great place to eat. The setting is inside an older home, so the layout is a bit odd, but the food is great. If you want the deep dish pizza it is probably best to call and order ahead, it takes about 45 mins. The hot dogs are great. The gyros are great. The Italian Beef Sandwich is great. I have never had a bad meal at Wiseguys.

Sat down on a Sunday afternoon for 15 minutes and nobody acknowledged we were there, so we left. Can’t tell you about the food but the service sucks.

After seeing all the delicious looking pizza in all the photos I had to try this place. All I can say is it should be as good as it looks, but it isn’t. I ordered the Junk Yard style, the andoullie sausage was amazing but not enough to justify ordering it again. The crust doesn’t have substance and they try to make up for that with a ton of butter. The whole beauty of Chicago style is the crust and they just don’t have it right. The Pepper Jack Bites were amazing, and all the appetizers that went to other tables looked and smelled great. I noticed after getting our pizza that all the other tables were ordering only appetizers and sandwiches so maybe that’s the ticket. Lastly, I ordered a daiquiri which came in a small plastic cup, tasted like an icee, and probably had enough alcohol to qualify as virgin.

They serve the best Italian beefs you will ever put in your mouth. Small friendly atmosphere & down to earth servers. There is nothing here I would want to change.

Such a cute place! Super clean and the service was outstanding. We had deep dish pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. It was delicious and super filling. In fact, my husband and I could only eat one slide each! That was a week ago and there is still a slice in the fridge. I would stick with getting the small pie(which is what we did) for sure!

This really was one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten in my life. It was also one of the most expensive. A small Thin crust pepperoni with vegetables, a tea and only a 2.50 tip was 20 bucks. Not what I wanted to spend for lunch. Was it worth the price? Yes it was, considering the quality. this is a luxury pizza at luxury prices. This is not a value pizza. You could get 3 or 4 pizzas for 20 bucks if you need to feed a few people on a budget. The value is not there for me. For this reason, it will be a rare treat. The reason I came here was that I bookmarked it on Unilocal as one of my new places to try while in the area. I love pizza. I did read the reviews while waiting for my food and learned a little from the reviews about what a true Chicago pizza really is. Well I’ve never been to Chicago and I’m not really qualified in pizza cuisine to offer an educated opinion. So I won’t judge on how authentic it is. The house restaurant actually felt quite cozy. It was almost like eating at home. When I walked up, I wasn’t quite sure whether to knock on the door or walk right in. I was able to request a living room table. Didn’t want to eat in the bedroom, so that was nice. I decided to order a thin for lunch, mainly because of the wait time, but also because the deep dish tends to be oily at other places, so I’ve learned to avoid deep dish. For what it’s worth, Here is my opinion of the thin pizza. Cheese: some of the best tasting mozzarella ever. Not too salty either. Waitress said it’s whole milk cheese. I’m sure it’s expensive cheese too, which helps justify the price. Also, plenty of it. I never thought I would say this, but as much as I like cheese, and especially cheese this good, it was just too much cheese. Like a big blob in my mouth, chewing, and chewing until I couldn’t chew it anymore. Do not ask for extra cheese!!! The sauce: I disassembled my pizza so that I could savor the flavor of one ingredient at a time. I had trouble tasting the sauce with the amount of cheese present. However, once the cheese was removed, the sauce on the dough was just right. It had a really nice tomato flavor, and it did not taste sweet. The balance was just way off. I’d have much preferred twice the sauce and half the cheese. Dough: incredible, but not much different from other dough in town. Not chewy, not crunchy, but just right. I’m certain this is hand made and then run through a roller. Also I found the bottom to be clean from the ash and burned up crap from the oven. Vegetables: it is obvious that the mushrooms are fresh sliced, and did not come from the can. This is very rare and a very important quality I look for. The black olives had a nice sort of crunch not consistent with being pickled in a jar. The Bell peppers and onions without a doubt were fresh. The pepperoni was not memorable. I much prefer them above the cheese so that they cook, but mine were protected safely under their blanket of cheese so that the oven could not harm them. The portion size was spot on. Eight slices and I ate five. I could have eaten seven but I wouldn’t have been able to work the rest of the day. Besides I wanted my wife to eat the leftovers. The shakers on my table had not been washed since the 1940s when that house was built. Give or take a couple years. Its pointless to even wash my hands before my meal if my dining requires me to expose myself to harmful substances. I would give this pizza 5 stars for 3 dollars less, half the cheese, twice the sauce, pepperoni on top, and clean bottles on my table.

