Iv been to glad at least half a dozen times and everytime the food and service has been excellent. My favorite dishes include momo glad-yaki, tsukune cheese, and the glad ramen. Both the wait staff and kitchen staff are very friendly and accommodating. My only gripe is that if you go late some of the more popular dishes might be sold out. Yakitori glad is most definitely gonna remain one of my main eateries. Oh. and the girl who works there named Kanako is super hott

I just tried this place for the first time and it’s now one of my favorite places I will always visit when I come here. The BBQ chicken was my favorite, very flavorful and tender not dry at all. I still have 5 more days of vacation left and I will definitely come here again. All servers are nice and greet you when you come in and when you leave. I actually seen the commercial for this place and had to try it and it was one of the top 5 places I ate at.

Not bad for everything at a set price of $ 3.90. They have a variety of yakitori and drinks. Our favorite was the cow tongue… Tasty.

This place is one of the best Japanese bbq place in Oahu. Great food and friendly staff. I highly recommend you guys make your reservations to come and check out this place for bbq and(Kirin only) cold beer. Everything in the menu is $ 3.90. I would have given this a 5 star but because parking is small with a bad layout(although free) its not made for big or long vehicles.

I had dinner here with some Yeeps around the holidays. It’s located on Kapahulu so parking is sparse. They have a few parking spots in the lot on the backside. It’s usually paid parking, but if you dine here, it’s free. Give the hostess the parking stall number and she’ll mark it on this sheet at the podium. We had reservations for a party of eight and were seated at the back. This place is always busy. When we left people were waiting outside for tables. This restaurant is small and can’t accommodate too many people. All the items on the menu cost $ 3.90. It sounds like a good deal right? It really isn’t because they give tiny portions. Most of the plates had two pieces of whatever you ordered on it. I noticed some unusual items on the menu. They offer chicken heart, liver, cartilage and gizzard. I passed on these items. It didn’t sound to appetizing to me. My husband and I ordered 10 plates of food. We ordered the Ika Karaage, Ahi Poke, Buta Bara(pork), two orders of Tsukune-cheese(ground chicken patty with cheese), Ebi Karaage, Momo-Tare-mayo(chicken thigh with barbecue sauce and mayo), Tebasaki-shio(chicken wing), Momo Ten Chili Sauce(deep fried chicken thigh with chili sauce), and Fried Potato. Everything that I tried was pretty good. The ahi poke was fresh and firm. My favorite of the night was the Ebi Karaage. It was battered and fried with the shell on. The shell was so soft that you could just eat the whole shrimp with the shell. I just took off the head and tail. My least favorite was the Tebasaki-shio(chicken wing). When they brought out the plate, there were two tiny chicken wings on that plate. It had no flavor or seasoning to it. It was just salty. I love chicken wings, but will skip on it from this place.

If you’ve tried sushi, teppanyaki and nabe Japanese food then you will love yakitori. This is basically grilled meats served in fun tapas sizes so you can have all kinds of different tastes together! Add some rice and a Kirin beer and it’s heaven!

It was Christmas Eve of 2015 that I had stepped foot into Yakitori Glad on Kapahulu Avenue for the first time. Just to get to the establishment was an adventure of its own. I live in the Waianae/Makaha area and my means of transportation is via Uncle Fasi limousine aka TheBus. I took two busses just to reach Honolulu and a taxi with J2(she left Nanakuli on a bus after me but got to town before me) just to get to Yakitori Glad by 6pm or else we would have gotten to the establishment around 6:30pm. Once we arrived at the meeting place for dinner the host had shown us where our group will be seating. Four other individuals were already seated and waiting. We received the menu to look over. I quickly ordered ginger ale to drink. Two other individuals showed up after us. Food wise I had ordered a small bowl of ahi poke, chicken wings(only had 2 on a small plate), 2 beef sticks, and 2 chicken sticks. Each menu item cost $ 3.90. Not bad of a price especially if one is on a budget. I wished I had ordered another item to eat that night. The establishment is kind of small to me. The front end of the restaurant has table seatings for maybe 20 individuals and the back end of the restaurant has seatings for another 30 people. Of course it all depends on how the tables are set up for the customers. Restroom is located in the back end of the restaurant. For individuals who drive… there’s only street parking. It’s a good thing one of the couples offered J2 and me a ride back to Ala Moana after dinner.

