Great place for local fusion food! Ordered the salmon ochazuke with rice which was not bad. The Kalbi with Kim chee fried rice is pretty good. They also have variety of salads and yummy local plates. I love their tapioca dessert too here!

The only way where I can get my husband to go to the mall is to ask him if he wants to do lunch at The Pineapple Room. Hi and I both love The Pineapple Room and Alan Wong’s. These two restaurants are a must go when we’re in Oahu. The service is so great and the place is bright and airy. We ordered the following: Alan Wong Bloody Mary: They use wasabi and tomato paste to make this delicious concoction. Ho Farms Tomato & Watermelon Salad: delicious and refreshing. This is a great starter to any meal. The Loco Moco: It was OK, too heavy and the hamburger patty was very dense. We should have ordered something else. Express Lunch Soup, Salad and Sandwich Plus Dessert — It came with a small cup of clam chowder, Cesar Salad and the Kalua Pig BLT and a strawberry something for dessert. It was all good. Halo Halo dessert: I loved it!!! it had slices of fresh fruit, tapioca pearls and delicious coconut milk. This is a must get dessert at The Pineapple Room. I’m looking forward to going again.

My girlfriend and I seem to be alternating years in which we clean out our savings New Year’s Day while tempting our fate with the stores at Ala Moana offering fukubukuro bags. After successfully stimulating the local economy on the first day of the year we looked at each other famished as we hadn’t eaten since last year and decided we must eat NOW. So like any good indecisive Yeeps, we took to the Unilocal app hoping that like the Magic 8 ball of our youth, if we shook our cell phones enough, Unilocal would tell us where to eat… and that’s exactly how we ended up at The Pineapple Room. We used Open Table to secure a reservation«just in case» only to arrive at the restaurant and find that there was a minimum forty(40) minute wait for those who had just walked in. We patted ourselves on the back for a job well done on our way to our table. If you’re headed over to the Pineapple Room hoping to find a «cheap meal» because the restaurant is located in a mall, turn around, go down the escalator and eat in the food court. If you’re dining here for lunch, don’t be fooled by the menu to think«oh it’s just a burger,» either. Everything served clearly has thought put into it and is far from your run of the mill burger. The lunch menu offers several salad options as well as a few things to nosh on. The main menu consists of six sandwich choices which range from burgers to fish sandwiches to kalua pork BLTs as well as two heartier selections of loco moco and salmon. Since we were famished we decided to go with their Express Lunch option which included a cup of soup, caesar salad, kalua pork BLT as well as Kula strawberry tiramisu for $ 29. I cannot stress what a good value the express lunch is. Our soup which was clam chowder that day was absolutely delightful. The kalua pork blt was served on a soft onion roll which reminded me of rolls my grandma used to hoard from a bakery in Brooklyn. The tiramisu reminded me more of a shortcake, but it was delightful. My only meh of the meal was the salad as the dressing had a bit too strong of an anchovy taste for my liking. I know I’m not in the majority as I overheard several other patrons commenting as to how much they were enjoying their salads(while I pushed mine around on the plate). Service was attentive without being over bearing and polite. Our waters never were less than half full, and despite knowing there were others waiting to dine, we never felt rushed while eating. The Pineapple Room is without a doubt a lovely escape after shopping. If you’re planning on dining though, make sure to use Open Table and save yourself the wait time, you won’t regret it.