This place is amazing. If you love cheese you’ll love this pizza! I’ve never been to Chicago but I bet this is as close as you can get. If you’re lactose intolerant I wouldn’t go, you’d just end up crying over not being able to indulge

This is hands down one of my favorite local establishment! In a town that seems obsessed with thin crust pizza and seems to be lacking in quality Italian food, Wiseguys is where its at. The Chicago style deep dish is simply awesome. This Chicago style deep dish is completely loaded with delicious toppings and makes it one of my favorite meals l. Al the meatball sandwiches are a surprise slam dunk. Meatballs are huge, has the right formula of spices, and the marinara is fantastic. You will have to eat it with a fork, it is that messy, and that delicious. If you have not had the opportunity to try this restaurant, make time in your schedule. You will thank yourself later.

Decided to try this place when I was looking for a place that serves Chicago pizza! It was very good pizza. Not quite Chicago style thin crust– didn’t have time to wait for deep dish. Much better than most places around. Also has great Chicago décor!

Okay, the bad news is this is not real Chicago-style deep dish pizza. The name and reputation is misleading. The good news is that the pizza is good, doughy but good, and the restaurant is satisfactory. Go for a night out with the family but don’t expect genuine deep dish pizza like you’d find at Giordano’s or Lou Malnati’s in Chicago or their other locations around the country. This is just pan pizza with a thick crust. Can we get some genuine deep dish pizza in Memphis?

Pretty standard food, nothing too exciting here. I had a thin sausage pizza and the dough was kind of bland and flavorless, the sauce was overpowering. My wife had a chili dog, and I the whole thing looked straight out of a Sysco freezer bag. She said it was pretty meh as well. Perhaps if we’d ordered a deep dish pizza, the story would be different. The menu does mention the 45 minute wait for deep dish pizza and we didn’t have that kind of time, hence the thin crust. It was only a 25 minute wait for thin crust which was pretty spot on. Pricing was fairly reasonable. Wife and I ate for right about $ 20 for the two of us before tip. Wait staff was on the ball, and this was lunch time on a Saturday. The atmosphere is interesting, it’s inside an old house, so it seems a bit claustrophobic, and the main dining room has kids coloring book pages all over the ceiling. I think that kids color then there and they tape them up. Overall, this was a forgettable restaurant that and I can’t say I’d recommend it, unless you don’t have a better option available to you, Such as Three Guys Pizza on Church Rd.

One of the best pizza pies in the area. There is no need to ask for extra cheese, longer cooking time, or more toppings. This place does it right the first time, every time for me. This is a cheesy, thick, topping loaded pizza cooked to bubbling perfection. If you are in the mood for a deep deep dish pizza and you are in the area; don’t be deceived by the fact that this is a house converted into a restaurant. Wise guys is for real. This is not a dream. Yes it can take almost an hour for the pizza to cook, but you will not question it when you see it. Everything is quality right down to the nifty pizza box that converts into 4 plates, and a left over container. The Chicago style hot dog is on point including bright green relish with its unique sweet flavor, and poppy seed coated hotdog bun. The prices are a bit steep, but the quantity, and quality of the food is well worth it. The inside of the restaurant is unique, and the staff is very polite always making sure you are enjoying your visit. Parking can be problematic but this is still definitely a place I don’t mind sitting down with a beer and watching a game at while waiting for my pie. If you are in need of a grab and go, just call ahead for your order. Thank you Wise Guys for doing it right.

