Solid neighborhood place. Come during happy hour and buy drinks for the owner. Their pancake is unusually fluffy. It’s pretty different than most. other korean pancakes.

Soju, Kim Chee Pancake, and Sashimi… the dream!!! I love their selection of fresh fish, sliced and plated to perfection. The prices are reasonable, and the portion sizes are great. The Korean food items and alcohol selection remind me of little M&P restaurants in Seoul! The waitresses are very friendly and the owner is super sweet. She cracks jokes and will come and visit with regulars while they dine. Parking on King Street during dinner is like looking for a needle in the haystack, but Kyung’s offers a small lot for three cars or so. they offer a happy hour special from 5 – 7 that features soju and domestic beers. We opted for the Plum Soju for $ 15, and that was about 6 decent sized shot glasses full. A nice buzz for a decent price!

On my second visit to Kyung’s, I tried their meat jun again and I’m not sure if it was just my plate or my friend’s plate too but the meat jun didn’t taste as good as the first time I tried it? It’s wasn’t as juicy and tender as I remembered. I also tried their BBQ chicken and it too wasn’t as good as everyone else was saying in the past. Not sure if there’s a new cook or not but I’m still a fan and their poke is still pretty fresh and yummy! I’ll come back again and see if it was just a fluke.

Amazing spicy ahi!!! Nuff said. Ordered 1 ½lb. Got it to go and the ajumma have extra. It was so yummy. She even added a few packages of nori(seaweed) to eat with the spicy ahi. Fabulous.

O.M.G. First time in Hawaii with a big fat list of food joints I wanted to check out. However, friend insisted we pay a visit to Kyung’s Seafood. Boy… am I glad we did. This is truly a hidden gem. Not only was the food great, the owner, Auntie Kyung, made the experience so fun and hospitable. Soju, beers, and laughter! Highlights: Abalone Sashimi, Meat Jun, Sashimi Platter, pretty much everything else we tried. Tip: if you drink too much, ask her for her hang over cure– egg soup. Thanks for being such a sweetheart Auntie Kyung and staff! It was one of our best night on the trip

Omg… This place is amazing. There are so many great places when you don’t eat somewhere that is touristy like Waikiki. If you don’t have a car though it is difficult to get to. The soju with the fresh fruit is so good. They blend it with ice and we got the strawberry one. Mmmmm… Then I would get the sashimi. 30 pieces for 30 bucks is a deal. It’s very fresh but only comes in three varieties… Tuna, salmon, and yellow tail. I would just come for this and the soju. Next thing that is amazing is the taco(octopus with seaweed). Omg… amazingly fresh! Lastly… tried the seafood paejun. I would say this was thick and wish it had something more than just octopus/squid.

Japanese and Korean food FUSION! I thought it was pretty cool that they serve ahi, salmon and hamachi sashimi, with all kinds of Korean dishes. Where do you see a mix of that? This was the first, and it was fun trying it out. I love that you can choose between a small, medium, or large sashimi platter, and then order whatever Korean food you want. The quality of the food was great! Despite it’s location and interesting set up between a fish market and a restaurant, this place is a MUST. I got their seafood jun and my wife ordered something that I cannot pronounce… let alone spell. My #1 rule of thumb when it comes to eating out is being able to say and spell what I want to eat. LOL. We both liked our food. We both thought the server was in training. We both would come back, but won’t be spending a special trip or anything like that. I don’t know if we are getting pickier or just running into places that are ho hum, but the past few reviews have been hard to write. I don’t like writing the mediocre stuff. I like it when I can say«Wow! That was really good!» Oh well, maybe next weekend…

For $ 30 the sashimi platter was kinda small. There was no fat content at all on the ahi sashimi and the hamachi was kinda of floppy and with no firmness like it was kept up to temperature. Idk if it was a bad day, but the salmon was fine. On the other hand the wife got the BBQ chicken with poke combo. For $ 13.95 it was worth it. Probably had 1⁄3 lb of poke. The lady said there were only two kinds of poke spicy and regular, but we knew there were more choices, because we saw other customers getting ones with masago and limu. Poke was on the sweet side but not bad. Honestly I probably won’t be back. If I’m craving sashimi I’d rather have the sashimi special at Ahi and Vegetable which has the same amount for $ 16.

