Barringer Bar & Lounge

I went this past weekend 6÷11÷16 around 10:30 pm and the place was a little dead. The music was good (mix of old school and some top 40) and the drinks were interesting. The staff are friendly and they have good presentation with their drinks. We left for a little while that night and came back after 12 pm and it had picked up a little bit more but still empty. This is right next door to the old Copa Cabana which now is called something else. Barringer previously was Proxima, so if you are familiar with their set up, you know it has 3 floors. From what i understood was that the first floor is their main room which is narrow but long, and the second floor which is more for private events. I dont believe they do anything with the third floor. I would still recommend this place if you just want to chill and listen to some good music.

From the service to the great liquor selection Barringer bar is a great place to be. They have a great cocktail menu! They host Whiskey Wednesday’s where they have live music, and have a special on whiskey.

We held a joint birthday party in the private event space upstairs at Barringer. It. Was. Amazing! The space itself held our 50+ people very well. It has this great warehouse style about it. Two bars on either end prevented people from having to wait too long for drinks. Chieko & Robby were incredibly helpful and made sure our party was stress-​free and perfect! Thanks again for a great time!!!

We were fans of the original Barringer’s just down the block, so we were very happy to find out they had reopened here. We came to cap off our Anniversary night, it was cozy and not crowded due to bad weather, but we enjoyed the place to ourselves mostly, LOL. Bartender was attentive, friendly and prepared the perfect Cocktail for me, so I had a couple, LOL I hope this place succeeds because its a special kind of spot, laid back comfortable and I love the retro/​historical feel of the place. There was no DJ the night we came, probably due to the weather, but the music that they placed was old school, I look forward to coming back.

Some Fridays they’ll have a DJ playing pretty good tunes. Otherwise it’s pretty chill. All the bartenders are very friendly. Great place to have a conversation with someone you care about.

Barringer Bar is definitely a hidden gem in downtown Houston, as bars like this are a true rarity that should be admired and respected. The bar can be described as a speakeasy lounge, with a dimly lit, relaxed and intimate setting. Seating throughout the bar is really comfortable and you can make yourself at home, enjoy a Moscow mule (or other beverage of choice), and let the music relax you. Don’t even worry about loud, blaring music because you can have a real conversation without yelling at your friends.
The owners and bartenders are very friendly, knowledgeable, and offer great drink suggestions, depending on your personal preferences. There are so many pretentious bars around town and I would much rather visit the more welcoming ones. Barringer Bar is a great setting for small group get togethers or grabbing a few drinks before a night out around town.
I am a fan and would come back again to unwind and relax after a long day. Come visit Barringer Bar and see what this unique speakeasy lounge has to offer!

This is an awesome place downtown. They have excellent weekday specials. Their bartenders know their stuff. The ambience is really cool and laid back. You gotta check it out, I highly recommend it. Also the noise level is always under control. Loud enough to make sure you’re having a good time but really easy to carry on a conversation.

Love this place! My husband and I stopped by after the Garth Brooks concert at Toyota Center last weekend and it was great! The bartender was very helpful and made me a drink just after me telling him what I was feeling like (sparkly, light and refreshing), and the hubs loved his Old Fashion. The clientele was classy, the staff energetic, and the ambience was nice. Would recommend stopping by next time you’re downtown Houston!

This place is GOR-​GEOUS. For the fans of the last version of Barringer a few blocks over, you won’t be disappointed — it’s the same speakeasy feel but with more space and (I think) more character.
I’ve stopped in a few times and the bartenders are super friendly, the stools and chairs are super comfy, and the DJ spinning one night was throwing out some great music.
Definitely try their signature Barringer drink!

Finally! Barringer reopened with some rockin’ music, an attentive and friendly bartender, and of course the fabulous couple behind the whole operation– Chieko and Robby!
Plushy loungey couches and an intimate speakeasy vibe– just what Houston needs more of :)