Sauce on top, no sauce on top — who cares! I don’t get you Chicago style pizza lovers, your crusts are wrong! Ok, so to be fair I am not a fan of Chicago style pizza but seeing pictures of the cheesyness I was willing to give it a try. Since the pizza takes 45 minutes we got some mozerella stick appetizers and they were super yum, I would get them again for sure. When the pizza arrived it was hot, fresh and loaded with toppings. We got a large so we’d have leftovers since this place is out of the way for us and the bf likes this kind of pizza. I finished a full piece and quit while the bf had two. When I picked up out to go box I was surprised how heavy it was, turns out each pizza is 5.5lbs — that’s 11oz per piece folks! The cheese was good, I have no doubt the toppings are quality and the sauce was not bad but the crust flavor was a no go for me, reminded me of a frozen pizza. The ambience is super chill and they have tv and coloring books for the kids to keep you entertained during the wait. A family of four could easily eat off one large so considering that it’s also a good value. I do think this place is legit so if you like Chicago style you should be pleased as punch here.

This is coming from Chicago native, I liked Wise Guys pizza, but it for sure the pizza is not made with the sauces on top(ie, Connie’s, Giordano’s, Lou Malnati’s). If you are not familiar with this process, the pizza will not arrive with cheese on top, but you will see Italian tomato sauces/meat instead. The cheese is normally above the crust. For me, I would have given it 5 stars if it were prepared in this manner. Everyone has their own taste so this my not matter to you. Sauce on top is what I am use to seeing/eating for years. The wait time(45 – 50 min) is authentic(lol) because it takes time for an actual deep dish to bake, so bring your Facebook app/crossword puzzles! I must say, THEHOTDOGSARESPOTON(Kosher beef, onions, tomatoes, peppers, dark green relish/dill pickle). Wise guys is the closets thing to Chicago style pizza as it gets in the mid south. I don’t mind that the location is a refurbished house. The owner came out after we received our pizza and asked if we enjoyed it, nice guy! I will say I will be coming back again for my pizza fix, regardless if it is prepared a little differently. Please try for yourself…

We went here on Saturday and ordered a large deep dish pizza — with just cheese on it. It was absolutely delicious. While I understand there is a difference between«stuffed» pizza and«deep dish», this was pretty darn good, and ranks up there with some of the deep dish pizza I have had in Chicago. I cannot wait to go back and try the Italian Beef Sandwich… and some more deep dish!

OK, so «Chicago Girl» Erica B does not know what she is talking about. I lived in Chicago for over a decade and am married to a born and raised Chicago native. Sauce on top is for Chicago STUFFED pizza from Gino’s East, Gioradanos, Malnatis, etc. Wiseguys does PAN and THIN which is authentic to what you will get in Chicago. They do not do STUFFED. I was in Chicago 2 weeks ago and had Giordano’s thin. Here at Wiseguys today and this is the same stuff. This is the real deal. Best you will find in this area.

Our favorite pizza so far since moving to the Memphis area! I don’t care what some of the people say about this not being«real» Chicago pizza cause they don’t put the sauce on top. Who seriously cares? Isn’t it really about the taste? And the taste is great… the buttery, doughy, yet slightly crispy crust, the great sauce and cheese… it all comes together for truly outstanding pizza. We always get a small thin crust, and a small deep dish… more than enough food to feed 3 – 4 people, and both styles are great! Chili Cheese Fries are great too, as well as the fried mushrooms. I haven’t tried any other menu items yet(I’m too in love with the pizza), but my coworker tells me the Sausages, and Gyros are great as well, and the ingredients are authentic Chicago. I’ve been to Chicago numerous times, and this place rivals the stuff up north. Give it a try, and have a good meal. You can thank me at your convenience.
