Since I’d already purchased a gorgeous all teak storage unit at another Indonesian furniture store so I was looking for pieces that would compliment the unit. My husband mentioned that he’d seen this place so I thought I’d take a look at what they offered. The store is small with one parking spot in the front of the store. The woman at the front whom I assumed is the owner, greeted me and asked if there was anything in particular I was looking for. I told her I was looking for accessories so she explained that they were scattered throughout the store. While there were some nice pieces, there was nothing that I was really drawn to. The prices were okay, not overly pricy as the big stores are. As I was leaving the store I said«Thank you», she just sort of grunted without looking at me… whatever. In all honesty, the other Indonesian furniture store has twice the selection and the owners were super helpful and friendly.

What a great store! Absolutely beautiful, unique, quality items for a reasonable price. Literally anyone can find something here to add personality and interest to their home. I loved that they not only had unique furniture but also household items(decorative pieces, kitchen accessories, etc). Much better prices than«chain» furniture stores for much higher quality pieces. They can even custom make something to your exact specifications. This was my first visit and I didn’t get anything only because I was afraid of going overboard from excitement. I will definitely be returning to make a few purchases. Also, Michelle was fantastic– very helpful and nice. Only drawbacks are location and store hours– but definitely workable…

Finally decided to outfit the apartment with some furniture, and my roomie suggested we take a look at this place because she fell head over heels for a banana chair. After being disappointed at Ashely’s Furniture(because the furniture was just too big, or too expensive for what we were looking for), we headed over. Not being the«baller» types I was thinking this trip was going to be just a window shopping excursion, but it turned out to be much more. First, the store is small and packed, but they have wonderful handmade pieces all over. I was taken aback by all the cool hand designed furniture, paintings and accessories. We took a look at and tried out the banana chair, which I really liked, but didn’t know if I could feel comfortable sitting on it 24⁄7. We went back to the first floor to look closer at a teak 2-seater that I liked from before. It was more comfortable and seemed more realistic for everyday use… so we bought it! I love it actually, and the cool thing, we were able to come and pick it up the next day(you can get delivery anywhere in town for an extra $ 65) and the sales woman helped us pack it in my roomie’s SUV. She gave us tips on how to care for the furniture, and told us about an upholsterer the shop works with if we want to get more cushions made. All in all, I’m very satisfied with my purchase. Prices are pretty comparable to any other furniture store, and some prices are VERY reasonable, especially for smaller pieces. If you’re looking for something a bit more unique check this place out!

Started shopping at Michelle’s Bali Designs when the store was in Kapolei. Michelle brings years of import experience and a great eye for style to the newly renovated Sand Island Access Rd. location of her furniture and accessories store. Antiques, original designs, custom work, one of a kind items — expect to spend hours digging through stacks of incredible pieces of solid wood and other furniture at great prices. I don’t think I’ve ever left the store without making a purchase weather it was a killer piece of furniture or one of her unique yet practical accessories. Michelle also sells some local handcrafted items which means tourists can find great Hawaiian-made souvenirs. Other than that, not much of her stuff can be found anywhere else on the island and certainly not for less money. Quality, variety, eclectic, solid wood pieces at a good value; Michelle Bali Designs has become my favorite go-to place for furniture, gifts, art and accessories. There are many feathers in this girl’s cap including her gift for networking. Several times a year, Michele hosts an event at her store, bringing together an amazing circle of friends and contacts. With good food, wine and music and an impressive guest list, these events sell out and for good reason. Watch for announcements on Facebook and be one of the first to buy a ticket. You won’t be disappointed.