I’d probably give this place a 5 star if service here was a little better. I remember loving this place and always wanting to come back for my kalbi/meat jun cravings but after the first one or two times, I felt like I had to raise my hand and yell«excuse me» just to get someone to take my order. I mean, I once had to yell«excuse me» while being the only customer in there because they were too busy eating their own meal to pay attention to their customer. Their kalbi and meat jun are really good here. Like I said, if service was a little better, I’d come here all the time for the stuff, but they don’t give you sides here, so i’ve found other places to go. But when I do want kalbi and poke, I would choose this place. They have a great selection of really good poke(their spicy ahi can be super duper spicy, so be weary of that. I ate half of it once and I was sick for 2 days cuz it was so spicy but other than that, the flavor was really good)

Kyung’s is legit! Looking for some good and inexpensive Korean food or a place to drink? Kyung’s is it! They also have really good spicy poke and sashimi. We ordered a large size sashimi platter($ 50) and shared it among 4 people. Totally worth it and the sashimi was pretty fresh! The hamachi was nice and buttery. I’m craving it again. We also shared the kimchee pancake which I must say is the fattest one I’ve seen. But so good! Probably one of the best I’ve had so far. The hamachi kama was delicious and the fried chicken was nice & crispy. Everything was honestly really good. Of course we had to order soju. for $ 10 a bottle you can’t go wrong. This place is open late at night and they also have a happy hour from 11am-7pm I believe? Only downfall is the parking but finding street parking isn’t too bad. This is a must go to spot!

We were walking about our neighborhood while talking about… what else, FOOD. Within the Ala Moana neighborhood and its surrounds lie many gems, holes-in-the-wall, artisan and even mom and pop eating establishments. We walked down King Street heading West when we came upon Kyung’s Seafood. Its brightly colored food pictures and Unilocal decal drew us in. Kyung’s is a small corner café serving Korean cuisine and fresh seafood. We entered and was cheerfully greeted by a woman who showed us to a table as we told her we’d be dining in. I noticed there was a refrigerated display case of several types of poké made with different seasonings. Also, they have a refrigerator that is stocked with beer, sake, soju, iced teas and water. The hospitable woman gave us menus to look at, showed us new items that had been posted along the walls and poured us glasses of iced water. She introduced herself as Kyung! We decided on just two items: Oyster Jun aka Gool Jun(oysters floured, egg battered and fried) and a combination plate of Kalbi(short ribs) and poké. Kyung told us that she makes different styles of poké such as Shoyu(soy sauce), Hot Shoyu(soy sauce), Hawaiian, Hot Masago(capelin roe) poké, plain and Tako(octopus). We chose the Shoyu poké with onions for our combination plate. Within minutes, she served us a quartet of banchan and bowls of rice which she said she’d refill at no additional charge! She returned to the kitchen to prepare our meals. Within minutes, she brought out our oyster jun and combination plate. Everything on the plates were at perfect serving temperature and the flavors were very good. The oysters were plump and tender. The semi-firm fish cubes for our poké were clean tasting, evenly cut and there were no sinewy pieces. Kyung stressed that she doesn’t use MSG in any of her food. Everything is made to order and is generously portioned. She was sweet enough to refill our banchan and water glasses while taking some time out to chat with us. We found out that she used to own Keeaumoku Seafood and still gets all of her fresh seafood from trusted fishermen. She has been in business at this corner for only 4 years but has a huge following because of the freshness, flavors and portions that she offers. She even caters parties within her café or takeout. For the quality, flavors and portions that Kyung’s Seafood offers, the higher price point may be justified. We’ll be back! #547