Aren’t I GLAD I finally got to try this place out? YES It’s on the side of Kapahulu, sorta almost across the street from Ono’s but not quite. Parking is located in the back(private lot and garage) DON’T PAY! All you have to do is park and tell the hostess your parking stall number and you’re good to go ^_^ It’s also(HIGHLY) recommended to make reservations. I’m so grateful I did because the party that came before us didn’t and the hostess told them that it may be an hour wait or so~ We were seated immediately at a counter spot(wish we could see over and watch the chefs cook our food but oh wells) Did I also mention that everything on the menu is $ 3.90??? Food, drinks, AND desserts. What an easy to keep tabs on your bill lol but watch out because it adds up REALLY quickly. My friend and I ended up eating almost $ 40 worth of food :3 We ordered: Momo Glad-yaki(Tare): YUM Kawa Tare: YUM Tsukune Okonomiyaki: Not bad Tsukune Cheese: Not bad Gyu-Kushi: YUM Bacon Mushroom: YUM Ahi Poke(Korean pepper sauce): YUM Pi-man Nikuzume: pretty good The Momo Glad-yaki(Tare) was delicious! It was one of the more«jumbo» sticks because of the popularity. It’s basically chicken thigh slathered with BBQ sauce and in between each piece of chicken, you get parts of the green onion and that was my favorite part. It tasted just like the green onion stalks in chow funn! The Kawa Tare is fried up chicken skin and is basically self explanatory, who doesn’t love some good chicken skin? The only downside was the BBQ sauce kinda brought the crispiness down so maybe the shio(salt) flavor is the better option to get The Tsukune Okonomiyaki really tasted like okonomiyaki because of the toppings but I wasn’t as impressed as I hoped to be but it is something to try for your first time The Tsukune Cheese is a ground chicken patty with melted cheese on top. A lot of people recommend to get this and it’s interesting to try but I just wish the chicken was more fried instead of like a ground patty. It wasn’t as exciting to eat The Gyu-Kushi was delicious! It was the only beef dish we got but I wish we ordered more. It’s beef with BBQ sauce and garlic and it just really reminds you of eating good yakiniku :3 Bacon and Mushroom? Delicious separately, Fantastic together! It was cooked perfectly but watch out when you bite into it because the mushroom juices just ooze out and just YUM The ahi poke was better than I expected. When you bite into it, you know it’s fresh. The korean pepper sauce reminded me of a shoyu taste with a Korean twist to it and I wouldn’t mind getting this again. The Pi-man Nikuzume is green peppers stuffed with chicken patty. It’s what you expect and was good but I was disappointed in the size. We thought each«slice» of bell pepper was going to be half the bell pepper or so but it was a really thin slice so I don’t think it’s really worth your money. Overall, it was a great experience and we had a great server! I wouldn’t mind coming back again. Just beware that you probably won’t get full without spending over $ 20 or you’ll probably just get hungry again in the next hour

Most excellent pupus on Kapahulu avenue. I’ve been to Yakitori Glad three times this year, including my first visit. I can honestly say that each of the three times we have been there the results have been top notch. The Unilocal pictures and descriptions were spot on and the service was numbah one, all three times. Now Yakitori Glad is usually a pretty busy place, when you first enter, people are rushing here and there to get orders in, to get orders out, to answer any questions about the offerings. And did I mention everything you order, food or drink is $ 3.90? Easy to remember. The quantity is adjusted to the $ 3.90 price. On this particular night, a Friday night, we decided to chance’m and we walked in without reservations.(Did I mention, they take reservations? If you are pressed for time, make da reservations) The polite and friendly gal checked her list and said about a 60 minute wait. We put our name in, and just as we were about to leave for a pre-grinds stroll she checked over the list again and said that there was a reservation for two that hadn’t showed up yet, and that if they didn’t call or come in within about 15 minutes their spot would be ours. We waited the few minutes and it player out in our favor and we got in earlier than anticipated– yay! How about dem grinds? Ono, a great place to come and get your grilled animal protein items. Chicken, beef, pork, exotics like gizzard and beef tongue and delicious complimentary items like fried rice balls and tori-kamameshi rice. The fried squid legs were tasty, not greasy– nice and soft. Ono pupus, fun place fo grinds, talk story and drink a cool one with friends and Ohana. Pretty popular place, now I know why.

