I didn’t get to post this after my visit in 2015 but had to say that my group had reservations for their special homemade dinner and all of the food, as well as the service was outstanding! We asked for Taiwanese specialties and the dishes that stood out the most was the Tea Smoked Chicken and the Taiwan Fried Rice Noodles(I forget the actual name). YUM! But all of the dishes were delicious! I’d like to go again for sure.

Best green onion(scallion) pancakes I ever ate — and they are one of my favorite items. So yummy, nice little place in the back of the Chinese Cultural Plaza.

Believe it or not, there’s actually a lot of Taiwanese people in Hawaii. The sad part? The lack of Taiwanese restaurants! From photos I’ve seen of Taiwanese night markets they really love to eat, so I’m still puzzled as to why there’s not more Taiwanese restaurants here in Hawaii. KC Kitchen is my secret spot. A place where I go with my friends whose never had Taiwanese dishes, or a restaurant where I go alone when I only have a short lunch break. Most people don’t really know about this unknown joint. This lil place is located in the Chinese Cultural Plaza. Most people come here for dim sum or phở, without trying KC. But honestly sometimes dim sum becomes repetitive and mundane. All of KC’s dishes are made to order, so there is a bit of a wait time, but it’s soo worth it especially when you’re rewarded with a plate of delicate, but crispy plate of green onion pancakes.

I love Mom and Pop type places! This place has Taiwanese style foods and home cooked style meals. They have Taiwanese beef noodle soup, green onion pancake and sticky rice roll. They even have variety of garlic shrimp like the kind in North Shore shrimp trucks. This is a hole-in-wall type place but worth checking out in the Cultural Plaza! Great place for your Taiwanese comfort foods fix!

One of the few authentic Taiwanese places on island. Their beef noodle soup is on point! Love coming here with the wifey when I’m missing home!

I haven’t been here since the original KC Kitchen and finally found a delicious reason to come here again. The Old KC Kitchen has many of the original dishes that made the original KC a great hole-in-the-wall. Located in between the Hong Kong Noodle House and Royal Kitchen in Cultural Plaza, the Old KC Kitchen is a worthwhile eatery with authentic Taiwanese dishes. Highly recommended from today’s visit was the spicy beef noodle, smoked duck, potstickers, stir-fried rice noodle, and sticky rice in a cup. Their chili oil condiment adds the perfect spices to every dish! I’m looking forward to trying many more items on their inexpensive menu.

This place is like something different then just regular chinese food. If you are ever down town check it out. The old owner will be sitting talking with friends drinking good stuff… maybe you can get some if you ask. The food is so good here and cheap. Check it out.

A cute, quaint hole in the wall. Polite service, fast and affordable. My kind of place! Spicy beef noodle soup broth is flavorful and it comes with thick, flat noodles or die for!

Im Taiwanese and I’m all about hole in the wall little Taiwanese restaurants. This place is kinda tucked away in a corner of the Chinese cultural plaza in China town. Half way decent, they pretty much have a monopoly in Honolulu since there’s really a tiny handful of Taiwanese restaurants I ordered the beef noodle, Taiwanese nigiri 饭团 and pancake, and minced pork over rice. It’s decent. Can’t compare to Taiwanese food in LA but I guess it’s good enough since there’s really no other option. They have a dinner private home recipes if you call in.
