Black and White cats!!! Ok and amazing wines! Went yesterday it was a gorgeous day and pretty packed. But the two people working handled it beautifully. Enjoyed a flight of wine and a $ 15 medium sized salami, cheese and bread plate just perfect!!! But seriously those cats

My husband and I stopped by today, Sunday. We were greeted immediately upon entering the winery. We opted to split a $ 10 tasting of 6 wines which was plenty to share. We started our tasting inside, but upon recommendation from the staff we found a spot outside to complete our tasting. Our spot was a shaded table with water misters nearby in the vineyard. We were pleased! We thought all of the wines were good, complex. We split the gourmet meat and cheese platter during our tasting and as we shared a bottle of wine. Very friendly staff. Tons of outdoor seating. Complimentary water and water bottles, bread sticks and bread and olive oil. Views of the vineyard. We would definitely recommend a stop at this winery.

We love this winery! We stop every time we go to hood river. The wines are great and the staff is always friendly! The only reason I didn’t give the winery five stars is that I wish the outside seating looked over the vinyard and wrapped around the backside of the tasting room rather than the parking lot. Last time we were there it was a beautiful day and the only table was right on the parking lot. Other than this it’s a wonderful place to spend a few hours enjoying wine.

LOVE this place! Best winery in Hood River, by far. Great wines. Great service. Very friendly staff, like they actually like their job. Beautiful location. Very pet friendly. The tastings: they give you quite a selection, and a nice size taste. Yummy little meat n cheese platter available. I didnt want to write this because selfishly, i dont want everyone to know about this place, but clearly the word has spread as it does get busier and busier.

Sometimes I have a tough time rating my visits to wineries. First off, almost any day spent in the wine country is pretty hard to beat. There are so many factors to rate within the winery too. How were the grounds and tasting room? The staff and their knowledge? Did they offer food? And of course the wine itself. Well, I’ve been to Marchesi a couple of times, and it hits all the marks. The area around Hood River is one of Oregon’s largest fruit growing regions, so as you would expect there are orchards of various types as well as wineries everywhere. All of this with the Columbia River Gorge to the north and Mt. Hood to the south, it’s stunning. Marchesi is one of my favorite wineries for several reasons. I’m probably going to get pummeled for this, but Pinot Noir is just sort of meh to me. If I’m going to drink red, give me a big bold heavy bodied wine. These Italian reds are what I want in my glass! I enjoyed the whites and sparkling too, but ultimately we walked out with half a case of red. Most of the wines are priced around $ 30 which is pretty reasonable. The tasting room is so relaxing. I could probably do nothing else for a couple of days except luxuriate in their comfortable chairs and couches. No backless stools for these folks! There is outdoor as well as indoor seating, so take your pick. You let them know what you would like at the counter, then they come out to where you’re sitting to refill your glass. How nice is that? They had focaccia with olive oil at the counter which we went after like hungry hungry hippos, so we put in an order for their $ 10 meat and cheese platter. They slice the meat to order, so you are not getting some rando packaged stuff. With each taste we were given information about the wine. Even if you don’t order a platter there are complimentary breadsticks at each table. They are addictive. If I didn’t already have more wine clubs than I need I would join theirs. One of the perks are the special dinners. Apparently the owners brother who is a chef flies over from Italy, swoon… The menu I saw looked great, but since I didn’t join none for me this time. You also get free tastings, the meat and cheese platters, 20% off wine purchases, and a free guided tour of their winery in Italy. I think I almost have myself talked into it :) If more wineries would have comfortable seating areas for guests to relax and enjoy their wines they might find an increase in sales. I know spending an extra hour or so tasting from a cushy seat helped in our case.

This is a great place to enjoy some fine Italian varietal wines and the inviting environment was definitely a bonus. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The sitting area was comfortable and relaxing. This is a worth while visit for sure!

Best wine in Hood River. I love the setting, sitting out in the vineyard drinking a glass. I dropped my rating from a 5 star because the staff can be a little rude or pretentious at times. Yes you have the best wine in the valley, but you could be a bit more welcoming. I’ve shown up 15 minutes before close and been refused a glass of wine. I didnt go for tasting, just a single glass. I understand not starting a tasting series, but for a glass, I think they should serve until they close. Us locals love to come by for an after work sip. Still, I keep coming back because the vino is delish.

Came here with a group of girlfriends on a Hood River weekend — LOVE this place! The staff is friendly and the indoor/outdoor seating area is awesome. So cute and tasty wines(though nothing I loved enough to take home). I will note that you only get free charcuterie if you’re a club member(read that on a Unilocal review which was misleading) BUT it’s affordable and delicious if you decide to purchase one! Our server was so friendly and gave us plenty of her Hood River recommendations. Definitely highly recommend stopping here while you’re in HR!

Great Italian wine and super friendly host! It was a warm Friday afternoon and local friends recommended Marchesi Vineyards. The outdoor seating right next to the vines was very welcoming. Also there was sufficient coverage from the sun on super hot days. The tasting was $ 8 and includes a Roseto, Primitivo, Sangiovese, Barbera, and Esta which was their Primitivo/Barbera blend. Great tast and smooth finish to all their wines and the price points were decent. After our tasting, we decided to order a bottle of the Barbera for the table. One of the people on our party was also a club member so 2 of the tastings were free and they served complimentary slices bread, cheese, and Salumi if you are a wine club member. Great visit and would highly recommend it!