For the price point, I would say it’s about average. I would say it’s in between a «$$» and«$$$» for a lunch meal. A salad or burger is anywhere between $ 15 to $ 20… that ain’t no «$$» to me. But I will say it’s an affordable menu for some place so classy. Customer service was average. Everything was on point, except no smile almost. But she definitely wasn’t rude. Maybe she had a bad day. Oh well. I can take it. She was accommodating and everything was timely. During this lunch, that’s all that really mattered. It’s very clean and it’s a great lunch spot to go with your girlfriends or your grandma or someone who enjoys that type of atmosphere. I’m not sure exactly about people comparing it to exclusive restaurants. Nothing really stood out to me except the Strawberry Tiramisu. Bread: It was soft and better than your average. Not digging the sauce but because it’s unique, it has bonus points for being different than your typical butter. But I didn’t like the mayo taste.(3 stars) Water/Hot water: The water was brought to us immediately. Our water was always refilled and we never had to ask. When we sat down we asked for hot water, which was brought to us in a cute little ceramic pot and teacup.(5 stars) Caesar salad: Okay so I LOVE how the chicken is cooked on this caesar salad and I love everything about it… except the sauce. And that’s a big thing. It tastes no hint of caesar. I don’t like heavy caesars and this was light, but definitely not digging the sauce. Hmm… maybe I’m not digging any of the sauces this place has to offer.(3 stars; would’ve been 5 if the sauce was up to par) Pineapple room burger: It definitely has it’s own unique flavor. And I LOVE the fact that this burger has grass fed beef. It didn’t stand out but it is above average. At that price point, maybe average. The fries that comes with it was«okay.» I think our other options instead of fries was caesar or soup.(3 stars) My friend Sheenal had the salmon and she liked it and my friend Avi had the lunch express, which she liked as well. So the ONE plate that did stand out was the strawberry tiramisu. It was super good! Extremely small but so good. Which is surprising because I’m a dark chocolate dessert type of fan.

Just ate here for dinner and the salmon ochazuke risotto was so good! Like heavenly good! The salmon was cooked perfectly and wasn’t fishy, just tasty. The rice was creamy! Very cool and delicious twist. $ 30 I tried my friends Opakapaka and it was also very tasty! $ 35 I tried a bite of the Loco Moco and it was good, but not as good as the two fish entrees. $ 27 The Wailua Brownie Ala mode was really good. I liked the mac nut brittle it came with too. The Lilikoi Bread Pudding Crem Bru Le was a little too sweet for me. The Molokai Mule was tasty, but I got no buzz, boo! I enjoyed my dinner but prefer the lunch menu. All of the sandwiches are on the lunch menu are delish and they also have the Salmon Ochazuke Risotto which I would definitely order again. Still one of my favorites, but I’d probably go back during their lunch hours.

Five of us went to lunch on December 6. The Pineapple Room is normally our go to place for several of my different lunch bunches. After this last visit, I will give it a rest for a while and have told other groups of my last experience. We will all pass for a while. On that particular day we all felt that things were just not what we have come to expect. Our favorite server in the past was Daniel, who wore an arm cover over his tattoos. Sadly, he is no longer there. But on December 6 we sat at a table near the windows. A friend attempted to move her chair forward but her shoes kept sliding on the floor. Under her seat was a pile of smashed potato chips. This was soon swept up. The table did not seem clean so we took out our disinfectant wipes and wiped it down. The food was only Ok but our waitress never came by to check on us. The water glasses were filled and at one point, spilled onto the table. We wiped that up. But this was what soured us. The hostess, when we left at 2:00 was a young gal, Polynesian in appearance, long hair, was asked to take our picture in front of the reception desk. She rolled her eyes. two in our party were still collecting their things so she handed the camera back. This was understandable. I did not expect her to wait. She showed one party to their table and returned. Our remaining two friends joined us and this hostess just looked at us. So I asked her if she could take our picture. With a second rolling of eyes, she took one picture and handed the camera back and walked away. I HAVENEVEREXPERIENCEDTHIS. Maybe other staff members at other restaurants spoil us when I get the following: OFCOURSE I WILLBEHAPPYTOTAKEYOURPICTURE!!! or Let me take two more so I know I got it right. or Please check the photo because if it isn’t right, I will take another. I have NEVER gotten an attitude accompanied with rolling eyes. Is the hostess trained to know that they represent the restaurant? They are the FIRSTANDTHELASTIMPRESSION . so, sadly, we won’t be back for a long time. There are many, many, many alternatives right at the shopping center.

