Tom Tina N, DDS

I have been going to this dentist for so many years. I have raised a family and everyone in my family goes to Dr Tom.
She is very friendly, compassionate and thorough. She calls me at home to follow up after a difficult procedure. She has referred my family to doctors. I can tell she cares a lot about her patients.

I was referred to Dr. Tom by one of my dental instructors after having a bad experience with a dentist in Kapolei. Dr. Tom is very personable and makes it her priority to make you as comfortable as possible. The office is very clean and has very up-​to-​date equipment. You can tell she’s not trying to ‘take’ your money, but actually interested in your oral health. I would definitely recommend Dr. Tom.

Dr. Tina explains everything so well you never leave with questions unanswered. The rest of the crew is awesome. I go back every six months, and most of my friends now go here.

Dr. Tina Tom is attentive and has a soothing ora. She’s quite personable and easy to talk to.
She does have a friendly staff and most of them are women. With my appointment, I usually wait no more than a couple of minutes to be seen.
She does accept insurance, but without insurance the prices can add up. My dental plan is not the greatest, but thank goodness I only needed minor work done.
My hygienist says it’s a groove in my teeth and Dr. Tom says it’s a small cavity. Since I’ve never had a cavity, it was quite devastating to learn that I’m not caring for my teeth as well.
The whole point is, I got 2 of my little grooves filled and without insurance it was a whopping $ 150+. My insurance covered the x-​rays and partial cleaning and that was another set of expenses. I didn’t feel pressured to do work on my teeth that I didn’t want to.
I never bothered to shop around, since she was professional, friendly and located at a convenient area near Don Quijote.
Both my cleaning and cavity filling experience were great. There were minor discomfort (comes with the territory), but I like how the staff never forgets to ask my comfort level while they’re working on me.
Parking is in the Pan Am building and the office will validate the entire duration of your visit.

I don’t know about you but I’d take a dental cleaning over a doctors visit any day.
I was ecstatic to find out that when I changed job, I was still covered by my new health plan that enabled me to stay with Dr. Tom (I went from HMAA to Kaiser)
Dr. Tom is located on the 8^th floor of the Pam Am building across from Daiei (Yes, I still call it Daiei) The one with the American Savings Bank on the bottom.
Parking is free in the structure as long you have validation.
They’ve always called me to reminder me about my appointment coming up, and have even taken down my availability and called me when a spot has opened up so I can go in on an earlier date.
My appointments have either always been on time.
The staff there is always friendly, and I enjoy the fact that they talk to me when they clean. Sometimes even informational random stuff not even pertaining to dentistry. Even though I can’t answer most of the time, I like the idea of just not sitting there trying not to make eye contact (cause they’re face is sooo close), or trying to look at the ceiling while aliva fills my mouth waiting for that white sucker stick thing. You know what I’m talking about.
I guess in the end, the dental hygienist are really what makes it so great seeing as I see Dr. Tom herself for a few minutes in the end. However, it’s her family (staff) and she does a great job of selecting the best people for the job.

Tina has strong communication skills & will spend the time it takes to explain things to you and listen to your concerns. She is gentle & professional, has a great staff, office is small — but clean & efficient. There is a heavy emphasis on gum health here, more so than most other DDS offices I’ve been to. I’ll post again after a «deep cleaning procedure» I have scheduled next month as I’m a bit weary about it. So far, I’m impressed.

I had a number of procedures done here and I felt very confident in the experience and skills in the staff. They always made me feel comfortable from the front office to the dental chair, and unlike many dentist’s offices I visited in the past, I did not have any negative experiences with her which is saying a lot because getting dental work done is one of my least favorite things to do.

Tina Tom has been a great dentist for my wife and I and we will surely keep for for as long as we live in the Islands. Her dental staff is friendly and attentive. They are professional and very detailed oriented when it comes to cleaning, dental work, or following-​up. Tina is absolutely wonderful. She’s professional, friendly, and knowledgable about modern dental and orthodontic issues. She comes highly recommended from friends of mine and I highly recommend her to you!
