China Border Restaurant

This place used to be good and then was hit or miss… Now it is just an EPIC Fail… I have a punch card that allows a free buffet after 10 visits which is one of the only reasons I have come back… The last 3 times I have been here I have noticed the quality is very bad… Today I actually did not eat any of my food… I tried their general tso and it was lukewarm with a very stale flavor… I got grossed out and just decided to payout and move on… Yuck

Not a pleasant environment. Noisy. Cluttered seating. Outside looks intimidating. Food is only a little above average. Prices are about right. So… I guess it depends on how much you want to enjoy the experience. If you’re just hungry and you don’t care, then this is the place.

Wow China border used to be good years ago. we made the mistake of going today. The food is terrible. I typically never eat at Chinese buffet. We went today and I regret coming here. I should have just went to mambos across the street. Food was cold flavorless and old. Really bad. Not sure how they are in business.

I believe they close at 9 or 10 pm and my party arrived around 7:30. After about 30 mins from arriving they were coming to the table asking for our payment so they could close out their registers I’m guessing and were already in the process of closing down parts of the buffet. The waitress of course was unaware I could understand her language and I could over hear her talking about our party and how I wrote on my credit card receipt that there was no way I would justify a tip. Crawfish is very salty and not good. Poor quality !

Came here with my girlfriend hoping to have a good meal because we were really hungry. Anyway…
The food looked attractive at first, but when we got our food and sat, I’d say that we began to frown and eat slowly. We became overly-​conscious of how prepared and warm the food really was. There was a smell of dirty dish water liquid. It was an unpleasant experience. We’re not coming back to this place.

I came here with some co-​workers looking for a Chinese food fix and this did nothing to stisfy my cravings.
The retaurant itself is very big– sprawling, with an on site kitzch/​memorablia store, and koi pond. The food, however, leaves much to be desired.
When i go to a Chinese restaurant, even a buffet, I like to eat Chinese, or Asian inspired food, but this buffet had very little of that type of fare to offer, and what was served was very meager in taste and variety. They had more fried foods, bar-​be-​que and pasta dishes than steamed veggies and choices of savory meats and morsels that I expect from a Chinese place.
They style themselves as a very Chinese restaurant, but the fare is more Golden Corral, than Golden Panda, so that experience was a dissapointment.
The service was fair as far as that goes, but the next time I want Chinese, I’m just going to the Happy Family buffet off 1960 and Aldine-​Westfield.

Did a drive by and didn’t check Unilocal — I paid the price and the best thing I can say is they have a great selection of salt and grease. Really sub par tasting food even for a buffet, but we didn’t get sick. Service was good and bathrooms were clean which is why they get 2 stars.
Kids ate their usual fried stuff and a plate of brocolli. Wife had some enchiladas that she liked — lol. I ate and spit at least a dozen things before giving up. Fruit was not good either.
It took a few minutes for the Chinese food smell to leave my clothes after we left.
We won’t be coming back.

Not bad for a chinese buffet they had typical chinese buffet food. They had a really good vegetable soup besides all of the typical buffet soups was nice to see something different and healthy for a option. Big place also had a sushi bar that looked quite appetizing including the tall asian guy running the sushi bar with a nice smile. Lunch buffet was close to $ 9.00. Is right off of 45 hwy. Its hard not to notice the big China Border sign off the hwy.