Going to Kyung’s Seafood with my sweetie was the highlight of my evening after leaving the opera the other night, and lucky for me the food here made up for the 3 hour long opera… :(Ugh!!! We came here around 10:00PM for a very late dinner, as the event we attended ran pretty long. Good thing Kyung’s Seafood is opened very late, and as we came in here, there was only us, and two dudes(who were ordering take-out). Upon scanning the menu, I decided on a meat jun & bbq chicken combo. My sweetie ordered a seafood tofu soup, and we decided to share a plate of mandoo on the side. With our meal they gave us free«banchan» which consisted of kimchee, bean spouts, & potato mac salad. What can I say about the grub? OUTSTANDING!!! I was really blown away with the delicious banchan, as well as the marinade on the bbq chicken! So tasty that bbq chicken!!! The meat jun was done nicely too, as the egg batter was very light & fluffy on top of the meat, as the meat jun appeared to be pan fried. My sweetie had the seafood tofu soup, and I also tried some of her soup. What can I say? It was wonderful too, as it came out boiling hot, and it was loaded with all kinds of seafood inside. The dish that stole my heart was the mandoo! It was deep fried, but the mandoo shell was on the thicker side which gave the dumpling some heft. It was also loaded with a lot of delicious filling, so you weren’t short on just eating a mandoo shell. I really could have just eaten a plate of mandoo for dinner… that’s how much I loved it! Service was fast & friendly, but of course we were there late, so all the attention went to us. Parking? I’m not sure if there is a private lot, but we parked in a metered stall on the street, as there was a lot of parking late at night. Would I come back here to have another meal? But of course! Check this place out… they serve fresh seafood too(I did not try), so maybe my next meal will be to try the seafood items.

The former owners of Keeamoku Seafood now have this little treasure of a restaurant that also doubles as a place to drink soju with friends! I recommend the abalone poke for pupus and asking for extra crushed chili on the side with your meal so you can mix it with shoyu for a nice supplemental sauce. Minus one star for the kimchi. One night the owner was eating her dinner out amongst the patrons and I noticed that the kimchi she had was the good kind, while the banchan for the customers is served with a less-than-palatable sort. They should offer the good kimchi as a menu item if it’s too costly to serve as part of the banchan. I’m sure customers would pay a little extra for the real thing!

A small little corner shop on King St. has turned into one of the most popular places to go for fresh seafood and Korean bbq. I intended to come here for the seafood, but was slightly limited by the amount of cash in my pocket. But that is what Venmo is for! That or I would just pay with card and take everyone else’s cash. Parking is ridiculously difficult to find but I suggest you make your reservations after 6:00 so you can park on the street for free. Our reservations were at 6:30, but my brother and sister in law were nearly an hour late. We were basically drinking soju until they came, but the lady, whom I refer to as the omoni, said, «you can’t drink on an empty stomach! that’s no good.» She sweetly dropped off nearly a pound of spicy ahi with some nori to some of the tables and we started to munch on that. Eventually, we decided to order first. We got the large sashimi platter and kalbi plate which was amazingly fresh and very well worth it. There were other foods we ordered after the rest came such as the Korean pancake(also very awesome, but a bit plain) and sundubu. Overall, I would love to come back again some day. Food and service were great. If they could relocate to a bigger location one day, it’d be even better!

Fresh sashimi combo! We shared a small sashimi combo and had the odeng soup(fish cake soup). It was the bf’s first o-deng and he really enjoyed it. I thought it was way over cooked but, hey that’s just me. Needless to say, good poke and fresh sashimi. It looks like a small hole in the wall joint, nothing fancy.

I’ve eaten here twice with my family & we love the food & service. I recommend trying: *The sashimi platter *Garlic shrimp(my absolute fave!) *Seafood pancake *Meatjun, mandoo & chicken platter. *FYI their mandoo is so good! NOT over cooked or oily! I love their food portion size too! Enough to feed my family of five. We all leave stuffed every time & the prices are affordable. Not to mention, we can order alcoholic beverages beer, soju. I’ve had the strawberry soju & recommend it! So yum! I look forward to eating here, whenever we are in the mood to drive to town. Definitely a hidden hole in the wall place to eat!