I think the very first time I was here it was located in the legendary Liberty House. Who remembers that? *half of you raise your hand* *a third scratches their pink hair* Yet, I’m really not sure, but one thing is certain… time moves on… Today, The Pineapple Room welcomes guests with a plantation elegance all its own. Very local, with a sophisticated vibe, yet not as stuffy as the Alan«only dinner» Wong restaurants. In fact, casual is the norm here. The place always seems full and the quick reflexes of the friendly hosts and wait staff prepare a relaxing and comfortable environment that is a local favorite, hence winning the Silver for Honolulu Magazine’s «Hale Aina» Award — Best Business Luncheon. Personally, I have used this spot for both Business and Pau Hana — works every-time. The location is ideal for both locals and tourists alike, and satisfies our palates with creative twists on island classics. All ingredients are of the freshest batch. On my latest visits, I came over for lunch with co-workers, but if you choose lunch here, I would suggest reservations and expect lunch over an hour. Realize even though it is located at a mall — this is certainly not fast food — it’s still«Alan Wong». So expect culinary food at more affordable prices. I prefer lunch here. I mean if you opt for dinner, heck head over to the«other» Alan Wong’s is my suggestion, but lunch wise this place is a great option… I chose The Special of the Day: Hawaiian Short Ribs sandwich with side Cesar Salad($ 18). Plantation Iced Tea($ 4) beverage of choice, but willpower needed if you’re on work time as a full bar is available too. Shh. My co-worker chose the Loco-Moco($ 21.50 + optional longboard pairing at $ 5.50 more) and it’s probably the most famous dish here, or should I say infamous, so be prepared to come with an empty stomach on this gut-buster! Both dishes were amazing and even my side Cesar Salad was delicious. The softest house bread with an amazing lilikoi butter spread precedes the meal! On other occasions I’ve sat at the bar for dessert or cocktails. I’ve had the Wailua Chocolate Brownie Ala Mode and the signature Halo Halo — both BOMB.DOT.COM! Cocktails I’ve tried were the«Wong Way» aka«Bully’s» Martini(pineapple juice & svedka vodka & pineapple wedge), & Tropics Colada(fruit, coconut, Lahaina rum) — both on the«hotel pricey» side, but at least it was delicious! The bar is a great place for a «quicker» lunch too, if you don’t mind sharing with the tourists, the bartender that is, not your food, silly. Kahuna Tip — If you have a choice go with the chubby bartender, if you want a friendlier vibe. The skinner one gets the job done, but a tad grouchy and his frown IS his smile. No biggie tho. Whatevah’s. Lastly, the ambiance is nice, but not stuffy — Realize you’re at the mall! The staff friendly and professional, but with a natural vibe. The food & drinks probably not the greatest deal in Hawaii, but once again it’s convenient and always remember you’re at the mall, brah! Overall, you really can’t go «Wong» coming here — sorry, not sorry, I couldn’t help it: P You get more mileage from lunch over dinner, but hey that’s just me being frugal aka«Chang», or if you prefer you can head to the food court, pay less, and here’s your aspirin… *flicks wrist* SOLID. Overall Grade: 4.4-Stars!

Alan Wong’s Pineapple Room on the 3rd floor in Macys is a great place to have a business lunch meeting, brunch with the girls, celebrate a special occasion, or just when you feel like treating yourself to a delicious meal! Prices are reasonable considering the quality of food and excellent service you receive when you dine at the Pineapple Room. Reservations are recommended, especially at peak hours since it’s usually quite busy. My go to menu item here is their salmon chazuke risotto. They serve a perfectly cooked salmon on top of a creamy risotto and then pour hot tea at the table. They season everything perfectly and the salmon just flakes off. Soooo good! Once you try this dish, you won’t want to order anything else =) One last thing to mention is that they do have a private/small banquet room behind the bar that I’ve attended other events at before.

