Avalon Square

I moved into Avalon Gardens two months ago, and very happy I did. It may well be not only the best bargain in the area but most importantly, the least understood in terms of current quality of management and the new owners recent upgrades.
For many years I’d driven by the complex, but never entertained moving there as the exterior was in such bad shape, I could only imagine what the rest of it looked like. Recently I noticed the exterior had been refurbished and looked quite attractive.
I read several of the message Boards and many of the comments of older vintage were so negative, I almost turned it down again, but decided to take a closer look. I make my own choices in life. Glad I did. The two ladies I met in the front office immediately left me the impression of being that unique combination of very friendly, highly professional, well versed, and not pushy at all. They were that way day one, then going through the lease docs with me, and have been that way every day since I’ve been here.
After I moved in, I learned that the ownership and management had changed a year ago. I can only imagine what a difference the older tenants must have seen. Common areas are very well maintained, freshly painted, and the apartments themselves are refurbished in very good taste.
Note to the current owners– Guys, you got the hardest part right: you found a great management team, and people always are the most important. The refurbishments looks great and the management is first rate, but get rid of the hall carpets that were here when you took over, they stick out like a big sore thumb in an otherwise really well done building. They really take away from all the good things you’ve done. You’ll make up the cost in a few months if you do as that would really finish it off nicely.
Another big plus, every time I have had a minor problem needing attention, the management makes sure it is taken care of the very next day, and by a maintenance staff that are so nice and willing to help.
The neighbors are very nice. It’s a great group of people, well diversified age wise, ethnically and all very polite and engaging. I have an 11 year old son who stays with me quite a bit. He loves being here. There are so many kids his age and a bit younger and older that go to his school, and he loves playing with all of them, without a single exception.
I’m not a message board freak, I don’t have the time. I made an exception in this case as it is truly unusual to find a complex so well located, with such good management, priced so well, refurbished so well (just get the carpet in please) and with such nice people living here.
I hope people do read this, the management and new owners have really earned these accolades. Just please, owners, ditch the old carpets, it really does not fit well with all the good things you’ve done.
