Great place, we got sandwiches for our team’s corporate event for lunch, and they were very inexpensive, tasty and plain good.

Convenient place to stop and grab a bite to eat. They have a large variety of vegetarian options, which is great! Which Which set up — you write what you want on the bag and they make it. Not a fan of their kale slaw, which is too bad. This afternoon, I grabbed a tuna salad on rye and went to Menil Park and ate my sandwich while I read my book on a blanket on the lawn. Kind of a perfect afternoon.

I’ve been frequenting this location for many many years. Here’s the rub, get your sandwich toasted, and thank me later.
Always a great sandwich, maybe been disappointed 1 out of 100 times. They use great ingredients, don’t screw up and they are quick. I have also used this location for sandwich trays and they do a great job. Highly recommended and reasonably priced.

Ordered a delicious roast beef on multigrain with horseradish white cheddar, mustard, and onions. Friendly and prompt service.

This place is a bargain considering the prices of food in the surrounding areas. Although it has a no frills atmosphere, you get the sense that your sandwich is fresh and the the ingredients aren’t of bad quality. It especially shows in the softness of the buns. The Jalapeño cheddar bun I chose was super soft and had a sweet hint to it which was pretty awesome.

I am not a huge fan of sandwiches, but I really enjoy them here at Brown Bag Deli. For years, I have been consistent in ordering the tuna + pecans on whole wheat or jalapeño bread. Get the special and add a bag of chips and a fountain drink and call it a day. Good stuff!

BBD has the BEST black bean burger in Houston! The bread, the patty and all the toppings taste SO fresh and SO good. Love love love this place. I have introduced a few of my friends to this burger and they absolutely loved it. If you have not gone there yet, you need to come check out this amazing deli.

I think the sandwiches were $ 5.50 when I started eating here. Now they are $ 7.00. Honestly it sucks cause I’m not financially well off at this point, so every bit counts. The sandwiches provided by BBD are worth $ 7.00. They are large enough for me to split with someone and still be reasonably full. Also — they just taste so damn good.
I get the chicken salad on wheat, lettuce, onion, cheese, mayo, and dat honey mustard. What honey mustard do they use? It’s so good.
Other things to note:
Gay friendly.
Nice atmosphere.
Helpful and kind staff.
Sandwiches can be heated.
Bread is good, and fresh.
My sandwich tasted odd one time — I think I also got egg salad instead of chicken once.
(I’ve tried other things here, but I specifically come here just to get the chicken salad every time.)

This place has the right idea for a deli. They stuff their sandwiches with as much stuff as the bread will take. I ordered and oven-​roasted turkey sandwich to-​go and it was a quick and easy process. Seemed pricey until I saw how much food I got. Simple ingredients, lots of flavor. Also, the warm, right-​out-​of-​the-​oven chocolate chip cookie was to die for! Will definitely be here again.

I live across the street and have been wanting to try this place. It was a slow easy Sunday afternoon and we were the only patrons there and upon entering we were greeted and explained the menu and brown bag ordering system.
The menu is printed on brown paper bags with checks and boxes to select your sandwich ingredients, side orders and beverage. This system might be efficient in a crowded shop but it felt clunky with the sandwich artist hovering over in anticipation. The provided golf pencils were difficult to write legibly with and it just felt like I was filling out a long web form. I was half expecting a captcha to solve at the end.
The sandwich was very meaty and served on a fresh tasty bun. In fact it was so meaty it was impossible to eat without removing half the mound. Everything was fresh and tasted good but spending over $ 15 for a sandwich, drink and chips was left a sour taste in my mouth. $ 30 plus for a lunch for two in Houston can be had at just about any high end gourmet restaurant. Sandwiches and sodas for two should be less than twenty. At these prices I won’t be returning.

I was actually looking for a Subway, but my phone said this sandwich place was closest. In I went. It’s across from the Goodwill Store, and the road is being worked on here. Hopefully, that will be short-​lived. You walk up to the counter, grab a pre-​printed brown bag (one per order), check the appropriate boxes, hand it to the cashier, and pay. Then wait. They will call your name. The sandwiches were delicious, huge. We had one tuna, one chicken salad. Both excellent. They do have a combo special of drink, sandwich, chips. I think they’re a tad expensive: $ 20 for two sandwiches, 2 bottles of Fiji water. Eeeks. There are a few tables for eating, but on the whole, it seems to be a take-​out place, with lots of orders called in.

I love Brown Bag Deli. When ever I go there and eat it all ways fills me up. if I lived here I would go there every day if I could!!!

Do you like chicken salad? They make THE BEST chicken salad in Houston! White meat chicken salad to be more specific. They make their own bread (OMG) and you always end up with a nice fresh deli sandwich. The kale salad is yummee and features golden raisins. Also, I am a fan of any restaurant that sells Dirty Chips as they compliment any sandwich perfectly.

Brown Bag Deli is one of my favorite spots to grab a simple sandwich on-​the-​go. I love that all of the cold cuts are Boars Head brand, and that there are so many ways to customize your sandwich (a lot of different toppings and spreads for your sandwich.)

Order exactly what you want (skip what you don’t) with the order form you’ll fill out when walking up to the counter. Service was fast and friendly. I’m a lover of chicken salad and had to try theirs. The sandwich was $ 6.95 solo which was fair considering that the mountain of meat/​salad was almost too big to fit my mouth around. I just wish there was an option for ordering a half size sandwich

Really good. Had the oven roasted turkey on multi grain with horseradish cheese and deli mustard, let, tom, onion. Kale slaw. All very good. Kale slaw was really good. A little pricey, and I’ve had much better true deli style sandwhiches, but I would come back here if in the area. It’s better than most sandwich places. At least the one I got was.

On second thought, I downgraded the stars due to comparison with other sandwich places, such as Houston panini press and others. It is good but hidden ingredients such as onions in the side dishes. Not listed menu and I should not have to ask. Tuna itself was good

Let me preface this review by saying I’m not a big fan of sandwiches. Didn’t really expect much from a place called the «Brown Bag Deli», but I was totally blown away. Man these sandwiches are amazing. Almost as good as Local Foods, but less gourmet. They are NOT stingy with the ingredients. Perfect ratio of meat, bread, and veggies. And to top that off, you can do half and half meat.
I had half egg salad half turkey on jalapeño cheese bread with all the fixings including avocado. Delicious. Half a sandwich was able to fill me up and I eat a lot. I will be back!

This place came up high on the search list for $ restaurants… for good reason. The roast beef sandwich was overstuffed with demigod roast beef. The potato salad side was also huge and delicious. the tea and lemonade are also good. You would pay alot more at one of those New York deli places. thumbs up to this place.
I had to downgrade/​edit my initial review… the pair salad was too mayonnaisey/​liquidy and have me acid later on. also, upon reflection, the jalapeño bread didn’t hold up well… it kind of crumbled up towards the end… oh well.

I can’t believe I am giving a sand which shop 5 stars, but I was really impressed. The food was extremely fresh and full of flavor. I had turkey with avocado on white. The meat portion was huge more than I typically get at other delis. The bread was so good, soft with a hint of sweetness & just tasted very fresh. The entire sandwich was huge, I ate it as two separate meals. I enjoyed the potato salad made with red potatoes it was not typical and the serving size was very generous. The service was friendly and quick. One last thing… I love lemonade, it is my favored drink and it tasted very fresh & homemade just the right combination of sweetness & tartness. I can’t believe I have never stopped & this place before. I will not make that mistake again. Next time I will try one of those cookies all my Unilocalers are raving about.
