I’ve been to Sunset three times since their Grand Opening. First time: Grand Opening. My friend got bottle service at the corner table outside. Service was okay, and although it was a beautiful spot we were right smack in the middle of the two stages. We were forced to get up and move inside so we could hear the DJ. Second time: Went to see High Society. Cover — $ 20. Place was dead. LAME. Third Time: Went to see Justin Martin — presale $ 10. Place was pretty crowded but not to the extent that you had to wait long at the bar for a drink. Verdict? This venue is a great addition to the Hawaii night life. I’ve frequented most clubs, and I’ve found that its always a nice option to have an outdoor space to walk out to if you need some fresh air. Sunset room has plenty of outdoors/indoors seating which is ideal since who wants to stand on their feet for 4 hours. Since the venue is fairly large, its not somewhere I would recommend going unless a famous DJ is in town. $ 20 cover is a bit steep as well seeing as even places like Addiction are only charging $ 10/person.

My friend hits me up and tells me: «Hey Lolli, I got a friend who wants to throw a wig party, but she’s looking for more girls who are actually going to dress up in a wig. You were the first person I thought of. Down for it?» «Wig party? Of course I’m in!» Our first stop of the evening was Sunset room. Now, mind you, I’m SOOOO not a club going type of girl. I’m one that likes to karaōke or cruise Chinatown looking for a fun performance based event to go to and such. I do enjoy dancing very much, just not with a line of guys waiting to sneak up on me from behind and start pelvic thrusting me in the back. Not really my deal, ya know? But hey, I’ll help a friend out and try going out somewhere new. Arrived there in my cherry red wig before any of the other party guests did, and actually before most other people as well. You have an outside deck with a DJ and bartender at a table, and then you have the inside with the fancy lights and full bar. Inside was playing your usual booty shaking music and outside had a nice electro mix. It was a little slow at first but around 11, 1130 there was a decent amount of people. Pro– I liked that everyone dressed very nicely. Adds to the«beautiful people come here» kind of atmosphere they had going. Con– Why the hell wasn’t anyone dancing? Inside you had a group of breakers who attracted a nice crowd and few people two stepping a bit, but outside NOONEWASDANCING. Everyone just standing around, sipping their alky. Yeahhhh… I need people who want to have fun, not just wall flower it up. Next stop, anyone? Overall I did like the atmosphere, they made my drinks well, and at one point a gogo dancer was on the ledge of a wall where images were being projected, so that was pretty neat. But what’s the point of all of it if everyone is sitting or standing around? Maybe it was just the crowd that night, but I got restless. Three stars for Sunset Room, hopefully you pick up more movers and shakers along the way.

The Sunset Room is located at Aloha Tower. There is valet parking or you can self-park, but you still have to pay I believe. Not 100% sure about the parking situation because I usually just cab it when I go out at night.(Safer that way!) You can send guest list names to
My friends and I went here this past weekend. I really like the venue. I think it’s a great space lot’s of room. If you get too hot inside, you can hangout outside and feel the nice Hawaiian breeze. Which I think is great! They also have a DJ outside! The staff here is cool, honestly didn’t interact with much staff except for at the door or bar. When ordering drinks I felt that our bartender was under pouring us. The shots were so tiny. For a tiny shot we still had to pay $ 7 a pop. Felt like a rip off in my opinion, but maybe the bartender was new and didn’t know any better. But I have to give this club 2 stars, mostly because the music was not good. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that the DJ sucked, but they just made poor choices in music in my opinion. Me and my friends were super excited to come out and check out this new club, but all 11 was over it after listening to so much junk music, from the DJ inside and outside. I hope this is not the kind of music/image the owners want for the club, because I feel this will make Sunset Room become less successful from other clubs around town. I honestly dont see myself coming back here because how expensive the drinks were and how little alcohol I got for it. The music was not my taste either. I work hard for my money and I don’t want to go places to waste it. Not enjoying my experience makes me feel like a waste of money.
