Kudos to Pam H and Li Y for encouraging such an intimate gathering at one of the more spectacular spots atop Honolulu City. Good friends, good food, good fellowship, good panoramic view as the Top of Waikiki is a revolving restaurant, and FINALLY, Pam H got her scallops. For those who read the local threads; you will know that Pam H was on a quest for«GOOD» scallops within the city. And last night, she found it as it was her entrée at the Top of Waikiki. Validated Parking until 12 midnight. After you dine; you can walk around the center of Waikiki without the hassle of finding parking and when you do find it, be faced with steep parking fees. Ryan our waiter was the best around! Greeted us as we got there; made sure we were seated and that our food and service was superb. Happy Hour pricing! Sunset dinner menu! Did I say great view? Did I say great friends? It was a perfect way to end the year. Thank you Pam and Li for planning such a great event!(please watch for my separate review of the Top of Waikiki in it of itself! Stay tuned)

Top of Waikiki has the most amazing happy hour view. Add some good friends, a glass of wine and a 360 view = Perfect!(+ they validate till 12 midnight) Scallops has been on my mind for a number of weeks now and it’s been on the Unilocal talk thread. I’ve gotten some great tips on where the best scallops in town are. And I don’t think I did enough research about this place and scallops, but Li Y recommended this place and OMG the light bulb went on. Yes – , there are those moments of greatness when I see the potential of a great evening with great company. I arrived promptly at 5pm and perused the happy hour drink menu and wow for 5 bucks I can get a glass of cab. Not the taxi cab, but a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. And not 5 large deers, but 5 dollars. Being the fussy drinker that I am I ordered a pinot noir from Oregon. It was no where near $ 5.00 a glass, but I figured I’d give it a try. Then after tasting it I didn’t like it. But at least I knew right… hahaha Totally my fault since it was my choice. IMHO it’s a great spot to take clients, or good friends and enjoy a nice upscale place to see the sunset. Prices during happy hour are reasonable. View was amazing as the sun went down and the Honolulu city light are turned on. I ordered the scallops(5 pieces) with asparagus and mashed potato. Asparagus was cooked just as perfect as the scallops were. The mashed potato was a smooth texture and buttery… It was devine. Of course a wonderful dish starts off more conversations of scallops and all the while I’m getting excited knowing that somewhere down our calendars is another scallop event! Dessert was pretty darn good. A few of the ladies used the Unilocal app to check in and got a free dessert(gelato). We also ordered the Mango Crème brûlée that had small pieces of mango topping it and it was tasty. :-) What a great night with good friends on a revolving restaurant. I want to go back again and do happy hour with my better half. I think he should take me there on our next date night, even though we’ve been there before that’s okay. It’s the company that makes the night right. hahaha
