food is ok, but parking totally freaking sucks! talk to your landlord people, get more parking instead of L&L taking everything those bitches! I’m tired of coming there and no parking, well fuck it already !!!

Yummmm! Best takeout Chinese food ever!!! The beef chow fun I order here is better than the one I had in China! The stuffed eggplant is awesome too!!! The house roast duck is to die for!!! If you haven’t tried the roast duck here, then you haven’t tried REAL roast duck!!! Prices are just right! Amazing food! Try this place once, & it will keep you coming back!!!

I love coming to Hoy Tin, the food always reminds me of the Chinese food I grew up on. The prices are reasonable and portions are a good size. The only downside is that there is hardly any street parking and no parking lot.

Im was not a fan of Chinese food but this place may have just turned me. Last week for lunch I picked up their roast duck and fried rice plate and it surpassed my expectations. The portion was very large, price was affordable and the best part was that it was absolutely delishious. I will be back here to try their cake noodle minute chicken along. Parking can be tough but it didnt take me long. Hoy Tin is officially my first favorite Chinese place to eat.

Ugh… maybe I ordered the wrong thing or should have asked for a description, or just maybe it was AUTHENTIC Chinese, and I have no concept of what that should be. But, the ginger chicken was just some very cold pieces of chicken with bone and skin(not much meat) with what I’m guessing was a ginger type sauce served on the side. I thought the chicken would at least have some flavor of ginger, but no such luck. And the sauce really lacked much of any ginger flavor, too. My husband ordered egg foo yung, and it was mediocre at best. Not sure why all the great reviews… guess we ordered wrong, but won’t go back to make sure. Not worth the risk.

My family and I love this little hole in the wall. The food is awesome and reasonably priced! Our favorites: sweet sour pork, minute chicken cal noodle, lemon chicken, shrimp with walnuts, and kau yuk to name a few! This place is a must try!

Another sunny day in town and decided to visit one of my favorite restaurants. I Ordered beef with broccoli and charsui fried rice. Omg they were so good. The broccoli was cooked to perfection, beef was so tender and juicy ! And as always the fried rices is just so flavorful, unlike other restaurants I have been to, a lot of them are just plain and no flavor. Also the price here are still more reasonable than other takeout. I will definitely return next time when I’m in town!

This used to be my go to favorite but they switched owners & obviously the cook as dinner plate horrible now! Food not good quality & fried rice had char siu flavor pack dumped in & poorly mixed in with clumps of white rice! Nothing like before!

I work at Kuakini hospital, so I order lunch from here pretty often. This is your typical«hole-in-the-wall» take-out Chinese restaurant. Don’t be fooled by their looks, the food is good. And you will always get your food quickly. I enjoy the chicken cake noodle. It’s very tasty and reliable when it comes to a quick lunch. They also give you a LOT of food for a $ 7 – 8 plate. My co-workers like to get their lunch or dinner plate, which has different combinations of food such as chow mein, crispy wonton and sweet and sour spareribs, just to name a few. They also do party size/ala carte platters, which really comes in handy for last minute potlucks and whatnot. I’ve ordered the gau gee platter before, which was about $ 19 for a small platter of 30 gau gee, that’s a pretty good deal if you ask me. I’ve tasted better gau gee elsewhere, but this was pretty yummy for the price. I like ordering food from here because it is decent and reliable. It’s not some five star restaurant with elegant food, but at least you’ll know that you can get something hot and filling. Oh and just a side note, it’s cash only.

Great food! I’ve had plenty of different fast Chinese food, and this was in an entirely different league! I would give it a $$ though because they don’t give you tons and tons of food. Their fried rice was incredible. I only got it for my wife and it became an instant celebrity for me and the kids!

No sense call in an order. Thy don’t make it till you pay. Forget the service. But, the gau gee is good.

Clearly the food must not be consistent here since I have eaten here but am never as satisfied as some other Unilocalers who have rated this hole in the wall. The noodle dishes have always been bland and tasteless. I have never been served a piping hot dish from this place. Even the saimin seems just heated. The pork in the won ton was very old tasting. Like rancidity had set in. The best thing about this place is the value because it is cheap to eat here but what’s the point if you just don’t like what you are eating? I’ve been here about 5 times and have eaten gon lo mein and gau chee takeout at parties bought from this place. Psh. Very, very greasy. If I do go back once again, it will be to try the dishes recommended by Unilocalers who seem insanely possessed by the salt pepper shrimp and salt pepper pork chop. Maybe I haven’t ordered a big enough variety from this place but for heaven’s sake, if the saimin at a Chinese eating joint isn’t good, then it leaves little hope for taste. I judge the broth of a restaurant first and foremost. I don’t know what the big deal was about the beef broccoli. Mine was bland and again, not steaming hot to the table. If the food isn’t steaming hot, it wasn’t just made. Ugh. One Unilocaler criticized the salt pepper shrimp for having it’s shell on and vein not removed. In Hoy Tin’s defense, salt pepper shrimp in any restaurant here is typically served in shell. That’s a given. You can order it without the shell at only select restaurants but you will have to. «shell» out more for it. Snork!

Food was ok. We ordered: Beef Broccoli-beef was good, broccoli not overcooked & still crunchy. However, sauce was lacking taste. Honey Walnut shrimp-pretty good, not as sweet as I normally like it but good enough. Oyster sauce chicken with Cake Noodle-chicken was very good, skin was crunchy, the oyster sauce wasn’t overwhelming but just right. Cake noodles cooked perfectly, equally crunchy & soggy. Kau Yuk(«the red one»)-meat was a little tough, suuuuper fatty. I’ve had better. Probably want to call in your order & do take out as the dining area is not very big & parking is a hassle(only street parking outside). Also, they only take cash payments so be sure to have some on you if you plan to eat here. Overall, price was reasonable($ 36 for everything) & enough for about 4 people(or 2 with leftovers).

New go to neighborhood spot. The food is cheap and dependable. Service is friendly and reliable. This place is everything you would want from a neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Parking sucks but order takeout and then bring your significant other to jump out of the car and pick up your order.

I found a gem! This little hole in the wall has really good food and very inexpensive. Their menu has a lot of the same items as other authentic Chinese restaurants. Cake noodles were very tasty and good sized portion and the lemon chicken was also pretty good. If I hadn’t taken it out and eaten it fresh right there, I guarantee they would be as good or even better than some of my favorite Chinese restaurants. Small restaurant with only 3 or 4 tables inside and the parking is limited to street parking. Nice area to walk, though, so parking up the road may not be so bad. I like this place!

Just an update. Asked the worker last week if they were closing and she said«no» and walked away after giving me my take out order. I hope this is true!

My wife says she used to get take-out here(A LOT) years and years ago but stopped after it changed owners several years ago. The flavors, she said, just weren’t the same. We figured, however, enough time has passed to stop comparing it to the original and we decided to get some cold ginger chicken and crispy gau gee mein for part of our Mother’s Day lunch. Service was fast(ready in 10 minutes after calling in the order). Parking is minimal. Just street parking right outside. If you’re lucky, there might be a stall behind the L&L Drive Inn nearby. Cold, ginger chicken was good. Ginger sauce wasn’t too oily. But the gau gee mein was just OK. A bit skimpy on the toppings — veggies and some slivers of meat. Other places are a bit more generous, putting shrimp, chicken, etc. on top. Good Chinese take-out option if you’re in the area.
