I have mixed feelings about Club 57. I was a little surprised that when we called that they recommended we have a reservation– when we arrived the place was empty. We ordered the spinach/artichoke app and onion petals to start. Both were just so so– neither were hot, and the latter were frozen. Our party of 5 all ordered burgers and the homemade chips. The burgers were just ok, again, not hot, but they tasted pretty good. The oversized bun would have been better if it were toasted and/or seasoned up a bit. the patty itself is a good size, but the bun is what makes the sandwich SEEM to be huge. Warning– order at least one degree of doneness less than what you want– my medium was well done, and my mother’s medium well was dried out. Mom had a side of spaghetti with her burger. watery, blah, and again not hot. The homemade chips were a bit of a disappointment, too. Believe me they have the potential to be good. I guess when I see homemade chips on the menu, I expect them to be fresh, and hot would be even better, but they were crispy, and I am sure fabulous when they just came out of the oil. But that mac and cheese– that gets 5 stars itself… It’s the only reason I am giving the whole review a 3 star instead of two… Creamy, very cheesy, crunchy topping, and the only thing I had that was hot besides the coffee… and I wish I had ordered just that. Prices aren’t bad. About $ 80 for the five of us with two shared apps, plus tip. We will give them another shot sometime… but I will be getting mac and cheese for sure.

We ate here 3 nights in a row. Sat at the bar. Bartender was very nice and personable. The food was excellent. Did not have s burger. But people sitting near us had one. They looked killer! All 3 nights we ate off the special menu. And as never disappointed. In fact we kept coming back. Stuffed mushroom caps, artichoke cream soup, scallops, my strips, ribs. All were really good. If your in Hornell, or nearby! Have dinner here. You will not be disappointed !

Should really be 3 ½ stars. The menu has improved over the last year or so. The service is always friendly and I can usually find a beer I like on tap. Also, one of the few places you can still order from after 9pm.

I’m not sure why all these reviews say good service. From what I have experienced, the service was awful! We sat down at a table for a meal and the servers ignored us for a solid 20 minutes. I could understand if they were swamped, but it was relatively quiet. When we flagged someone down they were very snotty. I spoke to the bartender as well who was equally unaccommodating. We asked if we could get coffee and the waiters said yes without ever offering to take our order. We sat at the table for another 20 minutes without anyone bringing coffee or taking our order. We decided to just walk out. Not worth the visit and I will never go back again!

Complete surprise. First time in New York and in a little town near Alfred university. Club 57 was recommended and did not disappoint. Before I get to the food I need to mention that servers can make or break a dining experience. Our server went above and beyond to make a great culinary evening started with 21 chips salad with homemade dressings buffalo chicken soup and fresh warm bread served with butter olive oil pepper and Parmesan cheese. And that is a starter!

I will only eat at two restaurants in Hornell, and Club 57 is one of them. I’ve been there dozens of times and I’ve been impressed 98% of the time. The food is soo good! And the staff is nice too. Try anything. You’ll like it!

If you like playing the lottery, you will love this place! Why? Because it is a gamble on the consistency of the food… To start off with, this is an average restaurant serving American and some Italian dishes. They also aspire to be recognized as a pizza mecca. A nice mix of booth and tables – unfortunately the management feels a need to populate each one with lotto cards and other materials. A full bar, and an OK mix of bottled and tap beers. All tables come with bread and olive service. And it is good! The House dressing is also something to try – a very nice and flavorful balsamic. A solid appetizer menu – get the ‘blooming onion.” Many times we have made a meal out of just ordering several appetizers. The fare includes typical red sauce Italian, various pizza mashups with a local twist, a full sandwich/burger board – and steaks, seafood, fish, and chops. We shy away from the pizza, as it is a frozen crust. The burgers are generally good and flame grilled. Steaks are just so-so, I would not go there deliberately looking for a steak. The fish on Friday is wonderful, with a choice of batters or broiled. They also have a seafood combo platter – but you are out of luck if you want it fried. It only comes broiled. Bummer… The trouble is that one night the food here is simply great. And on another the kitchen staff must have had a really bad day because the quality and prep are way off. I should mention that they also have Yankee barbeque in season. It’s good, but Northern folks just don’t really understand how to do ribs… After 8:30P on the weekends there is live music, and dancing. 57 has a very large dining area to one side that is excellent for large group lunches, and parties or receptions.

