Very clean atmosphere. Literally smelled«clean». The restroom was clean and tidy. My husband and me tried this for lunch on a Wednesday around 2:00. The menu was very limited for a lunch menu. Just hibachi and bento boxes. The waiter was nice. Overall I think the $ 36 bill was a little overpriced for lunch for 2 people and considering the portions were tiny! The food was good but I left still hungry!!!

This place is definitely one of my favorites! We always get the same hibachi chef and he is fantastic! Food is always delicious and it always hits the spot.

The food comes out amazingly well hot and ready to eat but the only thing that’s not quick is the staff

The service was very slow. My party of three waited about one and a half hour before we were seated in the hibachi area(with other 2 other small groups that we had to share with) plus we waited another 30 minutes before our order was actually taken. The host was a bit rude, the waiter was very slow and didn’t even take our order. He waited until we were the last group to actually even do anything. Some other waitress had taken our order since he was taking so long. We didn’t get our house salad snd soup served until 11 pm and our food until 11:20. We arrived at 8:45 only to end up leaving way after 11. If you ever come here, please do make a reservation. The food is great, but actually getting a seat at the hibachi area and getting served takes a very long time.

This place is super yummy! I recommend coming here to anyone. I would give it 5 stars but sometimes the service is lacking but the food always comes out fast and hot!

It was ok. The staff wasn’t very knowledgeable about the menu. The happy hour food was decent but, nothing to write home about.

The hibachi is halal, very entertaining, although the ambiance was not great. Good place to go out on a date or something, but not somewhere where I would just order take out.

I don’t understand all the bad reviews of this place. We come here at least once every two weeks we would come every day if we could afford it haha! I have never been dissatisfied with my food or the service they have great sushi, awesome happy hour prices and great entrees. And their prices are as good or better than any other hibachi place(I’ve been to many) and I think they are twice as good! The fried rice is especially good!!!

Sadly, I’m going to be that typical Unilocal reviewer who says if they could leave no stars instead of one — they would do so. My fiancé and I just moved to the area and wanted to try a non-chain restaurant(plus we love hibachi). I was excited because all the reviews were pretty good and I thought it would be a great dinner. The atmosphere was quiet but the restaurant was very run down, dingy, old and unclean. I can deal with old and run down but not dirty. The hibachi grill we were seated at was in the back corner which was odd because we were the only ones on the hibachi side. After being seated the waiter turned on the grill and the room instantly started smelling like gas. We asked another waiter to come over(as ours was MIA) and she did but then went and got our waiter /the head chef. Our waiter proceeded to explain that the grills ‘always’ smell like gas when you turn them, while the chef had to finagle the overhead vent to stay on with a pair of chopsticks. Even after all this we placed our order. The final cherry on top(and when we decided to leave) was when the vent /light began flickering, the gas grill had the whole room smelling like gas and I discovered my plate and silverware were all very dirty. We definitely will not go back.

The music was amazing and the atmosphere was quiet and nice. The sushi happy hour was very reasonable. We had a bakery roll and it was delicious. Our martinis were great and my friend loved his sake bomb. Our waiter who called himself G was very knowledgeable and hilarious. We will definitely be back to try out their habachi.

This review is not based on their food at all. My fiancé and I just left here. We walked in to someone singing karaōke very quietly and awkwardly. He wasn’t great, but please don’t hire someone to sing if they’re not going to put on a relatively good performance. Regardless of their talent. We were seated immediately and then that was it. I have 3 aquariums at home and could instantly tell this poor fish has ich(disease) and his face was literally rotting away. Like… Some of his face was missing. After 10 minutes of not ONE person asking us if we wanted anything to drink or if someone had helped us, even though all the tables around us were being helped, we left. I won’t be returning again.

Drove all the way out to Bonsai from the med center and it didn’t disappoint. Came with a group of 10, so we all were seated at one hibachi table. Server took long to take our orders and the hibachi chef took even longer to come out but once the chef came, he was awesome. He did the typical tricks with some added ones I’d never seen before and I’ve been to many different hibachi restaurants. Portion sizes were good. Prices were decent considering the meat is halal. I will be back probably for a special occasion or if I have family in town.

The worst experience I’ve had in a while. Overpriced and small portion. I took a client for lunch and was embarrassed…

So I wrote a review on here before stating that the hibachi wasn’t good and bland but deleted to re-write this giving them 3 stars instead because I wanted to give them a chance and try some more food but I was wrong When I first stepped in, nobody was at the front. There was only one waitress working and the bartenders and bus boys had to take turns bringing customers to tables as they came. So anyways, I sat in a booth and for the longest time I kept smelling a stank a** stench. I then realized that it was mop water. The whole time the smell was bothering me so bad I could barely eat. The smell was disgusting Egg drop soup: 1÷5− pretty terrible. I literally used up half a pepper shaker to make it more edible. Wasn’t eggy at all and was way watered down. I’ve had better else where House salad: 2÷5− salad was ok but I probably wouldn’t get it again. I didn’t like the dressing much, tasted diff from the ones at other japanese restaurants and not as good Crab puffs: 5÷5− very good, crunchy and hot with the right amount of cream cheese. I really liked this dish Crunchy roll: 2÷5− not good at all, I forgot to look at what type of fish was inside but it was very chewy, tough, dry and tasted old. I almost choked on it. Very little crunchy flakes on top. The crunchy roll is my fav at sushi restaurants and i always get it, but at Bonsai it would have to be the worst crunchy roll I’ve ever had Bakery roll: 5÷5− came out very hot and crunchy. I really liked this roll, maybe because I love fried food hehe it was super crunchy Overall I probably wouldn’t come back. Even though it was HH and the food was cheap. Service was ok, waitress was nice but really slow. She did check on us once but it took a really long time to get my food and get the check. I left here unsatisfied

