I met my Dad here after work to grab something to eat. It was the first time at Christian’s Tailgate for both of us. I arrived first at 4:30 pm, I was one of a few people in the restaurant. I was treated like a queen by both my waitress and the bartender. Since I don’t drink beer, they both went out of their way and brought to my table every bottle of wine that they served, offering a sample of each. Seriously these ladies served me like I was royalty, I have to give them props. Our waitress was super helpful and honest, I always ask the waiter or waitress for their recommendations on menu items, this lady was honest and real, not just suggesting the most expensive item on the menu as many waiters do. My burger was awesome, service and atmosphere was exceptional, service was way above and beyond what you would expect at an icehouse or sports bar. It was more like eating out at Houston’s. I highly recommend for a laid back but upscale icehouse/sportsbar.

This is going to my final review on Christians Tailgate. Let’s just say I will not be returning after last nights adventure. So I went here with a couple of friends and was served by a gentleman named Kennedy. Everything was good and find until we decided to tab out. I made the mistake of paying with my debit card. Did not want to tip out on that card because I had cash in my pocket that I was going to leave him. So, like a normal person would I drew a line on the tip part and left it on the table because me and my friends were not leaving yet. Kennedy came back and picked up the receipts on the table and he very loudly said«what did I do wrong» I said«excuse me» he said«no tip bro» and took my receipt and left. Now I understand that waiters work off of tips. I totally get it but, never in my 29 years on this earth had I had a waiter so blatantly do something like that. The intentions were to give him a CASH tip but after that. The moment was gone. For that reason I will never return to this particular place. It was very tacky and not professional.

Service there is horrible at lunch time. Waited forever for my meal, the chef rang the bell, it took the server 15 mins to realize my food was ready and the place was not busy. Smh!!! Really!!!

I’m not sure how this place is still in business with the recent experience we had. The service was painfully bad; numerous times we had to get up and get our own drinks or silverware after it had been requested and then forgotten. The waitress blamed the fact that they were«so busy» but there wasn’t hardly anyone there(I know why now). I wouldn’t come back here if it was free. If you do go, don’t order anything but the hamburger. Even the wings were terrible!

Christians Tailgate went from bad to worse. I can’t tell what is worse: 1. The lack of quality in their food(ew) 2. The poor service on a Friday night(understaffed) 3. Or the fact that I found a bug in my lemon drop(WTF) I came here on a busy Friday night. Tell me why there were only 3 servers all night. Seriously?! This is why I will not come back: — This place is filthy. Please make renovations by replacing some of the booths because it is tearing apart. Some of the tables/bars were nasty and sticky. And why was there a bug in my lemon drop?!(It looked like a mosquito) Unacceptable. — The service is downright terrible. Our waters were not refilled at all. Our server even over-charged my friends tab when he did not order 2 burgers. She ended up fixing it but still, please pay more attention to your tabs. It killed our vibe for the night. — I had the oysters since it was a Friday night. Obviously they have been frozen but it was not as good as it use to be. Don’t bother with their fries. It’s disappointing. My boyfriend and I also ordered a small Swiss mushroom burger and onion rings. That was actually pretty decent but the onion rings were cold. I’m not sure why this place has gotten so bad but management needs to make some improvements ASAP.

This is the third Christian’s Tailgate I’ve been too and now I can truly say this is my favorite bar in Houston. No matter what location you go too the food is good the oysters are fresh and 50 cents on Fridays and OMG the drinks are stiff and totally Diva on a budget approved for a nice happy hour that won’t kill your bank account. I really appreciate that happy hour doesn’t end til 7 so you have time to get there and enjoy happy hour unlike places that end when most people get off work. The waitresses worked quick and had a new drink out in minutes and had a smile the entire time.

The bacon bacon burger is a must have! The atmosphere of the restaurant was the tropical bar and grill place BUT better because they are dog friendly. Our service was not that great as the burger. I wasn’t expecting over the top service from a bar but it took 20 minutes for our waitress to come and take our drink order. In her defense it could have been a busy night for for since it seemed like there were only two waitress in the patio area. Who knows? I also saw a table leave because no one helped them out. That is why I rated this place a 4. Otherwise they would have been a 5 because like I said the bacon bacon burger was great! Atmosphere was awesome with a lot of Tvs!