I’ve gone twice to Club 57. The first time I went with my mother and we both we very unhappy with our over cooked and tasteless meals. I ordered a chowder that turned out to be very thick and grey in appearance. It tasted off and very unlike chowder ! I asked to send it back and the waitress was not happy about it. I went another time about 5 years later and while they did improve somewhat, I still felt that it was poor quality food. I can’t believe that the owner says that everything is fresh and they use organic salad… it does not come across in the meal.

Had the club 57 steak — not worth the money, over cooked which wasn’t hard as the steak was very small for $ 25– Waitress not very friendly, rushed in an empty restaurant.

Too bad, so sad. I love local businesses and am always saddened when they have problems. We just got back from a dinner tonight and I can now say that 3 of the 5 steaks I have ordered there made me lose my appetite. My wife could not eat the salmon. The flavor of the fish was poor due to not being fresh/recently thawed and completely blasted by overpowering garlic. Worse yet, the service was good until we told the wait staff. They simply did not respond to my complaint and made excuses to my wife. We eat out often and love all sorts of raw and cooked meat dishes. Both of ours here were carelessly cooked. They do not appear to let the steaks rest at room temp prior to cooking. They also seem to not cook on a clean section of the grill if you order rare steak. One bite, and I, a lover of raw fish, beef and shellfish, could not eat the rest of my meal. The carrot cake is made by the owner and is a thing of beauty. I have not had better in a restaurant, but my evening was ruined by the entrée.

I’ve been to Club 57 twice now. They have a good reputation in the area and their success seems to be based on that rep. At the same time, however, I don’t exactly see much competition in the booming metropolis of Hornell, NY. The vibe is great. You could bring your family there, go there for a date, or go hunch over the bar and wait for the place to fill with a few Alfred students as it gets later in the night. The dining area is very clean, the bar looks very nice, and the overall ambiance is welcoming for a hangout session. The food is where I was underwhelmed. I’m not exactly sure where they’re trying to go with their menu, but for the most part you can get a diverse selection of food for lunch/dinner. The first time I was there I just wanted to get in and out for cheap, so I got a burger. Whoop dee doo… it was alright. When I went there recently I scoured the menu a bit and narrowed my selection to 2 items: Pacific Tuna Steak and a Thin Crust Pizza. They had an entire section of the menu dedicated to their pizzas, so I pictured them having a decent pizza oven in the back, and maybe the possibility of a nice crispy Neapolitan pizza sitting in front of me. I had to get it. After I ordered, our server came back in 15 minutes saying«I’m so sorry, we’re out of pizza shells». That sentence sucked on multiple levels. So… I ask for my backup option, the Pacific Tuna. «We no longer serve that. We had a hard time getting the fresh Tuna.» Understandable(in Hornell)… still, it’s a bummer. So I go through the menu again thinking«wow… PIZZASHELL sounds like a red flag… and I could literally walk back there and make a pizza dough for them right now…» and before I could pick anything, she comes back and says they«found the shells». Since we were all getting pretty hungry by this point, I just got the stupid pizza. It was a white pizza with fresh garlic. VERY sorry excuse for a pizza. I really should’ve trusted my gut and ran away once I heard the word«shell». The crust was this sorry, thin little slab of rectangular dough that tasted like absolutely nothing at all. The cheese and garlic were tasty, but nothing could save me from the fact that I just paid $ 10 for 2 flattened pieces of garlic bread. My friends got burgers(the same one I would’ve ordered) and they were pretty happy… so congratulations, they make a decent burger. I’ll be going back here sometime, and I recommend it as a dinner/hangout spot… but please be warned not to order the pizza… EVER. If I’m trying to go cheap, I’ll go elsewhere. Next time I’ll see if they can cook a steak, or maybe I’ll try their pasta options. However, based on my recent experience, I have a feeling that their kitchen over-utilizes their freezer in lieu of fresh cooking… not a great recipe for a pasta dish.

I just wanted to try new place to eat without any expectation of anything spectacular. It turned out great! I ordered ribs and it fell off the bones as soon I bit into it, sooo good! And I chose a baked potato and green peas as sides and they were delicious too. I just want to say everything I ate there was spectacular for this little town, and I would love to go back to try something different.