Okay let me start off by saying that I’m not a big drinker. So the fact that the beers are unbelievably cheap doesn’t really appeal to me much. And I know that all the yakitori sticks would taste wonderful along side a tall glass of beer. But since I was simply here for dinner with my mom and brother, it was just«A-OK» to me. I had made a reservation in advance which helped out tons because there was a small group of people in the front waiting for tables to open up. The menu is full of chicken cooked in so many different ways that I was a bit amazed and how many ways they can use that little bird! As other’s have mentioned, everyone who works here are super happy and smiley all the time and it really does make the mood a little bit cheerier. Some even have fancy electronic devices that sends your order in straight from the table! Surprisingly tech-y for a small izakaya type place. I tried to order yakitoris with different flavors to try and liven things up since everything is all chicken. They did offer some salad and beef options but they were limited. Some of the more memorable options were the cheesy chicken patty, chicken stuffed mushroom, yuzu glazed yakitori and my favorite was the grilled musubi. The musubi is like eating the rice from the bottom of a bi bim bap bowl. It was grilled to perfection with a golden brown crunch. The only downside was that to achieve that golden brown perfection, it takes a lot of time and patience. So we ate most of our yakitoris before the musubi arrived. This place really wasn’t very memorable to me but I would probably return with friends as this is more of a social type restaurant rather than a family place to dine with my parents.

LOVETHISPLACE ! the food is absolutely delicious. Tried all of their popular items and their ramen which was amazing. The service was good, all the workers seemed to be very tentative to us during the whole time we were there. Only bummer was the gyutan was sold out ! Gotta go early to order because it’s a popular item. Love that they have 3 sizes of beers all for $ 3.90 I mean everything on the menu is $ 3.90(: The calpico sour drinks were really tasty as well.

I tried this place out last month and wasn’t too sure what to expect – but I loved it! They are located in Kapahulu, off the main road, kinda near Pizza Hut. Their outside parking lot is a little small, but there’s also an underground parking garage too. My friend called ahead and made a reservation for us, so we didn’t have to wait for a table. EVERYTHING on the menu is $ 3.90! I wasn’t sure how to pronounce any of the menu items, so we just pointed at the pictures lol. The items are served on skewers so you can just share with your party and try a little bit of everything. We ordered the chicken patty with cheese which was amazing! I’m not sure if we tried the Momo Glad-yaki or the Mune Glad-yaki, but whichever we ordered, it was delicious. I think one of the other items we got was Tori-Kamameshi; we also got the chicken thigh too. Even though I don’t remember exactly what we ordered, I can say that I enjoyed the food. One of the workers asked us if we parked in the lot and if so, what was our stall number.(Their parking lot is supposed to be free, you just have to let them know what stall you parked in.) However, even though we talked to them about it, when we got back to the car there was a ticket for $ 40(I think), even though we had only been there about an hour or so. My friend went inside to talk tell them about the ticket and they said that they would take care of it. Because I liked this place so much, I wanted to go again for my birthday. But I made the mistake of not calling well in advance to make a reservation. I tried calling consistently the night before but no one ever answered my call. I called the day-of right when they opened but they said that they were already booked up. The restaurant isn’t that big and this is a fairly popular spot so next time I’ll have to call way ahead of time.

Let me say this first the service is great as they are so attentive to you, I love yakitori sticks so yup Chicken Gizzards, Beef Tounge, Chicken Thigh sticks… I love em all well ok there is one that though I’ve tried many of times in Tokyo it still just isn’t very appealing to me personally and that is the Chicken Cartilage, but everything here is great and $ 3.90 a item makes it easy! It gets quite crowded so a reservation is probally best although I’ve just showed up and never really had to wait no longer than for them to find a table. Haha one thing though don’t go with friends that constantly are counting the sticks hehe cause that stick forest can get quite dense real fast but I’m always glad I get to come here anyway it’s a great place!