I do have to say– compared to the most exclusive restaurants in say Chicago– The Pineapple Room by Alan Wong is just on par with them in class, service and taste. Best value I think in all of Honolulu for the best dining experience!!! Miso Garlic Butterfish — I think this may be the one dish that I would recommend to any of my chef cousins to taste as being something different. My 1 cousin is a LA chef and it would be hard to impress him– but the Miso Garlic Butterfish would for sure. Super well done. Locals in general love soyobeans, the Stir Fried Soybeans are great but in public I don’t want to eat them infront of others because I always want to eat the skin of the soyo. I grew up eating fresh IL corn and soyo and other Del Monte vegs like peas, on the field before picking from my Grampa– so I know fresh. Old Fashion Burger and Pineapple room Burger are just wonderful– I too know that I should not eat a burger at such a fine restaurant but, I still want to know if it is way better than what I make at home– to asnwer that one the answer is yes– WAYYYYYYY Better! Staff are among the best. Service is super. What’s more to say??? They do a great job of just keeping in touch with their fans/customers. They email specials and different occasions letting people know that quality should still be on the radar.
I;ll be happy again and again to be back there.

I’m torn about giving a 3 or 4 star review, because some dishes were nearly perfect, but others were misses, and the service was sorely lacking in such a higher-end restaurant. 5 stars: furikake crusted salmon with ochazuke risotto, had salmon cooked perfectly crispy on the outside and yet moist inside, topping creamy rice. The strawberry tiramisu was light with a crunchy bottom. 4 stars: Chinese-style steamed opakapaka, very tasty and moist. Braised short ribs, meaty with lots of flavor and meltingly soft. Bread pudding with lilikoi brûlée was deliciously eggy and creamy. 3 stars: sizzling hapa poke, had nice big ahi chunks and seasoned musubis, but the limu/onion mixture underneath them on the sizzling plate was so salty it was nearly inedible. Maybe we weren’t supposed to eat it? But you can in every other poke… 2 stars: Peppercorn grass fed beef steak – although it was okay texture-wise, it was not trimmed well and had lots of gristle. The peppercorn sauce also interfered with rather than enhanced the natural flavor of the steak. Rare furikake-crusted ahi: this dish is simply unappetizing to look at due to the port butter sauce it comes with. The ahi was good, but please replace this sauce with something tastier and that doesn’t look like blended liver sauce. Chocolate pudding: I really wanted to like this. Even though it had a rich chocolate taste and not overly sweet, it was too grainy to enjoy. Service: our servers were very hospitable and accommodating. There was a definite lack of bus people, however, because our appetizer dishes and plates were not cleared away until well after we had received our entrees, forcing us to stack our dirty dishes to make room for the entrees. I don’t recall ever having to do this in a restaurant of this caliber. I do hope the restaurant can fix these minor inconsistencies, because we enjoyed dining here in the past and would like to again soon.

Pineapple Room by Alan Wong is located on the 3rd floor of Macy’s at Ala Moana Shopping Center. You could enter from inside Macy’s or from the 3rd floor parking lot(near Macy’s or Shirokiya). The restaurant itself is about medium size but not crowded due to it being a fancy high end restaurant. There is a bar for those who want to get their drink on before eating. The service is pretty good(the first time I went it was great, the second not so much but maybe they were short staff so I’m giving them a benefit of a doubt). They serve a complimentary nice fluffy bread with this spicy butter(I forgot what it actually is but its so good). The food itself is amazing! The loco moco is great! Tasted amazing. The Kalua Pork BLT was awesome too! And then the soybeans were amazing too! The sauce they’re cooked in makes it taste awesome. I just described lunch but one day I need to get dinner there! I’m sure the dinner menu is just as amazing as lunch.

