On our way to AKaka falls we lucked into finding this sweet coffee shop. We ordered the egg and cheese pesto breakfast sandwich on a croissant. All I can say is ‘Ono’!! They make it fresh when you order and it’s perfect. I also ordered the white chocolate latte and my boyfriend had the coconut Italian soda with cream… Sooo good. Would definitely recommend.

We had a fabulous pesto egg and cheese sandwich on the BEST croissant I have ever had. The employee really helped us in a bind, so we could get to the zipline tour on time. One of my most memorable food choices on our trip! Wish we would have had time for coffee.

Cute quaint café. Hot chocolate and wraps were delicious. Very friendly sweet staff. My hot chocolate cup was being refilled endlessly, for whatever reason, I’m not complaining because it was so yummy :)

Cute little coffee shop located not to far from Eco adventures zip lining company. It’s about a 2 minute walk. We had some time to spare before our tour. We walked up to the front and my eyes grew big at the baking goods. I have a huge sweet tooth. I saw scones and cookies. I Immediately grabbed the blueberry scone. The sign stated they were made in house homemade. I just love that. My honey ordered an ice coffee with a shot of espresso. What I found innovative and ingenious was that their ice cubes was frozen coffee. That way the coffee won’t be diluted into a watery flavorless mess by regular ice cubes. It was pretty strong since there was no sugar in it. Once he started pouring it in I felt it crunch between my teeth lol. The scone was a little dry with a strong taste of lemon zest. The blueberries itself was plump and sweet. I think there was other berries in there as well. I wouldn’t mind trying their other offerings for lunch. They use organic ingredients:)

It worth a bike ride from Hilo or Kona, not to mention a drive. Very good coffee, excellent milkshakes, good salads and tasty sandwiches. Relaxing and quiet atmosphere. Best seating at the couch when cold or in the back when hot. I most like this place when it is raining outside. Milkshake 7 $ — totally worth it, coffee roast is mild(do not go here if you like Pete’s), they also have ice cream with espresso shot — excellent idea.

Good espresso is difficult to find on the big island and Shark’s is one of the few places where you get the real thing. Laid back atmosphere, super friendly barista. Kick back and enjoy your Java.

I had the most unfriendly experience in this coffee shop today. I ordered a frozen chai drink. It was $ 5+, relatively expensive. The barista put the drink on the counter, he put a lid on it. As I was trying to put a straw through the lid, the drink fell on to the counter, the lid popped open, more than half of it spilled. I said I am sorry. The guy cleaned the counter space. The guy said we owe $ 7.80+(we also bought a bottle of water), we paid him while I was looking at him. He was looking with full eye contact throughout. In the end, the guy did not offer to replace the chai drink! I left without saying a word. Good heavens, the guy saved about 15 cents from a scoop of chai tea powder, some ice, and electricity of the blender he used to mix them together, and his precious 20 seconds time. Great work ethics, way to go! Never had such an experience in my 43 year life in many countries I visited(including the famously arrogant French waiters and baristas). As long as tourists and hippie types spoil this guy, he will continue to act like this no doubt about it. The store benefits from the proximity to the beautiful Akaka Falls. Although ambience was nice, there was nothing special with the drinks, especially after seeing the chai powder coming out of the good olé powder bucket. Way to go!!!

We loved Sharks and frequented the larger venue two or three times a day every day. Even if you’re normally an espresso drinker(like me), I suggest you go for the iced drip coffee with cream. It’s really amazing with chocolate overtones and that lack of bitter bite which only the best Hawaiian coffee has… and made with coffee ice cubes. The espresso is also good, but the drip is killer. Staff was friendly and snarky at the same time. Not a huge selection of food, but they do samages here at the larger location.

Convenient location and decent drinks but nothing I would recommend highly. The proximity to Akaka falls is the main benefit from my view. The staff were friendly but not overly bright and had trouble helping our three year old who only wanted chocolate milk or something similar. Had to explain maybe 2 – 3 times that’s all he wanted and the Barista who finally understood still asked us «OK basically the same as a hot chocolate then but just cold?» Makes me laugh now thinking about it. Wow, why couldn’t they just put chocolate milk in a cup? I had the tiger shark, which was good, but $ 7 and it was just a small cup? It should have been no more than $ 3 – 4. This is just grocery store vanilla ice cream with a sprinkle of coffee in it and the same torani syrups that every cheap coffee stand on the planet is expected to be using now. I drank it but certainly wouldn’t drive there just to get one. My wife had an iced mocha with macadamia nut in it. Way too much syrup so it tasted horrible. Two sips each hoping to like it and we gave up and dumped it on the beach. The goes another $ 5 down the sand.

Such a nice space! I really like the tables in the front and comfortable looking couch & arm chairs in the back next to a little piano. Great selection of coffees and assorted beverages. Stopped in for a coffee after our Skyline Eco Adventures zip line tour. :)

We loved this restaurant! Location: Conveniently located near Akaka Falls. Décor: Super cute. Our«Local» friend, Dean, wanted to sit on the couch versus the traditional tables. Free: Homemade chocolate samples. Super Delicious and soft and wonderful. Food: Great! I loved the Chicken Cranberry Walnut wrap. My husband had a BLT. I forgot what Dean had. Drinks: Shark Bite: Fudge, coffee, blended ice goodness. My husband is still talking about it. I had the Peppermint Mocha blended drink. Very Tasty. Prices: Super Affordable. I think our sandwiches were between $ 5 and $ 7 and our drinks ranged from $ 3.95 to $ 4.50. Service: One young woman. Kind and personable. Bathroom: Just outdoors. Convenient. Recommended to us by a local merchant. She owns the nearby Sarong Store. It has a color in it’s name. Blue or Purple??? Anyways, she pointed us to this restaurant and we couldn’t have been happier.

Gorgeous find in the middle of rural Honomu with nothing like it for miles around! They serve chocolate drinks the best coffee in town that Sharkey both grows himself(says the signs), with tasty build-your-own smoothie options, yummy locally made pastries, and savory sandwiches and wraps as well. All this in a nice setting with couches, tables and a bar to sit at, as well as a verdant outdoor lanai to enjoy the local wildlife. Can’t think of many ways to improve it. Maybe just longer hours on weekends and if they could make the chocolate right there in front of you.