We don’t have many restaurants like these in Hawaii despite them being a dime a dozen in Japan. It’s been a while since I’ve eaten here, and it seems like most of the waitstaff has changed except for our waitress, Kanako. We probably put her through a lot with out awkward conversations and a few of our friends’ lack of motor skills(or game). She took it like a trooper though, behaving professionally and holding in her laughter, because you could just tell she wanted to burst out or say something. We didn’t have a reservation this time, but we actually managed to get in since it was a Thursday night. Everything here is the same price, including the alcohol(they have pretty good chu-his and yogurt sours). We got a whole bunch of different items, but when I come here I tend to stick to my usuals. Momo Yaki: I usually get shio and just dip the pieces in the shichimi and sansho. The chicken is almost always moist and cooked with just the right amount of char. I’ll occasionally get the tare, which is also good here. Tsukune: The tsukune is good here, especially with cheese on top of it. Tofu Bacon Salad: I really love this simple combination of baby spinach leaves, bacon, soft tofu, and sesame dressing. I don’t eat much salad at restaurants, but I order this each visit without fail. Kamameshi: Order this right when you get to your table because it takes about twenty minutes to prepare. The rice comes out to you in the tiny pot it was cooked in, and you get to scrape off the burnt, crisp rice out from the bottom with a wooden rice paddle. The flavor of the rice isn’t too strong, but it goes well with the other ingredients as well as the takuwan it’s served with.

Coming from Kurume city, Fukuoka, the yakitori capital of Japan(perhaps the world), I was really wanting to get what has become my weekly Yakitori fix. Needless to say, I was really GLAD to get a last minute 6pm reservation at this busy and popular Kapahulu eatery. Menu Orders are taken on iPods so any of the staff is able to take your order at anytime(No need to wait for your assigned server) and Everything on the menu is 3.95 which keeps things nice and simple. Food orders were brought out hot and fresh in a timely matter. With the exception of their«Jumbo» chicken sticks, in general, the portions were smaller than what I have become accustomed to in Japan. Totally opposite of the stereotypic large Hawaii portions. All the food was very tasty except for one order of our momoyaki(The tare sauce on the chicken was burnt black and tasted bitter). The cook apologized and took it off the bill. All in all, We enjoyed our time here and look forward to coming back.

Finally!!! We finally went here! It’s obviously been a long time coming and we did it! Is it everything that we thought it would be? Yes! So after reading all the fellow Unilocalers reviews, we visited this cute little happenin place. Everyone was right– all dishes for $ 3.90! And it was onolicious! Ok, so let’s start from the beginning. Everyone said to make reservations so I did. Whew it’s a good thing– this place is busy! Here is parking right in the back, by Pizza Hut. It holds about 15 spaces and you can park in one memorize your space so you can tell the host or waiter. The service was top notch! From the time we walked in to giving our order, they were all so welcoming, friendly and helpful! We ordered the chicken with cheese, musubi, bacon wrapped mushroom, karaage chicken, karaage shrimp, tofu salad, tofu with bonito, BBQ chicken, BBQ beef, and the list goes on! I have to say we indulged! The food comes out so fast and it’s so yummy! Of course the kids wanted dessert so we got the mochi ice cream. Yummy!!! Service: 5 stars Cleanliness: 5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars Food: 4.5 stars Such a nice small place that definitely exceeds expectations in service!!!

Unilocal 365 Challenge 2015 #57/365 This update is quite overdue. I’m adding a star to my review since my first visit because they deserve it. Yakitori Glad, YOUDAREALMVP. At first, I was skeptical. However, after every trip thereafter, I found my groove. I knew what I wanted to order, and I knew how many plates to order. Three plates, with two beers, I was set. All for around $ 20. You CANNOT beat that! The service here is over the top; although on our last visit, our server may have been new, and wasn’t always there for us, but we were actually checked on by three different workers, one who brought us our drinks, the hostess, and another who wasn’t even waiting on our section. This place probably has the best service out of any restaurant I’ve ever been to. Workers are super friendly and always attentive(with that one exception). If you’re going to order beer, don’t get the pitcher. Get a large! More bang for your buck! My favorite dishes: –Mune Glad-Yaki(Spice) –Bacon-wrapped Mushroom –Ground-chicken stuffed peppers –Chicken Nanban If you’re trying to come here, I would suggest to make a reservation. They don’t open until 5pm, so call at 5 if you’re trying to go the same day, the earlier you call, the higher chance you can get in. Parking is still free, but make sure you let the hostess know what stall you parked in when you check in. Bathrooms are pretty clean and well-maintained. One last piece of advice… GOTOYAKITORIGLAD