After a nice hike at nearby falls we decided to cool off with some Oregon wines. I was pleasantly surprised with the gorgeous picturesque views of both fields of grapes and mountains from the winery. There is both patio seating and indoor seating. Considering it was about 95 degrees outside and we just finished a hike we decided to do our tasting indoors. The tasting room is cozy and the patio has misters. I enjoyed all the wines on our flight and talking wine with the staff. Their wines are done in Italian style. We also met the winery pets, two sweet sleepy cats. We enjoyed the serene view so much we opted for a glass of wine(I had the rose) to enjoy on the patio before we left. Tip: the patio is dog friendly.

Great atmosphere, a must do when in Hood River. They have a great outdoor patio with misters on a hot day and a nice tasting room with small tables to relax. The wine is excellent I just opted for a glass of the Rosato on such a hot day. The only down side is if there are a lot of people inside doing a tasting the room is so loud you cannot hear yourself talk. Also, it’s pretty hot inside, just a small AC unit to cool the room. You can also order a small plate of cheese, bread, and salumi which they cut fresh and being to your table.

This winery was a good stop — not nearly as scenic as Phelps Creek or Mount Hood Winery, but cool with the garden seating looking at out at the vines. Nice staff, decent wine, nothing amazing. We were 2 couples and we always each buy 2 – 4 bottles per stop, to build the wine collection and remember the weekend. If we love the wine, we may become wine club members or split a case. This is the only winery I have ever seen anywhere,(CA, WAOR) that does not waive your tasting fee if you buy wine. Set a limit like«With 2 bottles, fee waived» or «$ 50 minimum, fee waived» — SOMEthing. It incentivizes me every time. So $ 8 tasting fee pp, no matter what you buy. Ok, buh bye, no wine bought(probably 6 bottles we were good for), and we skipped on down the road and ended up buying 1.5 cases between us at Phelps Creek. Won’t go back to Marchesi. There is too much awesomeness in Hood River area — they’re not special enough.

what a great day of wine tasting in hood river! the«fruit loop» as it’s deemed has many amazing winery’s and stops to cherish all with the breathtaking valley view of mount hood to the south. this place in particular has a 1st generation italian raising and making wine the way he learned in italy. they are heavy and deep wines rich with the taste of culture and the local influences of oregon rain and sun. this place is much more laid back than some on the loop. you can sit and enjoy the tasting lineup in your own cozy outdoor furniture while they check up on your to refill once in a while. cheese and meat platters available and even their own bottled italian olive oil from the mother land. go enjoy a day of roaming the countryside and take in what local wine has to offer!

The only thing I would ask for is that the owner put a smile on his face from time to time. Choosing to work with people in the service industry is a choice, not a punishment. Smile… Look around at your view and your packed house. You’ve made it! Every time I see him, he looks like he is about to kill someone.

Absolutely love this place. Such an amazing outdoor/indoor tasting room on the edge of the vineyard. All the staff are amazing and we love how Franco and Sandy are always working away showing their love for the people and their wine. And, the wine. Absolutely love it. Marchesi is our primary destination in Hood River, although there are indeed many great places to visit. Join their club and attend a dinner. Simply wonderful. Just be sure to leave room for us!

If you want to go wine tasting, this is the place to go; especially in the evening. They have tables and lots of seating(most tables will hold parties up to about 5 – 8 I believe. They also have blankets available if it’s a chilly night. We loved this place because, unlike«traditional» tastings where you feel rushed and then feel imposing if you don’t buy a bottle, this place has you sit at what feels like several little living room areas and they bring the tastings to you! They have very tasty appetizers you can also order, as well as a few snacks at the table already. The lady serving us was very friendly to boot. We would love to return!

Very cool vibe for tasting wine, and I agree that it is a lovely tasting ROOM, but unfortunately I didn’t care for any of the wines that we tasted. I think that this is a great place to hang out with a group, bring some snacks, have a party etc. but not necessarily a good place if you are looking for great wine. Also, there were a million fruit flies!

I came to Marchesi Winery on the recommendation of a friend, and it didn’t disappoint! It’s not often I’m in the Hood River area, in fact it’s been many years since my last visit, but when I found myself with a beautiful sunny Sunday with time to kill, I headed over to Marchesi. The wines are all Italian varietals, some of the grapes are estate grown and others they source from the Columbia River /Columbia Valley area. There are 6 wines on the tasting menu for $ 6 — much better deal than Napa! None of them were oh-my-god spectacular but they were all pretty good — there wasn’t a one I didn’t like. The price per bottle ranges from $ 20-$ 40. I didn’t end up buying anything but the option is there, which is always nice :) The patio area was beautiful — trellis overhead and comfy outdoor couches/chairs for seating. There was a very tired cat napping in the sun too. The lady who worked in the tasting room came out to the patio to serve us each new taste, so we didn’t have to cart our wine glasses back and forth from inside for each round. All in all, not my all-time favorite winery but if you’re in the Hood River area, worth paying a visit!

If you’re ever in the area, Marchesi is worth checking out. We did tastings at 4 wineries and so far, this was my favorite. We got a table, directly on the vineyard. A very relaxing peaceful environment. I liked how someone would walk through and pour wine for us, rather than having to walk back inside for each tasting. Being a cat lover, bonus points for having 2 cats roaming the vineyards. The service, was excellent! Accommodating, informative and friendly. I felt as if I were being hosted in someone’s backyard vineyard. We left with some Achille, barbera wine. Great place to sit and relax with some great company and vino!
