I can’t buy two drinks? I was accused of buying a drink for a minor, because I was ordering two drinks? I needed to explain to the bartender that I was there alone. That to me is horrible customer service, and I would never recommend to anyone. Pathetic!

Koala Bears(Hale Koa’s Secret Recipe) This recipe is enough for one 12oz glass ¾ oz Kahlua ¾ oz Bailey’s 2oz Coconut Syrup 1oz Half & Half Blended with crushed ice You’ll thank me later! Sometimes service can be slow, but we’re on vacation at a beach bar in Hawaii so don’t mind having to walk up to the bar to get a drink from time to time. At first we just drank Mai Tai’s because it’s like the specialty drink of Hawaii(is that true?). Then we discovered the lavaflow, a blended ice drink with coconut milk and strawberries and booze. It was good but not my favorite. Then out of nowhere, the night before last of our trip, we discovered the Koala Bears! They are as cute as the cuddlies you’re thinking about, but ice cold and delicious. Recipe is posted above! These are a beautiful creation that are perfect any time of day or night on the beach. We ordered four koala’s into two glasses; yes, that’s two doubles! Amazing! Fun live music in the evenings. Friday and Saturday nights until 11pm, Monday and Thursday until 10pm and ask other nights until 9pm. No food served here, but you can walk to the beach bar to get food only steps away and bring it back. Best place for sunset views and fireworks on Friday nights. Arrive an hour before these events to start drinking and get a good seat. Pro Tip: Even if you are not staying at the Hale Koa and are not a military veteran you can park at the hotel parking lot across the street and get your ticket validated here at the beach bar and get up to 6 hours of parking for only $ 3 which is a great deal!

I’ve checked in here 7 times so far, and have to say that every time I have experiences great service! The bartenders are friendly, good to chat with and happily recommend tasty drinks. Hale Koa prides themselves on their famous Maitai too! Prices are good, quality of drinks is good, military discount.

Their drinks are strong, and good. Best value in Waikiki so far — super strong drinks. You want to get your money’s worth? Come here. Super nice beach side setting, great beach, friendly staff, discounts for active Military(thank you for your service!) and did I mention strong drinks?

Note to self: take everything that Über drivers have to say with a grain of salt. Forever. I had an Über driver who SWORE that he had experienced all of the Mai Tais on the island, and that the one here was, far and away, the best. He talked about it for like 20 minutes. It wasn’t. It was way too sweet, they don’t even use Myers’s rum(blasphemy if you know a good Mai Tai), and it was just really forgettable overall. The food is satisfying, and the setting is wonderful. But the Mai Tai sucks. Be warned.

Located along the beach line, this is a nice place to enjoy some food and drinks while enjoying the view! There are plenty of tables for you to choose. At peak hours the tables do fill up but there is also a bar to belly up to. Drink and food menus are on each table. Drinks are served by the waiter and waitresses. If you’d like some food the snack bar along the back is where you’d place your order. We tried some of their nachos grande to split. They cover it with chili, cheese, sour cream and salsa. They are just ok. I probably wouldn’t order them again. They were cheap enough but the chili wasn’t good. During the evening hours they have live music playing. It was different every night so you’d get a nice variance. To enjoy some drinks, sure I’d stop here again. You can’t beat the view!

What type of patron are you? 1. Military 2. Beach go-er 3. Surfer 4. Alcoholic on vacation Choose one & read the one most applicable to you! 1. Military: Maybe you’re a guest at the Hale Koa hotel or maybe you’re just visiting Waikiki and you heard about their military discounts. Yup, massive military discount. You can view my picture of their drink menu below, but to give you an idea, big glass of Guiness is $ 6.80 for you while non-military pays $ 8.50 for the same glass. One more– a glass of Mai Tai is $ 7.80 for you and $ 9.75 for the non-military. Yay to discounts! 2. Beach go-er: This bar is located right next to Fort Derussy beach park. There are beach volleyball courts, tennis courts, spacious green grassy areas to have a picnic, few grills, and a nice(not as crowded as the main Waikiki beach nearby) beach with gentle waves(for the most part). The Barefoot Bar is perfect for an afternoon drink by the beach as it’s located right next to the beach. You can also see the weekly Friday fireworks right from your seat(7:45pm, btw). You might have one or two palm trees blocking your view, but that makes for a Hawaiian picturesque photo op, right?! 3. Surfer: Do you surf at Pops? After your surf sesh, you can make a short ~2−3 min walk over to this bar for a cold refreshing beer. I usually just leave my board right in front of the entrance on top of the green grassy area off to the side. Am I too trusting? Hahaha, no one ever steals it. My friend left his board couple of times with mine and he has a super nice Steve Morgan board. Never stolen. Shrugs. Up to you! 4. Alcoholic on vacation: This is your spot. Their Mai Tai’s may not be the best tasting one because it’s 99% rum and 1% whatever non-alcoholic thing that goes in a Mai Tai. But dammit, you’re here to get drunk and you can do it for just $ 7.80(or $ 9.75 if you’re not military. Sorry.) It’s usually not too crowded during the weekdays/day time, so you can easily find a seat or a spot at the bar. On weekends/nights, you can enjoy live music with your drink, but may be a bit tough to find seating. If you did find seating, the servers are pretty quick with your orders no matter how crowded the place is. Impressive, because pretty sure there are only 2 servers working the entire place. *Parking: Fort Derussy Paid Parking Lot across the street(away from the beach, obvi). You can get it validated at Hale Koa with your military ID for a discounted parking price.

