Great little find! Seems to be a very popular place with locals, very good food, good selection of beer and wine. An overall good atmosphere. Give it a try!

Went for dinner with my wife and daughter at about 7:30 pm on July 16, 2015. The restaurant was about half full, not appearing overly busy. We sat ourselves at a table for four, right next to a full table of eight who were finished and getting to leave. Their waitress brought their check and a five minutes later came and picked up their payment. Both times the waitress never acknowledged us at our table, which was only five feet away. We waited for another 10 minutes and finally got up and left after no attempt by the wait staff to at least acknowledge we were even there. We are local Higgins Lake residents and unfortunately won’t be returning to the Spikehorn. There appeared to be plenty of wait staff but they seemed to be content giggling behind the bar. Sad.

Husband had perch which was good. Steak sandwich was horrible. It was fatty and for the most part inedible. No children’s menu.

Just about the only game on the east side of the lake. Food and service are usually good but the pizza is just too doughy. Buy pizza dough not bread dough and cook it longer you guys. Other than that it’s a decent enough place.

This was our first visit, and it was great! We both enjoyed our food and cleaned our plates to the last drop. I had the lake perch, which was amazing. The flavor, batter and freshness was perfect. And the homemade bread was stellar. I would definitely eat here again in a heart-beat. Maybe we’ll go again tomorrow, lol. They have a pool table, jukebox, and lots of tables. Nice ambiance and lots of liquor choices. The only thing I would like improved is the lighting near the front door. It was kinda hard to see the steps/entrance at night.

This place was perfectly ok. My date and I didn’t experience anything special but the service and food were good enough to recommend it to you if you just need to satisfy your hunger. See the photos for what we ate. I had the cod with mac & cheese. The cod was cooked nicely and the batter was thin so you taste the mild fish. The mac was good too. It was on the drier(rather than creamy) side, but was a nice alternate to fries. The green beans were probably frozen, but they were good and much better than the canned stuff other places tend to dish out. My date had the NY Strip sandwich and fries. He was happy with the seasoning and chowed down the fries, so they weren’t too shabby. He also had a bowl of chicken dumpling soup that he enjoyed. They have about 7 beers on tap and most are the mass marketed stuff; however they had 2 microbrews on tap that made it worth it. Beers prices were cheap, as many are in bars in these parts, so enjoy! The portions are fair for the price. The service was fine too. Our waitress was there when we we needed her. All good.

Great Pizza! Best place we ate the entire time we were in Houghton Lake area. My wife had a burger and she really liked it. Kids had the broasted chicken and loved it. It’s a little noisy inside so we sat out back on the deck. Waitress was very patient with the kids and very friendly. Will definitely be going back to this place if we are in area again.