My coworkers and I decided to meet up on a Friday after work for happy hour. We all agreed to meet at the«Christian’s Tailgate in the Heights» so I drove to this one. My coworker called me and said she was there but didn’t see my car. I was inside and told her to come in… low and behold she was at the wrong location. Actually, I was at the wrong location because my coworkers really meant for us to go to the one on Washington. Anyways, I decided to just start happy hour by myself until the coworkers met me at the ACTUAL location in the Heights. 50 cent oyster fridays is what brought us here in the first place, and I wasn’t a big fan of oysters after my first time trying them on my own. Apparently, I had to be taught the right way to eat them– they were fresh and it wasn’t as bad. I’ll probably order some the next time I go again. The beer is cheap, the wells whiskey was fine to me but terrible to my coworkers. I got a pretty good buzz going over here after multiple mixed drinks, beer, and a margarita– I know… but I was celebrating! This location is alot bigger and open compared to the one on Washington apparently. This bar is great for happy hour before moving on to bigger and better things since y’know… the night is young and all. ;)

I used to love coming here! The service is absolutely the worst! Sat in the dining area waited 10 min, never got a menu. Decided we didn’t want to eat here and moved to the open bar area where we waited for 5 min at the open bar before the not so busy bartender acknowledged us. So disappointing.

Christian’s has poker night on Monday nights. What better way to start the week out than to start it with poker, beer, and burgers. I always get there a little early and get the 1⁄3 pound cheeseburger. They have one of the best burgers in Houston. The fries are top notch as well. On another occasion, I ordered the chicken tender wrap, and it was ridiculously good. The service at Christian’s is excellent. When the weather is right, there is an awesome outside area with a full bar that is very enjoyable also. They have different specials every day of the week.

This was my first time going to Christian’s Tailgate on White Oak as I’ve always gone to the one in Midtown. I’m familiar with their burger and I am a fan of their country fried bacon burger. Every time I order this burger, I always ask for extra bacon and some cheese and that makes this a pricey burger. If you add some side order and a couple of beers, you could spend at the very least, $ 20 plus tax and tip dining here. Obviously since I’ve come to Christian’s plenty, I’m not going to whine about the prices. I didn’t like this location as much as I do the Midtown location because it’s pretty much just a giant covered patio. You’re not really dining«inside» when you dine here because it’s all open space with a giant roof over it. You could smoke in here and when the weather is hot, you will sweat and you will deal with all the bugs and/or mosquitoes that you would normally deal with outside. Also, I couldn’t really feel the breeze from the fans that are blowing inside. It’s fair to say that I wasn’t too comfortable when I was dining here. If you come with a big group, they will tack on gratuity even though everybody is paying separately. I wish I had paid closer attention to my receipt because I assumed that like most bar and grill that I frequent with a bunch of my friends, I wouldn’t get gratuity tacked on. How wrong was I!!! Lesson learned. They have a private lot with limited parking spaces so that’s a plus. However, when it gets packed, you might have to find parking on the street. And this place does get busy, just like any other bars on White Oak. All in all, if I’m craving for the country fried bacon burger and I’m in the neighborhood or don’t feel like driving to Midtown then I’d swing by here. Otherwise, I’d rather go hang out at Onion Creek or do steak night at Public House where at least I know I can stay comfortable inside.

Tonight for dinner I ordered the regular hamburger with the ½ lb. patty and fries. I also had the frito chili pie as an appetizer. The burger was a good sized meal with that ½ lb. patty. All three items were good however nothing stood out that would warrant a score higher than a 3. Service was good.

I’ve been to this particular Christian’s 3 times in the last few months because it’s on my Sunday Bike route. It’s the only restaurant that can accommodate our size, but after the last trip I don’t think I’ll visit anymore for one reason… poor service. It typically takes 5 – 15 minutes just to get a server, then another 15 minutes to place food/drink orders. It’s never crazy packed on Sunday afternoon’s, so i’m not sure why there’s always such a ridiculous wait? It’s really unfortunate, because the patio area is really nice. In addition, we never receive our discount for riding bikes despite telling the server. The midtown location is a much better option.

