so my friend and I could take our time when ordering. We dined in during one visit, and for the second visit, we ordered our meals to-go. Here’s what the GRYLT ordering process is like: For fresh grilled plates/platters … Choose your protein: You have several different selections available when it comes to meat, and I chose all-natural chicken both times. This features boneless grilled chicken breast(hormone and steroid free) marinated with herbs and spices. However, during my future GRYLT visits, I want to try the garlic shrimp(succulent pieces of shrimp that are sautéed in roasted garlic and olive oil and seasoned with sea salt and cracked pepper) or the grilled tofu, which features firm pieces of grilled tofu, seasoned with sea salt and cracked pepper and topped with sun-dried tomato olive oil. That shrimp especially sounds appetizing with the amazing seasonings, and I absolutely LOVE tofu, so I’m sure I would like this grilled version as well. Choose a starch: On both trips to GRYLT, I opted for brown rice(there’s also white rice), but on a future visit, I want to try something different and would go for the smashed potatoes, which feature«Yukon Gold» potatoes with roasted garlic, sea salt and olive oil. I don’t get mashed potatoes very often, but this smashed version sounds yummy, especially with all those seasonings for enhanced salty flavor. Choose a veggie: I’m pretty sure I opted for the«Manoa wedge» by default, since I don’t like kale and a lot of the other ingredients included with the other salads. This option featured tomatoes and Parmesan cheese tossed with honey mustard. I just picked out the tomatoes from my salad, but I enjoyed the fresh Parm and the honey mustard dressing. Top it off: The final step in creating your own platter is choosing a dressing/sauce to top it off. I went with citrus herb – not because I like citrus, but because I really like herb – and luckily for me, the citrus taste wasn’t too overwhelming. On my next visit, though, I would love to try the roasted garlic chili. GRYLT’s fresh sandwiches are made to order and served on a fresh baguette. Though I haven’t ordered a sandwich from here yet, I would probably go for the following: «Herb Crusted Fresh Chicken Breast»: This yummy sandwich features herb-crusted chicken breast with mixed greens, caramelized onions and a tomato with sun dried-tomato oil. I did like the all-natural chicken breast that was included in my platters, so I’m sure I would like the flavors of this herb-crusted option. I would order my sandwich sans the onions and tomatoes, but I have to admit, I’m a little curious to experience the flavor of the sun-dried tomato oil. «Fresh Grilled Tofu»: Because I love tofu, naturally, I’m drawn to this sandwich that comprises tofu. It’s filled with fresh chunks of tofu that are seasoned with fine herbs with mixed greens, caramelized onions, tomato and sun dried-tomato aioli. Again, I would order this sandwich sans the caramelized onions and would probably pick out the tomatoes, but I’m excited to experience that fresh, soft and spongy tofu that sports great flavor from the herbs. «Creamy Chicken & Navy Bean Soup»: I haven’t ordered any of GRYLT’s soups, and while I normally don’t like beans, this option sounds intriguing. It features chunks of fresh grilled chicken mixed with tasty navy beans in a creamy broth. I definitely prefer creamy soups over watery versions, so this option merits a taste at some point. «Double Chicken Platter»: This protein-heavy platter is perfect if I’m in the mood for some serious chicken meal … or want some leftover poultry to take home for the next night’s dinner. This hearty plate comprises twice the amount of fresh grilled natural chicken with fresh spinach and two scoops of brown rice. This meal is basic, which I like, and contains some of my favorite components – chicken and spinach – and I actually like brown rice over white, so I’m sure I’d be a happy camper with this entrée.

This is one of my go-to satisfying, healthy places when I visit back to the islands. Pros: 1. The produce and proteins are without hormones and fresh. *The portion sizes are just enough. They weigh the proteins on the scale. 2. Never feel afraid to customize your meal! *I asked for the DOUBLE portion chicken plate, if they can do SALMON&CHICKEN! *The service was so accommodating! *In addition, I substituted my grains(rice or mash) for more veggies. It was only $ 1 more, but the meal was satisfying. 3. Plenty of Parking *It’s in the Manoa Marketplace so it’s never a hassle to find parking. Cons: 1. The service is a bit slow. You do have to wait since it’s a personal, fresh concept. 2. The plates range from 8.95−−15.95 The prices seem expensive since I live in Cali now, but the quality is great!