Yes, I know I’m late to the party, but hey, when somewhere’s good, I gotta Unilocal about it! Kyung’s…a small, unassuming corner restaurant on King Street. Blink and you’ll miss it… but don’t, you MUST come here if you are a sashimi lover. Because, hot damn, the sashimi platter is good! Plentiful and generous cuts of fish. Fresh, fresh, fresh! The Korean food is decent too! I tried the kim chee pancake(fluffier than most), kalbi(solid), and meat jun(yum!). Banchan is standard — mac salad, bean sprouts, and kim chee. Although, I am not a fan of their kim chee, shrug. Bottom line — check out Kyung’s if you are in the mood for some raw hamachi/salmon/ahi. Nom nom nommm!

Came here for early lunch and we were the first! A whole place to ourselves? Special treatment. We ordered the kalbi and spicy poke plate, meat jun, and the seafood pancake. Whaaa they give you Kalbi AND spicy poke for $ 15!?! What a freaking deal! Not only do you get some tender and juicy meat but you also get great quality poke with mac salad and rice. Although the spicy poke was more on the spicier side, I really enjoyed it. It was unexpectedly fresh. Seafood pancake was also delicious. How is it even possible to eat a Korean meal without it. As for the meat jun, it was ok. I definitely would save my money to try other things before trying that a second time. One thing worth nothing is the portions and the price. We ordered 3 plates and it rang up to $ 48. Although the price seems steep between 2 ppl, the portions make up and the quality make up for it. We were stuffed after sharing two plates and barely touched the seafood pancake. I’d recommend just ordering two plates unless you want some to go. But it IS totally worth it. Also, go during lunch with it’s not crowded. There were plenty of metered 1-hour st parking. The venue is clean and also easy to miss even though it’s on the corner. They need to up their signage. Otherwise, the venue is clean, casual, and quiet. A perfect place to catch up with someone a friend.

I stopped by for the sashimi platter, which was a pretty good deal. Sashimi to me is either good or if it’s bad, you don’t want know. The stuff here was solid. We also got one of the meat jun, which was just fine. Though the food is good, it’s nothing that I’d go out of my way for.

This is our new favorite place. The food is really good, and fair prices too. I plan to eat my way through the menu, because every time we eat here I see someone ordering something I have to try the next time. It’s a small family run operation, so be patient. If it’s crowded inside, know that you are going to wait a little while for service and food. There’s usually only three people working; one person serving/bussing/cashier, the owner cutting fish to order or making food, and one person in the back cooking. It’s a small space with close tables. There’s two tvs, one playing sports center, the other playing k-dramas. This gem is definitely worth trying. This is what we ordered this time: Kalbi $ 19.95(sizzling platter with onions) Seafood Jun $ 14.95(huge huge huge) Small sashimi $ 30.00(ahi, salmon, hamachi-super deals)

Excellent sashimi, awesome poke, and one of the best seafood pancakes around!!! I’ve tried quite a few things from their menu, but those three items are my favorites and what I highly recommend. Everything else that I’ve tried was decent and this includes their kalbi, BBQ chicken, kim chee pancake, saba, meat jun, and seafood tofu soup. Service can be lacking sometimes. We often have to get someone’s attention to ask for more water, extra napkins, etc. The most recent time that we came here, we noticed that the prices of their lunch plates increased. Would that deter me from coming back? Not a whole, but I’ll probably visit less often since there are other options out there…

Kyungs located on a corner on King St. No parking what so ever. Best to park on the sides streets. We parked in their lot in the back but it was so tight. We had a hard time getting out. It’s not a big establishment, about 50 capacity space. Their showcase upfront showing their fish and poke. It’s more than a take out place then a dine in. Very lax, don’t dress up there. lol. The food was good, wanted to see what the sashimi platter was all about. We got the small order for $ 30. We got seafood pancake, and meat jun. Portions was very big. Food was good, too much for us we took it home. Will definitely go there again. MOOD: FULL

