Dr. Matthews is most definitely the best doctor anyone could have! I went to him until i was 21 because of my asthma and now my 2 kids go to him. He treats us like family and i would definitely have to disagree with the kook comments below because he is nothing but genuine, kind, and very caring! He has been doing this for years to where my mom used to even go to him. I honestly don’t know what we will do when he decides to retire because there is no doctor that can replace him! Yes people can have their own opinions, but TBH he is the best! Keep doing what your doing uncle wally!

Dr. Matthews is an excellent Pediatrician! Very polite, cordial, friendly and understands his patients needs as well as very effective in regards to dealing with parents if they have concerns or question his diagnosis. I had seen Dr. Matthews till I was 19 (18 and 19 because I was a college student). The only reason I can theorize as to why the other reviewer gave only one star and had a problem with Dr. Matthews is because, he is a doctor so he knows what he is doing, I understand her concern for her child but she is probably not a doctor and most likely cannot know what Dr.‘s know. It comes down to the saying that you wouldn’t want your Dr. to do your job so why would you try to do his/​her job. Oh, and I agree with David, Dr. Matthews is not a «Kook»!

I am not sure what the previous reviewers mean by «kook».
Dr Matthews delivered my second son and cared for all 3 of my children. I only wish my step-​grandson would go to him. His Mom has Kaiser.
The previous review sounds very uncharacteristic of Dr Matthews. He does have a tendency to speak to adults the way he speaks to his patients. Perhaps it is better that she found a Dr more suitable to her style.
In any case, I would recommend him to anyone who asks for a referral.

I agree he is a kook, which I used to find a little charming until we had a conflict of interest with the disgnosis of my son’s illness. WM completely misdiagnosed my son and did not treat his situation as an individual, but prescribed him the same treatment that he seems to blanketly recommends to many of his patients (I know bc you can hear him assess and treat all of his patients due to the indiscrete set up of the office). Dismissed my concerns when I voiced them and was very condescending to me when I questioned him, even pulled out the «I’m the doctor» card. Got my son a second opinion and determined that Matthew’s recommended treatment was out of line and did not address the issue, as I had suspected… Because of the second opinion, my son was feeling better within hours. I advised him that he should not patronize his clients and cannot treat his patients with so little disregard. Clearly we left his services immediately.

This guy’s kind of a kook at first. He’s really loud and exuberant because he works with a lot of kids but he really is a good doctor. He remembers things about you and always asks about school, sports, and family.
