I really dislike the concept of Hi5 and recycling for money; everyone should just do it all the time. That being said, I’m thrilled this new location opened. Since moving to Honolulu, the Waikiki location, then Ala Moana location both closed due to various construction projects taking away vacant lots. It was a pain to go to University or elsewhere. This location is right on Kalakaua just north of the Kapiolani intersection. In my opinion, this is one of the ugliest areas of the city. There are ‘camps,’ dirty lots, lots of construction, questionable businesses, and lots of traffic. Despite that, it’s convenient. The staff is sometimes gruff, but hardworking. They have plenty of trash cans and rarely a long wait. There seems to be ample parking.

I like recycling at this location because whenever I go, there’s no line and the people there help you out. It’s kinda like a hide away recycle spot. Look… now that I posted this, people are gonna flock to here huh? LoL. Oh, and they also buy those glass bottles that are not HI5… like wine bottles.
