Great park! Lots of space, fishing, playgrounds, volleyball and more. Great event place and lots of parking around.

This park is one of the best parks in town I have found. It is huge and has everything! Just one lap around and I feel like I have gotten a good walk in… Kids area. I personally do not have kids but have noticed the parents keep a good eye on their children and there is soooooo much play gym stuff slides, monkey bars, etc. I wish they had something like this when I was Young! Haha. The have a covered picnic area which is noticeably well maintained. I haven’t looked to see if they have a grill or not so I am not sure but I can’t wait to bring some food for an outdoor picnic! Btw, it is HUGE so it’s a nice place to bring several friends or family members. I even noticed there was a fairly large church group The pond is gorgeous with healthy looking ducks and geese… p. s. did you know bread can be harmful for them over time? There are several places online that have suggestions for better and still inexpensive alternative to our friends in nature:) annnnnd they have a dock They even have a few volleyball nets! Fur baby parents… out of all the parks I have visited so far the dog owners are much more responsible here. Of course there are occasionally times that I notice pet waste that hasn’t been picked up but definitely less than other places. There is a huge open area oof grass for them to run but no fence. My suggestion is that you know your dog so to make the best judgement call on if they should stay on a leash or not. No shame if they need a Leash mine are a bit socially awkward sometimes. They are getting better but, keeping them on a leash is much better than them being attacked by another dog or snapping at a child. Would love to give this place another star but it could use a couple more pet waste stations for that. I only saw 2 for such big track. Unless I missed a couple I am not used to carrying pet waste for as long as I did. Also, most parks state the rules for animals(leash rules, breed limits, etc) I haven’t noticed any. I will keep this as my top choice of parks for a while:)

Veteran’s Park in the crown jewel of the Hoover area for families. They have three large playground areas, two lakes that you can fish in on the bank, two beach volleyball areas, a great running area, and several covered pavilions for Birthday parties and the like. In other word if it is nice outside and you have kids you could easily spend the whole day there. Picnics are highly recommended

Hikes, bikes, trikes… Veteran’s Park is fit for them all! Whether you want to go on a nice 5k run around the lake, have a lazy picnic in the grass, take your kids to the playground, or throw a little frisbee, this gem fits the bill. While it isn’t the most isolated of parks(which, to me, is ideal), for Hoover residents this place is fantastic. Located between Spain Park High School and Jeff State, the well manicured grounds, clean pavillions, public restrooms, playground and more play host to events, charity runs, and thousands of folks looking to get active outdoors. Going during the mid-morning on weekdays provides the most solitude, anytime when it is sunny on the weekends it’ll be packed. Plan accordingly!