things to know about Grylt: –advocates healthy eating –they won’t axe you how you like your steak cooked. This is not Blazin’ Steaks –the manoa location might have your meal already pre-cooked so don’t be surprised if you feel your meat is a bit on the colder side –the burrito wraps are salty, and the evidence will be sprinkled all up on the outside of the wrap. –the dip sauces are fracking goOooooOOoood. They give you little portions at a time so maybe axe for a little extra once you figure which of the poisons is your fave –the waimanalo green taste like they haven’t been washed, I thought I tasted pesticide at one point –the workers are super awesome and generous –there was this rude old man that might be a regular there. He likes to knock down utensils and watch as others pick it up. I hate him

I gotta say this again…“the third time, is the charm!” Yesterday I was helping my friend fix her car headlight lens, as the lens on her car was badly blurred due to the elements of the Hawaiian sun. Upon finishing the job, it was now time for lunch, and my friend was kind enough to get me some good GRINDZ!(Mahalos J!) My friend knew of a healthy place to eat, and if it’s healthy, I’m down! The place we went to was called — «GRYLT». Now why didn’t I not know about this place??? Upon walking into this little establishment I see a lot of healthy vegetarian dishes, as well as grilled beef, chicken, & fish items. What caught my eye on the menu was a «Braised Beef Wrap!» OMG!!! This item totally did it for me… it satisfied my «Breakfast Burrito» quest(granted it was not a breakfast burrito), and it gave me a total«Wrapgasm!» Lol!!! What can I say about the braised beef wrap… the braised beef was all so soft, flavorful, & juicy! It was wrapped in a beautiful bed of veggies, and there was some kind of Kim Chee sauce that was inside the wrap! I enjoyed it so much, I was actually thinking of going back there today, to have another wrap… As for my friend, she just got acai bowl… don’t know what that is, nor have I ever tried it, but I must say it does look healthy with all that fruit on top. Apparently there are 3 locations of Grylt, the one in the Manoa Market Place, Kahala Mall, & at the Ala Moana Shopping Center food court. Great GRINDZ here! If you’re looking for some healthy choices, you may want to check this place out. Noms!

I decided to give this place a try tonight n it was nothing special. I ordered the ahi sandwich n it was not bad, but for the price it should include some chips or fries. My friend ordered the signature salad with chicken. Don’t u normally cut your lettuce to bite size pieces to eat??? Everywhere else does except this place. He ate half of it n threw it away. Also, the college or high school workers looked flustered with all the orders they had to make. But, that is what happens when u don’t have a manager working. Oh well, I guess I won’t be going back.

First off, let me preface this by saying up until my last two visits, I have been a HUGE fan of Grylt. Since the location opened in Manoa, I have probably had lunch here a few dozen times. I’m a big fan of their signature salad and have tried, with no success, to copy it at home. The time before last, while I was waiting for my order, the cook was really distracted by any woman that walked in. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I prefer that the drool stay in his mouth and not in the food. There was a particularly well put together woman in line which he noticed and had his attention when it should have been focused on his job. Anyhow, he couldn’t handle it any longer and blurted out from behind the grill, «Damn girl, you killin’ it today!» She smiled and said thanks. Meanwhile, my chicken and roasted veggies were getting over-grylt. I was willing to let it go because(a) he’s a man and(b) she actually was killin’ it. Moral of the story, he should be more focused on grillin’ it than girls who be killin’ it. Today, however, was the last straw. I ordered the Grylt Signature Salad with chicken. The young woman working behind the counter with silver teeth that«shine bright like a diamond» proceeded to slice up the remaining nugget of chicken that was remaining in their display with the hope that it would be a sufficient portion to be considered adequate. I was willing to let it pass because I was really looking forward more to the grilled romaine and the honey mustard dressing than the chicken. When I got back to my office and took my first bite, I noticed that some of the lettuce was rotten. After hauling my butt back to Grylt and expressing my concern, silver teeth stated that it was normal and caused by the oil on the grill. I pointed out that the lettuce was rotten in the middle and not on the outside. I was given a refund eventually, but only after being made to feel like I had to prove that rotten lettuce was actually rotten lettuce. Moral of the story, just because your rotten teeth have been covered by a silver grill, doesn’t mean you know that rotten lettuce should be kept off the grill. Rotten lettuce pic here Anyhow, I’m done with Grylt. They’ve proceeded to go downhill over the years and the price just doesn’t justify the level of service and the diminished quality of their food.