I had always discounted The Pineapple Room because it’s a department store restaurant. Whenever I’d look for a «fancy» restaurant for special occasion dinner reservations, I always skipped right past because who wants to eat at Macy’s for their birthday?! Well, my stomach is delighted to report that my brain was woefully misguided. I stumbled upon TPR while I was shopping for sheets(mmm midpriced linens by Martha Stewart excite me). The dining room at late lunchtime was mostly empty so we were seated right away. Looking around, I noticed there aren’t any booths, just tables. I suppose it allows for flexibility in seating arrangements, but it’s a little less intimate this way. Water was served as soon as we sat down, followed by silverware, bread and appetizer plates, and a focaccia-type bread with flavored butter. The menu is comprehensive and has a clear local-Asian-Pacific-fusion theme. So many dishes sounded appetizing to me, but I went with the New Zealand Furikake Crusted King Salmon. I was so excited to try ochazuke for the first time, and it totally lived up to and exceeded my expectations. The salmon was cooked medium, the risotto was just right, and the bubu arare added a neat little crunchy texture. The green tea is poured over the risotto and, when eaten together, the dish hit all the right notes. I was totally in heaven! I also tried a salad with cubes of ahi. The fish was so soft and fresh. Nom. When the entrees were done, I looked over the dessert menu out of curiosity. The menu on Unilocal doesn’t do it justice! I was torn between the Kula Strawberry Tiramisu, Lilikoi Bread Pudding«Brulee,» Housemade Malasadas and the Waialua Old Fashioned Chocolate Pudding(so basically most of the desserts!) i ended up trying(devouring) the malasadas and pudding. The malasadas take extra time because they’re made fresh, and you can mix-and-match haupia, lilikoi and dobash fillings. For reference, the dough is more Punahou Carnival than Leonard’s. The chocolate pudding is definitely not from one of those children’s pudding cups. It’s thick, smooth and rich. What I love most is that it’s not too sweet and it can definitely serve two people. We also ordered the Cookies and Treats platter. The cookies were good, but the presentation is a little old fashioned with its powdered sugar dusting. I will definitely be back, and I’ll report back if I have anything new to say. Overall, I would can say that I am a fan of TPR.

The Food was ok. The service was good, we enjoyed the free bread, and the nice & fast service. The pineapple room burger was ok, but the hamburger meat teased frozen. The 2 layers of onion ring was too much. The free bread was nice, tasty and fluffy, and white dipping sauce was tasty.

This is one of Mark H’s favorite weekend breakfast spots and I agree with him that the food here is delicious. The go-to dish for both of us is the«Spong» moco, which is house-made spam served on kalua pig fried rice with 2 eggs on top. It’s Alan Wong’s take on a Hawaii standard, the Loco moco… they also serve a «regular» Loco moco with a grass fed beef patty on fried rice. Both mocos are served with veal jus and both are delicious. One thing to know is sometimes the Spong moco isn’t on the menu but if you ask, they may still have it available. The other things we tried are the House-made corned beef which has with 2 eggs and pineapple ketchup, the 3 egg omelet, and the Hawaiian style eggs benedict which comes with 2 poached eggs on top of kalua pig taro hash with luau leaf hollandaise. All of these dishes are yummy but the Spong moco is still our favorite. The other thing that’s a must for us to get is the Wong way Bloody Mary. This is definitely the most delicious Bloody Mary I’ve ever had. It has some Ume paste and Li hing mui spice added into it and has the perfect amount of «spice kick» to it. It is also rimmed with wasabi paste which adds even more depth to it. I could drink these all day.