Ideal location right on the beach, but you get what you pay for in terms of food and drink. Yes, it’s a steal to pay $ 10 instead of $ 13 for a drink in Honolulu, but I’d rather pay an extra $ 3 and have my drink taste more interesting than sugary cocktail mix and water. Food was fairly priced for stadium fare(re-heated from frozen packages). Service also left much to be desired. Overall, if you’re not picky about drink and food quality, Barefoot provides great live music and a fun atmosphere. Just don’t be blinded by low prices

C’mon, it’s a barefoot bar located outside the Hale Koa with cold Longboard and Big Wave drafts and full bar Mai Tai’s. A total no brainier with a clean rest room. Aloha

The service is great and you are right on the beach. Prices are not high compared to other venues right in on the beach in Waikiki. You can’t beat the location and even have a view of the Friday night fireworks from the Hilton next door. You don’t have to be military to come here. Their non military prices are also very good relative to comparable venues. Plus they have pretty good live music most evenings. The bartenders don’t water down the drinks and you can order a snack from the adjacent snack bar and bring it to your table. Those guys make a mean mojito too!

This became one of my local bars while on vacation in Oahu Waikiki Hawaii. Staff was friendly even the waitress who called my nephew a jerk I completely understood why she did it lol Also they were nice enough to let me use the military discount and the bartender gave me some samples before making me my drink now the finger food was your average baseball stadium food but for a lot less of their price. There was a band playing so the entertainment was lively and on Fridays if you’re ever here it’s the perfect spot to view the Hilton fireworks show. Mahalo

If you like to drink and sit on the beach in Waikiki, then you come to the right place. Located in the Hale Koa hotel, this place is a seat yourself type of place. It is rather large and should only be filled for happy hour. The view to the beach is nice and the sunset is spectacular. The drinks, like any Waikiki bar is expensive. The plastic chairs and tables are there for beach goers still wet and sandy to relax as well.

DoD hotel and resort. Visited on a Tuesday night for a few hours of live music and an amazing Mai tai or 2. If you don’t care for fried food like myself, swing by Safeway and bring your own pole bowl. Great view Great drinks Great love music I recommend a swing by this bar anytime

The line for drinks gets pretty long around sunset. Had the mojitos, decent in price especially with the location of the bar. Sat at the bar and got to observe the bartenders, who were all working quickly and really nice. Great views and music in the background that night. Great place to hang out on Waikiki Beach with cocktails.

Wow I love this bar. It’s so relaxing. I enjoy sitting there watching the sunset or conk nods the beach in my bathing suit to grabs a drink. The prices are, even for non military $ 2 cheaper than down farther in Waikiki and about $ 3.50 less for DoD members. The bartenders have been fantastic to us; haven’t had to wait or hunt one down once. I have tried a different drink each time and haven’t been disappointed in any, though I wasn’t a huge fan of the scorpion. My wife has really enjoyed the lava flow(repeatedly!). One critique: get more drink menus — having to pass them back and forth between customers is annoying.

The Barefoot Bar located right on Waikiki Beach is probably one of my favorite beach bars in the Waikiki area. It offers a great view of the beach and seating is first come, first serve. It’s attached to the Hale Koa Hotel and is not only open to just military & dependents, but also to the public. If you’re into fruity & island/tropical drinks like myself, you will definitely not be disappointed by their great list of cocktails. A few of my favorites include the Koala Bear, Pink Dimples, & of course the Lava Flow(all of which are frozen). Furthermore, although they don’t serve food, there is a snack bar conveniently located right next to the bar. They serve your basic appetizers like nachos, french fries, chicken wings, onion rings & more. If you’re in this area of Waikiki and need to grab a quick bite and a drink, definitely check out this bar!

I enjoyed a few different cocktails at The Barefoot Bar. The bartenders were nice, and my friends and I were happy with all of the drinks we ordered. Their location is the highlight, and I would definitely go back to enjoy a drink by the beach.

For starters– the food and drinks are wonderful. If I were writing this purely based off of the food, i would be giving it five stars(especially since the food is so cheap). The chairs and tables are a little dirty, the chairs are older plastic chairs. However, as others have said, it’s an amazing view of sunset. There was live music with a mix of oldies and new songs. The servers are very nice but overworked– they only come by to give you a drink and a check because they are so busy. You have to get your own food from a stand by the bar, they do not bring it to you. We got the nachos and they filled my husband and I up for dinner for only $ 6.95. Overall, great for cheap food and drinks by the beach.

This place is great! It has a gorgeous view of the ocean and delicious cheap drinks! I have the blue Hawaiian and it was delicious! The view of the beach is beautiful at sunset but get there early because it gets super busy and can be hard to find a seat with a good view. The servers are all very friendly and attentive. And the prices are awesome!!!