I came in on a Tuesday night where there was only 3 tables. The waitstaff was super nice. We ordered so many items to try. Chicken fried rice was bland need more pepper and soy sauce. Tako sonimo was missing the ponzu sauce so it was so dry. I had to ask the waiter for it. Bento box had a nice small salad. The tempura was ok. The steak was fair. The price was $ 22 not really a good deal. I ordered the $ 15 lobster roll it was maybe 3 stars. The spicy tuna roll was horrible it was missing taste just chili powder. I really think the sushi chef left or something because it was absolutely the worse sushi I ever had. The tuna sashimi was frozen fish and watery it was $ 6 for two pieces. I love tamago but strangely this one was hot and microwaved??? This was my first trip and the service was great but after spending $ 80 for two people I think I will pass on this location next time when I drive by. What a pitty it was so close to the house.

Yes, I am a fan I am a regular and I am a customer who totally gets«IT» when the service is great and the food is even better!(1.2 mi from our house) Their happy hour is wonderful … the place is very small, but hey, they make up for it with superb quality dishes and awesome drink specials! Their sushi is always fresh and comes out fast — their chicken lettuce wraps(scrumptious) … I personally always get the same spicy tuna roll over and over again, but don’t sleep on their sashimi or any of the other pieces they serve fresh daily! Did I say I was a fan? Yeah. I really am. **Extra bonus… lyche martini or lyche champagne $ 4** whooooop! Happy Hour is ALL day on Sundays(that’s just phenomenal!) Signed, Bar-top Cryssy, Me

Terrible new chef– I have been here more than a dozen times and always get hibachi so its safe to say I KNOWHOWTHINGSARESUPPPOSEDTOBEDONE. We got a new chef on this trip(Eller Villareal) and I immediately told him I wanted mild fried rice but my husband wanted his rice spicy. So he goes and gets a bottle or sriracha and puts it right by my husbands plate. Ok? I thought maybe he didnt hear me so I said again my husband wants the chile oil in his rice. So he says they have to do that in back. Huh? My husband then says we always get it done this way so the chef says yes but they chile oil is in the back kitchen. Ok? So does he wants us to go get it? So he asks waitress to get and again he puts it by my husband. This time I’m just annoyed so I leave it alone. Next he starts our meat, shrimp and vegetables. He focuses on meat and the shrimp is on grill the whole time. Now shrimp is supposed to be appetizer and doesn’t take long to cook. Well we got shrimp AFTER steak. It was rubbery and over cooked. Secondly they give these two sauces with meat. We got our meat and i asked waitress for sauce and she says chef has the sauce and tells him to give. Well it took another 20min after he done with everything to give us sauce. For 2 of us its $ 60 total to have ribeye hibachi which is a nice chunk of change. I would expect and have gotten better service than this. I think this guy is new but he needs to get it together or find another job because he ruined our meal.

UNBELIEVABLE. One of the best food experiences I’ve had. Kobe beef, beef sashimi, beef with teriyaki sauce, chicken teriyaki, chicken fried rice, chick gyozas… allll the way till the end… with the green tea fried ice cream. Waiter was friendly. Hibachi chef was like most others I’ve had, similar jokes but still funny… and pretty friendly after he realized that we were THAT annoying family that would order as we ate, 2 – 3 dishes every 15 minutes when we realized we loved it and wanted more.(For that, I apologize my friend). Anyways, Halal Hibachi. you CANNOT go wrong with clean meat and awesome food, and a good performance. Prices were pretty reasonable as well. ENJOY, while I lament that I cannot have this in New Jersey until I visit again…(and again). This will not be the last of me Bonsai!

Today was my fourth visit to Bonsai Fusion and never left a review so here it goes! For all those times I visited, it was pretty quiet and slow. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is fairly clean. The menu is reasonably priced, but I’d say if you’re only coming for sushi/rolls then come during Happy hour because Happy hour has great deals on Sushi and drinks! During my first visit(some time last year), I ordered Calamari(I always order Calamari as an appetizer to compare my experiences). It was the BEST calamari I have ever had! The Calamari was lightly battered and came with Basil leaf. I rated this place with the #1 Calamari. Rolls were delicious and service was nice. Cocktail drinks were well made! I would’ve gave them 5 stars during my first visit! So, I had to return for my second and third visit. Second and Third visit, I ordered Calamari and 3 ways Seafood($ 21). The Calamari wasn’t that great during my second visit, so I came again for the third time. The Calamari and rating was about the same because I ordered similar items and service was about the same. 3 ways Seafood is pretty good and filling. If you like seafood and want a little bit of everything then order this! My second and third visit rating was about 4-stars. Today, My boyfriend and I came in hungry and ordered the Calamari as an appetizer, Bakery roll, Crunchy Roll, Spider roll, Hot sake, Lychee Champagne, Lychee Martini. I was hoping for the Calamari to be better, but the quality and taste went down a lot. I’m not sure if the management changed. The Calamari portion was small and it was clumped together; which is not a good thing when it comes to Calamari. Anyways, I LOVE their Bakery roll! It was crunchy and delicious! Crunchy roll and Spider roll were pretty good, too. I really enjoyed the bakery roll the most and my drinks. If you like sweet drinks, try the Lychee Martini($ 4 during HH) It’s not strong but pretty watered down for the sweet taste. If you like dry and bubbly, try their Lychee Champagne($ 4 during HH)! I will definitely return again to try more of their items on the menu!