My friend browsed all the Restaurant Weeks menu and the 10hr miso glazed pork belly caught his eye. It was literally last week I was going to buy him Your Kitchens pork bowl, as he never tried it. Unfortunately(or maybe fortunately) they are closed until 12⁄3 so no bowl for him. Im thinking thats why he wanted to try here. Servers were friendly and attentive and even joked around with us(wait for it). The focaccia bread and whatever spread they serve is so ono. The starter was a white poached pear salad with a vinaigrette dressing. This was really really good. If you know me I don’t like anything green in my mouth, but the dressing was so good, tangy, sweet and with an edge to it. I really liked this. The main dish we came for was a huge(or I should say a small) disappointment. The taste was right on, but the pork was super fatty and there was only three thinly sliced pieces sitting atop a some lotus root crap. The server seeing our empty plates that we devoured within literally a few minutes came by and joked, «eh how come they only gave you the small portion, lemme go back to the kitchen and get the rest of your order». Hardy har har, we both were not trilled. For dessert, 3 small PROFITeroles, which is a fancy name for cream puffs. Mostly tasteless, but looked pretty. Now getting back to Your kitchen, the shoyu port tasted exactly the same and for those that have been there you get about six or seven nice size pieces atop rice and a panko crusted egg for $ 9. So yes, the portion size for $ 50 was ridiculous, but hey it has AWs name attached to it so i guess thats what you pay for.

This was my first time trying this place out. If u go to the top parking level of Ala Moana it is located in Macy’s. We attended a baby shower for one of my bff’s/sister. It was cute because a couple of weeks before the shower we pre-ordered our food. Not knowing how the food was or the place I stayed simple. I ordered the Old Fashion Burger n Da Poi Bowl… Upon arrival we were directed to the back of the restaurant, being that it was a «brunch» kinda thing the restaurant wasnt crowded, but good amount of people in there. The staff was very friendly and always smiled. We met our party towards the back of the restaurant n being it was a baby shower we didnt know how the set up was going to be. It was a very intimate baby shower no more than 18 of us. We were all given place cards with our names on them n what we ordered, which I believe my Bff’s mom made for us all, hence the pre-order… The staff immediately took our drink orders n was very punctual every time our drink went down a little. So I ordered the Old fashion burger(med cooked) n Da poi bowl, let me just say Da poi bowl got me. It was filled with kalua pig n lomi salmon mixed… Sounds nasty right? Welllll let me tell you, this bowl was filled with SOOOMUCH flavor, it was AMAZING!!! Now onto my burger, this thing was nice, juicy n HUGE! YESHUGE, I had to smash it a little just so I could bite it, LOL… The rest of the sisters had caesar salad, the Pineapple Burger & loco moco… They all enjoyed their plate… We were so full we didnt even have room for dessert which is way I can’t review for any of the desserts, LOL… Overall experience here was AMAZING!!!

The Pineapple Room, by Alan Wong, is located in Macy’s Department Store in the Ala Moana Shopping Center. If you are looking for an elegant restaurant with a nice ambiance, great food, and great service in the mall and away from the noisy, busy, overly crowded food court, The Pineapple Room is a must! Signature dishes are exceptional, created by the notable culinary award winning chef Alan Wong! There are literally thousands of parking stalls in the Ala Moana Shopping Center so parking should never be an issue. The Pineapple Room was opened for as long as I can remember and still holding strong over the decades! I love this place since the day they opened(gosh, I remember working the seasonal holiday shifts at the department store in high school). We started with the Pineapple Room Caesar Salad, made from Kula baby romaine lettuce, lomi tomatoes, with huli spiced grilled chicken. This is a very delicious salad, among the best Caesar salads I have ever had! For my main entrée, I was craving a burger, and our server recommended the Pineapple Room Burger, made from Makaweli Ranch grass fed beef, onion rings, bacon, cheddar cheese, avocado salsa, onion bun. I had the wasabi potato salad instead of the French fries! I chose this salad over fries because it’s not like you can get wasabi potato salad just anywhere! Very delicious! The Pineapple Room is a beautiful restaurant! Ambiance is casual! Service, exceptional! I would consider their prices as «moderate», however, some may say it’s on the higher end. I believe for the quality of the dishes, the prices are still very reasonable compared to eating out at a fancy restaurant! This is not your food court! This is Alan Wong’s! The prices and dishes on the menu stand by the name! :)