I was craving kimchee tofu soup and asked my bb to find some. After he looked on Unilocal for awhile, he suggested Kyung’s since it wasn’t out of our way heading home. I was very excited because I’ve been craving this all day and this is a new restaurant for me to try. When we got to Kyung’s, their private parking lot was full so we had to circle around the block to look for street parking. To our luck, we found a stall on King St about a block away. It was after 6pm so it was free parking. We walked over and looked at the menu in front. There was no kimchee tofu soup listed :( We decided to go in anyways and ask if they had it or can make it. To our luck again, the kitchen said they could. We ordered that and a kalbi plate to go. The restaurant was pretty busy while we waited for our food. They had a TV playing Korean music videos which I found entertaining. We didn’t have to wait long to get our food. After we got home and ready for dinner, we opened the containers. The soup looked so yummy! After a few sips and bites of kimchee with tofu, my craving was filled. It was tasty and the portion was huge! We couldn’t finish it all and left some for the following day. The kalbi plate was disappointing because it didn’t have much kalbi and just two sides. Sides were kimchee and mac salad. We didn’t get to choose the sides. The kalbi was chewy and the smallest portion I have received when ordering kalbi. This place is a little pricey for what you get. I saw some happy hours signs in the restaurant and maybe prices are better then. It’s a clean hole in the wall with good customer service. The kitchen is accommodating to requests off the menu which is always nice. Nice to have tried Kyung’s and now I know where to find kimchee tofu soup :)

This place you just can’t beat if you’re looking for a midnight Korean food craving. I went here for my friend’s 21st bday and I enjoyed it very much. However, the parking here is hard to get at times. Be really attentive to street parking and you’ll be fine. The place is comfortable and has AC. I don’t think it would’ve mattered at night but I love a cold place to eat. They serve pitchers here and all types of food here. They served us gizzards, chicken feet(on the house), chicken wings, a platter of 3 different sashimi and a whole bunch of stuff that night. The sashimi platter had ahi, salmon, and hamachi. I love hamachi and I’m glad they had more of this than the salmon. They were perfectly cut blocks and went down like butter. Surprising because this was at night. The gizzards were perfectly sauteed and crunchy. I’m a fan of gizzards and I loved how they prepared it. The chicken feet wasn’t on the menu and the owner said this was on the house. It was spicy to some but for spicy lovers it was not spicy at all. I liked how it tasted and the sauce is the same as when you get the eggplant dish. The chicken wings were perfect and the presentation was splended. The owner was so interactive with our group. I guess it was because a few of us are regulars since high school which for them was a little more than a decade ago. I thought that was good and the sake was also on the house as well. I love this place and I’m definitely coming back here.

The spicy ahi poke and the Kalbi plate, plus the Strawberry Soju was so good, and made our Friday night, after the Bootcamp, soooo much better. They food was absolutely amazingly tasty, good portion, and the services were good. The restaurant was family operated, and the environment was cosy and warm. Just loved every bit of it, and definitely be back! Second time around, ordered the spicy Ahi Poke again, and tried fried chicken wings and spicy pork. The spicy Ahi Poke was excellent like the first time, $ 15 per portion. However, the fried chicken wings and the spicy pork were in the sweet side, and not very spicy at all. Personally, I don’t like my meat too sweet. The price of 90% of their dish has increased due to higher food cost since July 2015, according to the younger lady at the store with a ponytail. They redacted their original price in the menu, and hand write the new price. Each dish increase about $ 2 – 3 dollars. For us, we ordered one poke, 2 dishes, and the final bill with tips was about $ 55 dollars(no drinks). That’s on the expensive side. At last, hubby said the bathroom smelled bad :(

Feeling totally ripped off. Perhaps they have just gotten way too comfortable because people rave about them(I have no idea why). We picked up plates to go. First of all, $ 14-$ 16 for a plate lunch is facking ridiculous but fine, if it’s quality. I had spicy ahi and Mike had spicy shoyu poke. His 5 cubes of poke were fishy/old-tasting and my spicy ahi was more mayo than anything. I had a very hard time figuring out if there was even any fish in the mix. Though I understand banchan is just a side item, they seemed to literally scoop their sides onto the plate with a teaspoon measure. How much money are you actually saving by scrimping on cabbage or beansprouts?! Next, $ 16 for the kalbi plate — they served 4 bones. 4!!! I’m talking 11⁄3 pieces of kalbi. Talk about scrimping. I will never waste my money here again. Better off eating anywhere else for this cost. Literally anywhere.

