Love the fried fish. Went with my aunt today who lives close by. She said the grilled whole fish is excellent and it comes in butter. The wait staff is always super nice and prompt. I wish they stayed open later. It would be the perfect spot to eat before a night out downtown.

Boiled shrimp: perfect. Fried fish and shrimp: good. This place is worth a try if you’ve never been. It’s a working class place to get a lot of food for a small amount of money. Great service.

I love the food so I keep coming but the service sucks ass! We couldn’t get our check. The server cleared our table asked if we needed anything else and we said no then left us sitting there forever while she refilled condiments for her other empty tables and then she passed us up walked back and continued filling then got a new table and began taking their orders. We had to wave down another lady to get our check that came pretty fast then our server saw our check and check card in our table just waiting and ignored it we had to get up and go pay the damn thing upfront. Just rude as hell.

Connie’s has a great simply inexpensive lunch but they also have a great seafood platter and appetizers when you want to go all out with family. They staff is always friendly and the prices are great.

If you’re looking for some delicious seafood, avoid this place. Our order took forever and there wasn’t even a big crowd. The only decent thing is the rice but THATSIT! Save yourself time and go somewhere else.

Stopped in with a couple of associates for a late lunch, although the restaurant was mostly filled we managed to find a table and was immediately greeted by our very friendly server that spoke no English but apparently understood some. I was concerned about whether she understood anything I said because she just smiled and shook her head acknowledging she understood my order. The food came out fairly quick considering the amount of people in the restaurant and everything seemed to be prepared to order except the fried shrimp rice which was very good but by the size of the portion and the fact that almost everyone in the restaurant had a equal size serving its obvious they make it in bulk, anyway I’m sure by the amount they sell it’s always pretty fresh. I also had three shrimp tacos, I must admit they looked better than they tasted, being a fan of this type of food I was a little disappointed in the tacos, the shrimp were cold and rubbery and the salsa was bland served on cold tortillas that were soaked in the liquid of the salsa I poked at the shrimp but settle on just eating the fried rice. I’d probably give them another try everyone else seemed to really enjoy their food and all had been here multiple times and apparently ordered better that me.

Great half-shell oysters. Very laid back vibe. Food is pretty cheap especially for the amount you get. Cheap beerritas as well.

Love this place! Consistently good food that is well worth the price. Lots of options for fried or grilled seafood. The only reason they are not getting 5 stars is that the service can be very slow at times! And the waitresses aren’t always very polite.

It was okay at best. Fried rice was good. they don’t have the good hot sauce like golden or mambos. The batter tastes bland. Really not a fan. Go to golden or mambos. The waitresses don’t speak English! I asked for hot sauce and they brought me out a sweet tea.

This seafood restaurant is awesome. The fish is so fresh and always tastes good. The price is really good for all kinds of fish. The fresh fish from the market is on display in the front and you can even pick out the exact fish you want and how you want it prepared. When you get rice as your side, be aware that it is fried rice… which is really good. The servers all speak English, but it may help you to know a little bit of Spanish. The service is super fast even on packed Friday’s during lent. You can not separate checks on the weekends, but you can split evenly up at the cashier’s table. Definitely making return visits in the future!

Fried seafood. Fried, greasy seafood. Nothing more– nothing less. The restaurant is loud with music and patrons. If someone plays the jukebox– that only has Mexican music– it becomes very loud. Pricing is reasonable. I’ve been many times and will continue to go. But when it’s all said and done, it’s simply good, fried, salty seafood.

The food here is always fast, fresh, and hot. It’s not a five star restaurant but the food is good. The staff doesn’t speak much English so sometimes the language barrier can be tricky but I love it none the less.

Food and service was spectacular! You can’t beat their prices for fresh seafood! Be bold and you’ll be sold. Fried rice is better than how the Asians cook it!

Connie’s is my idea of a solid hole in the wall no frills good food spot. Upon walking in you are greeted by a full on fresh seafood counter with plenty of whole fish and oysters on ice. During oyster season this place is one of my favorite places in town to enjoy fresh oysters on the half shell. For oyster snobs they only serve local gulf oysters but they are always fresh and the price is hard to beat. The whole fish dishes here are also a must try. They offer any of the fish they carry, filleted and grilled, whole fried, or ranchero(fried and then smothered in onions, garlic and chilies). The fish is served with fried rice or fries(the fried rice is legit). The other menu items are your standard fried fare served with tarter sauce, still pretty good but I stick to the whole fish and raw oysters. A must try if you visit Connie’s is the Michelada, by far the best I’ve had in town and again you can’t beat the price. The place can get pretty crowded and parking can be problematic on weekend nights but the visit will be worth it.

Well I don’t know how Golden Seafood can stand competition with Connie’s being close to each other because Connie’s is so much better! I don’t know about everything like the drinks and raw oysters which I don’t like anyway but the food quality is not at the same level. Honestly I have given Golden Seafood a second chance after a bad one but it still didn’t improve my opinion. Connie’s has very good fried stuff, calamari, fried fish, fried oysters(it depends on how fresh the oysters are on the day). They are lightly battered. The meat is very moist and tender and flavorful. I don’t really try hard to look for fish and chips places in Houston so I don’t know what’s good out there. But this is like the second best fried fish I have had in the US(No.1 in Malibu California). I usually try to stay on the healthy side and order the grilled fish platter. For what your money is worth, it’s pretty good grilled fish. The platter comes with a plain salad and fried rice or fries. The fried rice is ok. Not to obnoxious but since when fried rice is a Mexican thing anyway? If I want fried rice I go to Chinese restaurants and there are many kinds to choose from. Or even Korean restaurant for the kimchi fried rice. My husband really likes Connie’s but since fried fish is not the healthiest thing on earth we don’t go too often but once a while we will go(guess as you age you do need to watch your cholesterol). So far we still like it. We mostly go for the fried combo platter and grilled fish platter and calamari. The crab cakes are ok not amazing. Don’t know too much of the rest. If you like fried fish, definitely recommended.

I stopped here on a Friday during Lent, so I knew it would be busy. It was crowded, and parking is pretty hard to come by when it is that busy. We only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. I started with the oysters, which were tiny. They were shucked poorly, so they were full of shell and grit. I had a combination plate for dinner. The cornmeal batter was decent, but the pieces of fish were small and dried out. The service was good, and the prices were low compared with most seafood restaurants in Houston.

I’m a die hard Golden Seafood fan, but have always wanted to try Connie’s Seafood. Finally, I broke away from my usual and drove down a little father down the street to check out the competition. The pros: Super fast, friendly service Yummy fried rice and fried skrimpz! Michelada — yum! Cons: No split checks on Fri-Sun. Raw Gulf oysters — ick! Don’t order. At $ 12 a dozen, they were a 1⁄3 of the size of the Gulf oysters I had at Danton’s and Eleven XI that same weekend. And so I don’t think it’s due to the season; I think it’s more about the quality and selection of their vendor. They tasted so dirty … I only had a few before I was like, «hell nah.»