Ordered the surf n turf plate and it was really delicious. For the«surf» you can choose either fresh, seared ahi, salmon, shrimp. I had the salmon which was perfectly cooked and moist. I hate dry, overcooked salmon, but they did a great job. The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked to medium rare. I also got roasted veggies and nalo greens salad with honey mustard(trying to cut down on the carbs). Everything was so delicious, but I felt good and healthy with my plate. I tried the citrus herb oil, roasted garlic chili, and Asian fusion sauce. I liked the Asian fusion sauce and citrus herb oil the best. I’ll definitely be back, although I have to admit – it can get pricey. But you pay for what you get!

Healthy, grilled, simple yet delicious!!! Can’t get any simpler than this. I love this place. Ordering is quick and simple… Pick your starch, pick your protein, pick your salad/veggie, pick your sauce and done! Seating is limited and there are a few tables outside. I always ordered my food to go. Mashed cauliflower is delicious!

I never thought living in Hawaii where Rice is a main staple with almost every meal that I would find a place where the Rice was good on top, hard and over cooked on the bottom and soggy in the middle. What is up with that?!

So I recently started lifting and getting into the protein craze and this place is heaven for people looking for quality calories! They have different options: sandwiches, soups, power meals, and make your own plate which works as follows: 1. Choose your protein *The chicken is juicy and flavorful; the steak is delish! 2. Choose your starch *I always get the mashed cauliflower for 50 cents extra, it is a much healthier choice and is super good. 3. Choose a veggie *The grilled veggies are really good, I think it includes: mushrooms, broccoli, onions, and red peppers. The baby spinach is just that… so I’d go with the grilled veggies. 4. Choose your sauce *Asian Fusion — It’s good, just ok This LOCATION is pretty nice because it’s away from all the city fuss and there is both indoor and outdoor seating. The PRICES are a little expensive with plates starting at $ 10, but I guess you pay for the convenience of having all the healthy yummy food made for you! GRYLT — When I want to be health conscious and don’t feel like cooking!

Attending UH at Manoa, I was happy to learn that Manoa marketplace was near the university — great for a quick bite in between classes. My Aunty had recommended Grylt to me so I decided to try it. The bright lime green walls are very welcoming and gives off the vibe that the food is fresh and healthy. I went around 1:30 so I’m not sure how bad the lunch rush is, but there were a few groups of people relaxing and talking story after their meal. There are tables both inside and out. The guy behind the counter was super friendly and helpful — this being my first time. We settled in the braised beef kalbi-style sandwich and you get a free cup of water if you so choose. It was a short wait and I was surprised at the size of the sandwich. It was not super long, but they had stuffed it with meat! Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate restaurants not skimping on meat, but there was so much going on that it was difficult to eat and it kept falling apart. The kim chee was good, pretty mild and not too hot, and I liked the unique factor because I’ve never had Kim chee on a sandwich. The meat was not traditional kalbi style or flavor so that was misleading, but it was tender and flavorful. The sandwich came with a side salad that was simple and fresh. Overall… Ambiance: casual and friendly Service: extremely helpful and kind Food: good, but not amazing, which is why the place only gets a 4. I wasn’t blown away — am planning on returning though to try something else on the menu!

Ended up in Manoa tonight. Counted on my fellow Yeeps to guide me to dinner. This place is located in Manoa Marketplace right next to FHB. The gentlemen who assisted us was very knowledgable, patient, and suggestive. Very good customer service. I ordered the steak, with mashed cauliflower(never had that before), and spinach salad. One size for fountain drinks, refillable. You could also pick 4 different sauces to go with your steak. I chose the garlic chili sauce. When I got my plate, my steak was a little overcooked(I asked for med rare, but got med), but oh well, no harm done– it was still tasty and tender. The sauce was delicious. The mashed cauliflower surprised me! The taste was amazing. The texture was not too weird. And the spinach salad? Well, at first when i ordered it, it was raw, then when it came with my food, they actually sauté it a little with roasted tomato and apples! Yes apples! It was a delicious surprise. Although it was a bit pricey($ 15), I’m a fan. They use local ingredients and their plates and utensils are made out of plants and is 100% biodegradable. Makes you feel good thinking you sort of saved the planet by eating here ;) Will be back to try the salmon.