After the recent sale of our home, we chose to dine at The Pineapple Room with our realtor because its convenient location and great Pacific Regional Tastes. Sure, it’s located on the Mauka-end of Macy’s Department Store and doesn’t have a spectacular ocean view but we were confident about the menu and service. We made reservations through my trusty Open Table App, arrived on time to meet with our realtor and were seated right away. Our server, Morgan, greeted us as we were being seated. She took our beverage and appetizer orders right away as we continued to peruse the menu. By the time she returned, we had all decided upon our meals. The Starter: –Stir Fried Soybeans aka Edamame: these protein packed soybeans were stir fried in garlic, chilies, ginger and sesame seed oil. We like the kick of the garlic and chilies as it complimented our ciders and beer. It’s probably one of Chef Alan Wong’s signature appetizers that actually had us feeling like we were eating healthy. –Ho Farms Tomato & Watermelon Salad: this salad was a Summery and refreshing with its combination of these two fruits, local goat cheese and its ume(Japanese plum) dressing. Both tomatoes and watermelon cubes were seedless and naturally sweet. The creamy goat cheese added a tangy and somewhat grassy taste to balance the sweetness. The ume(Japanese plum) dressing added a pleasant tartness to balance all of the fruity sweetness. I could’ve eaten the salad by myself but I shared it among friends. The Food: — Hoisin Sriracha Glazed Short Ribs: fork-tender boneless short ribs were served with prawns, mustard cabbage, Tobanjan(Sichuan-style chile and fermented broad bean sauce) sauce and topped with Island goat cheese. The beef was tender and readily pulled apart when cut into. The glaze was a sweet/spicy flavor and it apparently had a good flavor and texture as my husband devoured it. — Makaweli Kaua’i Grass Fed Beef Ribeye Steak: 12 oz ribeye served with brined mushrooms, garlic butter and Sumida Farms watercress. Both our realtor and I ordered this dish. Hey, if it’s got garlic butter, you know it’s going to be good! But, really what intrigued me was the brined mushrooms. The ribeye steaks were tender and cooked perfectly to medium rare doneness. Our steak knives just seemed to glide through the beef as we carved into our steaks. The garlic butter had oozed its seasoning into the broiled steaks which added to the flavor richness. We finished our steaks about the same time as my husband finished his meal. It was obvious to Morgan, our server, that we all enjoyed the flavors and portions. Dessert:(we always try to save room) –Haupia Tapioca«Halo Halo»: This is the Pineapple Room’s Signature dessert that features haupia(coconut pudding) tapioca served with fresh fruits, azuki(sweet red beans) beans, sweet corn and topped with coconut shave ice. This dessert is not for the faint of heart as it came in a large soda fountain glass and filled to its brim. It was a flavor and textural party in each spoonful. –Lilikoi(Passion Fruit) Bread Pudding Brûlée: a deep ramekin stuffed with housemade chiffon croûton brioche bread soaked in custard and topped with lilikoi(passion fruit) curd brûlée. If you’re a bread pudding aficionado this one could take your taste buds to another level! The brioche was light, buttery and eggy while the lilikoi curd added its sweet-tartness. Passion fruit curd evokes a sense of the tropics and Hawaiian paradise. –Muddy Buddy: coffee concoction blended with caramel, chocolate and hazelnut. What can I say… My husband ordered this after dinner treat and didn’t even share! :(He did report that the iced coffee beverage/frappé wasn’t overly sweet and had an even blend of caramel, chocolate and hazelnut. I’m assuming that the really liked it as he slurped it down. OVERALL: We had an enjoyable evening with attentive service, good food and great companionship. The ambiance of this restaurant within Macy’s is low-key with a casual elegance. We were celebrating a special event but we weren’t looking for anything that was pretentious. #433