I was with a group this time and they were going here and thought maybe this time, almost a year later, they would have improved given how many negative reviews they have. Somehow, they even got worse. Where to start… there is still plenty of smoking inside. Like Actually inside the bar area with the window/doors closed against city ordinance. It can’t be considered outside if there is a roof and 4 walls around it. Fortunately I won’t be back there for the reasons I’ll mention below so it’s not my lungs that will suffer. Moving along, the place is pretty dirty. I was sitting at one of the taller tables they have near the shuffleboard table and as soon as I put my arm on the table, my jacket stuck to the table with the thick gunk that was on there. Not sure what it was– either dried beer or spilled sprite that was never cleaned up. Now I have to leave my jacket at the cleaners or ruin it in the machine. Speaking of the shuffle board table, it’s missing pucks and the ones that are there are falling apart and they have to put masking tape to know which one is which color. There is also hardly any sand on it so it’s purely for decoration. So ok, so far, there is smoking inside, it’s dirty, and their bar games don’t work. It’s a bar right? It’s supposed to be dirty and just a place for drinking except that the bartender, especially the blonde girl in yoga pants has little concept of service. I was observing her at work for a good 10 minutes as I stood there with money in my hands while she kept ignoring me. I’m not sure what system she was using. I’m tempted to use the race card since I saw a couple of white guys just pull up to the bar and get service immediately while me and a Hispanic guy were waiting, but I’ll just chalk it up to incompetence. Finally, a bar back or whoever the little dude there was comes and gets to me(after ignoring me the first time and going to the guy next to me) and gives me my draft Shiner and overcharges me a dollar.(Shiner Drafts are supposed to be $ 4 per their menu…) At that point, I didn’t even care anymore. Oh and they have $ 7 parking now. Have fun with that. Seriously, how is this place still in business? Response to Mazen B.: You can’t just randomly call an area a smoking section. Please read the rules:
In particular look at section 4 where it states: 4.0 Smoking may be permitted in designated enclosed meeting areas within convention centers, hotels, motels, and other meeting facilities only while in actual use for private functions. You are NOT a hotel and this is NOT a private function so you can not have a closed off area with smoking permitted. Furthermore, you are also violating section 5 because your employees witness the smoking and do nothing about it and you are even admitting to it here instead of putting up no smoking signs in that area and anywhere within 25 feet of the entrances. The only way you could get away with it is if you were a registered tobacco bar which you are not. So please, if you are going to violate the city ordinance, just admit it. This is 2015. Times have changed. As for the parking, fair enough, it’s not your parking lot, but how many free spots do you offer your customers? 0 – 5? What’s the capacity of your building? When you don’t offer parking then someone else has to charge them for it and you DO benefit at the end.

Ok, food, beer selection, and atmosphere get 5 stars… but the service we received didn’t even deserve 1… so a 3 star rating it is!!! The burger I ordered was amazing, and the beer selection is insane. Tons of beers on tap, and then literally dozens more in bottles. Sadly they were out of my favorite Shiner Light Blonde, but as mentioned there were plenty of alternatives. The service, sadly was miserable. Our waitress, Priscilla, was flat out awful. When she finally came to our table we ordered our beers. My friends came out fine, but mine was a draft beer with a wedge of orange(I had ordered a Shiner Light Blonde in a bottle) Ok, no biggie, just a mistake. When I asked her she simply replied«oh we were out of what you ordered!» and began to walk away. Ummmm… what? Why not come ask me what my next choice is? I sent the beer back, and she brought me my next selection. I only like beers in bottles, Just a weird preference of mine. Unfortunately the mix ups kept happening. She brought out the wrong burgers, even after coming back to the table to confirm our order. Later brought me the wrong beer for a second time, and then somehow when I asked for a water I was brought a lemonade. All that being said, I can handle a few mistakes, no one is perfect. But this girl had attitude. Never once did she say anything close to «Oh, I’m sorry!» or even a «My bad!» At one point, on a trip to bring me one of the corrected beer orders she even slammed it down on the table as she walked past. Not in an angry way, but in a no time for this table sort of way… Overall, she really made what would have been a great girlfriends night a bit uncomfortable. We still enjoyed the food, there are tons of TV’s and as mentioned a fantastic bar selection. So I recommend this place, just make sure you don’t get Priscilla. You will spend most of your night waiting to receive a wrong order. P. S. Great crowd for watching football, but it will be LOUD once the game is on. TV’s cranked up and people having to talk over it makes for a very loud experience. It’s fun but be warned.