4 stars for the Sashimi Combo plate and that’s it. Ladies and Gentlemen, come here and you shall be served fresh sashimi(yellowtail, tuna, salmon) for a super duper price. Lets make this short and straight to the point. Kyung’s Seafood is a hole in the wall part fish market/part restaurant joint. The decors are simple and the tables are sparse. nothing fancy smancy but they have CHEAP pretty decent quality sashimi. Platters start at $ 30 for a s, $ 40 for medium, and $ 50 for L. Now let’s just say that it’s not the best quality sashimi, but it’s pretty damn good. For the price you can’t really go wrong. They did have a good selection of plate lunch combos and the standard usual fair of korean staples, but in reality, just skip them. Although the Kalbi plate that we ordered was pretty decent in flavor, they definitely skimped on the meat with lots of onions on the bottom of the plate to make it look fuller. Just stick to the sashimi.

This is my nirvana. The«Woohoo! As good as it gets!» displayed next to my 5-star rating above this review box doesn’t even do this place justice. It’s that good. Why? Oh, let me tell you why. Kyung’s represents, to me, a perfect combination of good food, down-home family-style business, and ultra-casual hole-in-the-wall environs. Normally with HITW spots you’ll pay in either service, quality of food, or something else. Not here. Kyung’s has the insanely good sashimi and poke. Sure, there are other things on the menu. The chicken is tasty. But where it’s at for me is the fish. The fish is fresh. The portions are generous. And the prices are on point. For what you get, you’ll rarely find a better deal. The $ 30 and $ 50 sashimi platters are massive for the price. And did I mention the fish is fresh? More fresh than Will Smith in his rappin’ days. More fresh than your high-school boyfriend. Fresher than Mento. That fresh. When I say HITW, I mean it. This place is small, and doesn’t get much more casual. It has a display case with some pokes in it, a few janky tables, and a nice set of folks working there. It’s in an out of the way place. It seems to be under the radar for a lot of folks. You won’t find tourists here. It’s legit. LEGIT. Does it seem out of place that I’m gushing over this unassuming little joint? It hits my gustatory erogenous zones on all levels. I love good fresh sashimi and poke. I love not paying an arm and a leg for such things. And I like a lack of pretense. I like it all.

