Add the Gyro to the will have again list. They also offer more than fries for the sides. Just ask they have to many to list

My company recently moved to this area of Houston, and my husband and I were looking for a place close to grab lunch and came across this place. It was excellent! He ordered the Philly cheese steak and I had the grilled chicken wrap. We both enjoyed it so much that we kept saying that we cannot wait to come back and try more! Excellent menu, clean, extremely quick and courteous service from staff! I almost wish I had taken a picture of my food(the portions were huge!) before I devoured it… Ha! But no worries, I will definitely be back!

The Backyard Café & Grill was picked out my one of my lunch co workers. Since I hadn’t heard of them I went immediately to Unilocal to check them out. They are located on Katy Freeway right before Barker Cypress. They are in the place where the Four Seas Mediterranean place used to be. We left a little early and arrived about 11:30AM. They have menus as soon as you walk in to review while you walk down a long aisle to order. I was told by the cashier that the top 3 items that they sell were the Philly Cheese Steak, Greek Gyro and the Chicken fried Chicken. Since it was 3 of us we decided to get one of each. They took our order and gave us cups for our drinks which there are free refills and they delivered our meals to the table. That is a nice touch, I like it. All of our agreed that each of our meals were cooked to our satisfaction. I had the Philly Cheese Steak and it was hot, they used provolone cheese and I could taste the onions and green peppers, but not enough to overpower the steak. I also had fries with my order and they had a good distinctive and unique flavor the way they were seasoned. One of my friends had the Chicken Fried Chicken and it was huge, I didn’t think he could eat it all and it came with white gravy, creamed potatoes and cole slaw. That cole slaw looked really good! My other friend had the Greek Gyro and she couldn’t eat all of it. The gyro meat was very tender and the wrap was large. She also had the distincitve fries also. By the time we left were were all very full and satisfied. I know that they will be seeing us again soon.

This place was a ghost town but I am always down to try new restaurants so I stayed. I walked in, was promptly greeted, then stared at the menu for 10 minutes trying to decide what to try. I am already indecisive at times but having just regular, slightly lackluster choices don’t help. I settled for the catfish which normally comes with fries and coleslaw but I scrapped the coleslaw for pasta salad. Ironically the pasta salad was the best part of my meal when the fish should be the headliner. The catfish was fried too hard and tasted dried out. It also tasted more fishy than it should. The french fries were standard but had a nice seasoning which was in direct contrast with the bland catfish. The meal also came with Texas toast. $ 10.95 total before tax. Even with the current two point five(bumped up to be nice) star rating, I’d be willing to come back and try another dish just because it’s close to work. Never the catfish again though. The lady at the register said the top dishes at their other location are the gyro, cheesesteak, and grilled salmon. Truth be told I do miss the Far Seas Grill… which used to be in this location. The décor is totally different on the inside but same basic concept of where everything was located. They have 50⁄11 different salads, burgers, seafood dishes(tilapia, salmon, catfish, shrimp) and some ‘other’ category dishes like the cheesesteak and gyro. The desserts in the fridge(apple & pecan pies) look pretty awful. No way they are selling those joints and especially for $ 3!
