The reason I give Gourmet 88 two stars is that the fried rice and the noodle dishes(chow mein and chow fun) are good. BUT from there everything goes down hill. I’ve ordered a few dishes to try the different types of meats and sauces and they’ve all failed. The pork in one dish was literally 50% fat. The chicken tasted old, not fresh at all. Beef has been fatty, not cut well or tenderized. There are certain techniques that must be done for Chinese food to come out good. This place does not do them. Another complaint is I’m not sure what is going on but the restaurant stinks. As in it smells bad. I don’t know if it’s a plumbing issue or what. I’ve gone there on Friday nights when you’d think most restaurants would be packed and nope this place is empty. I don’t know if owners ever read these. It’s an easy fix. Clean the smell. Get better cuts of meat and marinate it properly. This city does not know good Chinese. You’d be a hit.
