Happened upon this place while browsing at Ala Moana. Loved the free samples, especially the fruity teas for my kids. Have been enjoying these teas so much now that I am back in sub-zero Chicago. What a treat! I have only decreased a star because I cannot find a working website to browse/buy their teas although when I bought these I was told they ship anywhere and could order online… Probably would if I could, we’re drinking it fast!

Unilocal365CHALLENGE2014−(213÷365) «Tea & Spice and Everything Nice» Cute little shop in Ala Moana selling delicious teas and various spices. One thing unique about the majority of their teas is that the ingredients used(dominantly flowers and dried fruit) is totally edible even long after the tea has been steeped. I was interested also by the variety of spices that were available. I was able to score some Zatar for about $ 7 for 8 ounces. Seeing the types of tea and sampling them made this also easy to duplicate them myself. Stop in if you’re ever in the area, you never know what you’ll end up buying! ALOHA!!! This is a fairly new tea joint in the newly renovated area across Center Stage at Ala Moana Center. It’s a really small shop with nice displays of the tea and spices for you to smell.(If you like the smell of the tea, you will probably enjoy the taste). I like the variety they have going on. There are fruity, green and black teas and the spices they have are savory and smell really nice. Each tea is labelled(without the price) and each has their own health benefits. Melissa, or was it Megan? Okay, her name started with an «M» and she was super friendly and helpful. She explained a lot of the tea flavors to me and let me sample the Strawberry Tea(with hibiscus, mulberry and papaya) which I ended up buying. It doesn’t come in traditional tea form; it’s actually the dried fruits with the tea really finely stuck to the fruits. You don’t need a bag or a strainer for this, you can just plop a few fruit chunks in hot water and then after you drink the tea, you can eat the fruits. I also ended up buying organic green tea with chunks of dried lychee. The flavor is good but not as strong as I’d like it to be. This flavor, along with all of the other tea flavors, is loose leaf so you need a strainer to steep the tea(or not if you like to eat the tea leaves). I strongly prefer using tea bags as opposed to strainers because like Darin O mentioned in his review, those strainers are a pain in the butt to clean. Plus, it’s just quicker and easier to use a tea bag and dispose of it when you’re done. Overall, this is a pretty good spot to get loose leaf tea and spices. They also sell the strainers and some really cute mugs. The tea is pretty pricey so expect to spend some money if you plan on shopping here. I spent about $ 65 here for 2 different teas, a strainer and a mug that came with a lid and a spoon.

I walked into this place on my way to the bathroom because the woman working offered me a grapefruit tea sample. I am a sucker for tea and stopped and had some. The woman had pink hair and invited me in to look around. She told me I could eat the teas, so she started giving me samples and letting me smell stuff. She was very helpful and friendly without over selling. I bought the grapefruit tea and the earl grey. I have had many earl greys and this is by far my favorite. I also bought a small tea diffuser that was on sale. Overall this is a organic tea drinkers paradise!

My mom were having a shopping day and it just so happened when I picked her up from her house, she had made a fresh pot of tea. I asked her where she got it and she raved about TEA&SPICEHERBS. We then made it a point to drive to Ala Moana for our shopping day. Making this shop a stop. It was a small shop, but it had so much to offer. The team working there was really friendly and helpful. Being my first time there, they were patient with my questions and I left a happy customer. We hard a BBQ the next day and the spices we picked up were amazing. We will definitely be returning for more. If you are looking for a one stop shop of savory flavors and a great selection of teas that aren’t over priced, this is your new go to shop!

While doing some Christmas shopping, some friends and I noticed this new store on the ground floor level of Ala Moana. The store is very small, and has a cute vintage shop feel with tea blends kept on a little island in the center of the store, gift sets along two walls, cooking spice blends along the back wall, and a display of tea pots and infusers behind the register. I was offered a sample of their tea when I stopped in, which was something like vanilla caramel some kinda something tea. I was expecting to taste regular unsweetened tea, like the samples at Lupicia, and was very surprised to find the tea actually tasted of sweet vanilla and caramel — Their tea blends also incorporate dried fruits, as the very helpful clerk informed me, so all the sweetness comes from that. Added bonus: you can eat the mix as a snack! Their tea blends have different uses, each of which is printed on the little name card on each container that lists the ingredients as well. I ended up buying an ounce each of the Fruit Earl Grey Infusion, Jasmine Green Tea Infusion, and Good Night Infusion. They, respectively, are supposed to help with digestion, energy, and sleep. No word yet if this has been proven(they were a gift), but they smell great when being steeped. The tea is all sold loose leaf, and can be purchased either by the ounce or in pre-packaged jars and gift sets. The spices are probably also sold by weight, but I didn’t purchase any at the time. I did note that there were spice blends for cheesesteaks, chicken, roasts, meatballs, etc. I’ll definitely be back to try those out. You can pay with a card via Square, so you don’t get a paper receipt. I’m not sure what happens if you pay with cash. I noticed a lack of visible pricing on products while I was in the store, which was a bit frustrating because I didn’t want to have to keep asking what the prices were. The packaging for the tea I bought was a little blerp as well; since I bought three different kinds they were helpfully labeled so I could tell them apart, but it was in black sharpie, so now when my friend wants to make a cup there’s a lot of massaging and holding up to the light of the baggie to see what kind it is — printed stickers with the tea names would be nice. One last thing I’m bummed about(although I should have checked first) is that when I saw the Unilocal deal of $ 15 for $ 10 after I purchased exactly $ 15 worth, I was informed there’s a no return policy(doesn’t hurt to ask, right?), which I understand, I just wonder if that applies to their teapots and other tea accessories as well. All in all, cute new shop that carries some interesting teas and spices. I’d go back to try out their cooking spices, and I look forward to seeing little adjustments that will make shopping there even more pleasant. :)

Bought the apple cinnamon tea today and tried it right away after I got home. The tea tasted excellent! Just like a light apple cider. Will definitely return to try out more flavours!

Here’s the hook– it is really fresh light tastey tea– no need to use the strainer that is a bear(other b words come to mind but regardless it is a pain in the butt to clean those strainers) as all of the tea is soluble– it all is edible(tea is always edible but people don’t like chewing tea leaves as they are too woody and full of fiber). The teas are a great mix of fruit and normal flavors. –wide variety and great choices. –great fragrance. Down side– price. Unilocal has a deal now it seems but the price will make it an only for really special occasions IMO. Staff– for such a small store there are like 3 people there ready to help you(one customer) and answer as many questions as possible to get you hooked to great tea. Staff can really help you find what you are looking for and are more than happy to give a small sample if you just ask. Welcome addition to Ala Moana and the wide choices of tea now at Ala Moana.