I have serious mad love for this place. This is the place I frequent when I have a craving for some serious sashimi, poke, and hamachi-kama with a bit of Korean-flair and spice to it. It tastes like home should. It’s quaint, small, humble, and McCully/Moiliili-loveable green. The owner and workers are genuinely sweet and nice. The ppl who patronize are as starved as I am and if there happens to some seating left available yet almost not enough for your party/group/you, the patrons will more than happily allow you to squeeze in with them as much as possible and even elbow to elbow much as needed. What a great community it is inside this restaurant :) If you order a lot of food for your table(how can you not?!), everyone around you including the wait staff are careful never to push them off your table. Awesome :) I love the yummy accompanying ban-chan(appetizer/) side dishes. Alll of my worries dissipate with every bite of their heavenly dishes. These are my favs: — Sashimi Platter(Ahi, Salmon, Hamachi) — Seafood Pancake(doesn’t really need sauce!) — Hamachi Kama(collar) — Poke: Ahi, Salmon — Korean soup — Mandoo — Ban Chan Screech.stop this review! What?! :/ There is a HUGE hunking however. And?!? I’ve only discovered this place within the last few years and yet I’ve been noticing over that time how quantity and quality have been ever so slightly diminished. IDK about you but it’s enough for me to notice. With each visit, I fool myself into hoping with green-paint-goodness, that this reality is really just a dream, a farce, a hiccup in time. I’ll clarify: SASHIMI — Their platter is my most favorite item. For $ 30, they’d *usually* come with large, thick slices of Ahi, Salmon, and Hamachi laid out evenly on a wooden serving board. Now I’ve noticed that a round white glass-like plate replaces the elevated wooden board. Does it hide the subtle changes? I think so :/Also, while the pieces of fish have maintained same width and depth, the height of the sashimi pieces are a lot shorter *especially* when the cut of fish is of a much higher quality(=more fat content=higher quality fish!). I am here to say that I for one notice! Does anyone else?! So not lol This seriously makes me sad :( Rather than removing pieces of fish or serving smaller pieces of fish, in my opinion would be better if they totally redid their pricing structure or went back to the former number of sashimi pieces/sizes but increase the price so patrons like me won’t assume we’re getting the same wonderful, amazing deal. SEAFOODPANCAKE — This is a «must have» for all meals there. Used to be round, thick, golden brown(=well-cooked), and crunchy. Lately this item is missing parts to it at the edges(so it is no longer as round which means less product, right?), and is not as crunchy brown. Taste and thickness are still good but crunchiness sure makes all the difference to the taste. Note that if you get a non-browned, whitish pancake, the taste will not be so great. To me this is a good indication that consistency is lacking. MANDOO — These were once filled to bulging with pork-veggie goodness! Now they’re just regular delicious mandoo that are only partially filled :(Well, at least they taste good, right?! :/ The huge filling is what made it fun to eat. I need that sink-my-teeth-into-delish-mandoo feeling back! Aack! Yep, I’m begging here! :( Couple more: TOFUSOUP — This tasty Korean soup is now watery :( POKE — The poke that is always fresh, smooth, and tasty is still as good but now unfortunately contains… strings! Strings?! No!!! It is said you can’t lead a horse to water and that there is also a law of diminishing returns. Perhaps they’ve reached that point, idk. Moving on. WATERSERVICE — I’m really not here to be served water. Yes, water is important to a dining experience but these ppl are busting their butts for us almost stuffed-into-their-restaurant patrons(jk they’re just always busy hehe), ya know? :) Once in a very blue moon they’ll give me a wrong order but I’ve let them know(nicely, of course) and they’ve quickly fixed it. Obviously I’m not here for water service. For me, food coming out likety-split when I’m outright starving(hey, it smells sooooo good in here how can you not get hungry just waiting for the menu?!) is more important but that’s just me. What’s most important to me? That I know, see, and feel that I am getting fantastic quality and quantity for my hard-earned money. Should this restaurant revert back and to their usual above-quality and –quantity, I’d definitely increase my rating to 5 stars. In the meantime, because of all the noticeable cutting here and there(to me) both in quality and quantity, I’m reluctantly giving just 3 – 3.5 which rounds to ahh about just under 4. I sure hope things improve sooner rather than later so that I will want to eat here more often, or before another place becomes my new fav! Sigh If nothing else, hope is a very good thing! :)

Kyungs is one of those places you can always count on for a great meal. I’ve dined here, I’ve eaten take out sashimi from here and I’ve catered from here. All delicious! The sashimi platter is by far one of the best deals in town. You won’t be disappointed, you may even order another one :) The spicy ahi is SPICY! If you are like me and get a sweat going when chowing on spicy foods, I highly advise not coming here on a first date. I was double fisting my water and beer to handle the heat. It wasn’t bad by all means, it was fresh and I could have kept eating more but I’m a baby when it comes to spicy food. I ordered a bowl of rice to help with the spice. Here’s the catch, its actually run by a super sweet fun Korean Mama-san, so of course the Korean food also gets five stars. There was no skimping out on the Kalbi which was flavorful and had me licking my fingers for more. A seafood pancake was also ordered for the table. I hate to be that Unilocalie but my slice tasted like it wasn’t cooked through. The guy across from me at the party was eating his happily so I’m hoping it was just mine. I’ll order it again on my next visit. I also wanted to applaud Kyungs on an amazing job on assisting me serve some bomb Korean food at a very affordable price for my last birthday party. There was so much food leftover that I made everyone even the bartender bring food home. The mandoo was a huge hit, and this is from my foodie coworker from Korea. All in all, always a great time. Thanks Kyungs!

Kyung’s Seafood is a hole in the wall part fish market, part Korean restaurant. They serve fresh sashimi and mixed to order poke in plates, as part of a combo, or platters for catering, plus the standard Korean fare – Kalbi, BBQ Chicken, Meat Jun, etc. Entrees come with Rice, Mac Salad, and Kimchee. Here’s the info if you want to check this place out: street parking, minimal service, Kdramas playing in the background. Pop in for a quiet lunch or get take out.
