Nope. No matter what I’ve ordered at Corner Bakery(soups, salads, sandwiches, and pastries), I’ve yet to get anything that actually tasted fresh. The pastries are dry and the fruits and vegetables that are served in salads, sandwiches, or as side items are not fresh either. Definitely skip this one!

I work in the same building so I used to grab lunch Togo here pretty often. Recently it’s just been bakery goods though Bc my last pomodori chicken panini meal with soup was completely repulsive. The bread was soggy and panini was pretty empty and sloppily put together and looks like I got the bottom of the pot burnt part of the soup. It grossed me out so much I haven’t ordered an actual meal here since. However I love their bagels and desserts so those deserve the 3 stars.

Can someone help me understand why this place is not open on the weekends? 4th largest city in America and I can’t even get a bite to eat at ½ of the places downtown?!

I was so excited to visit this bakery. It’s so nice I loved the atmosphere and service was awesome. So many sweets to choose from. We were welcomed as we entered and I did not feel rushed to order. The cashier warmed our cinnamon rolls and although we had to wait for our drinks he continually gave us updates on his status. There’s plenty of room outside or on the 1st floor but just up the stairs me and my husband had an intimate talk while enjoying our sweet treats. The cinnamon roll was fresh and my caramel latte was perfection. I wish this bakery was near me in Florida. Love Love Loved it!!!

The Corner Bakery Downtown is a fantastic place to go for breakfast/lunch. They seem to have everything running like a perfectly oiled machine. The staff is very helpful and friendly — the managers are running around all over the place constantly asking if you are being helped. If you are grabbing and going on the run, they are very quick to get your order ready. For dining in, the place is very spacious with ample seating and an upstairs floor for more privacy. As for food options, they have the calorie counts listed on the menu which is perfect if you are looking to watch your figure, or just don’t want to unknowingly eat 1000 calories. My favorite is the power flats which come with egg and avocado rolled up into a pita-like bread. For under 400 calories, you really can’t beat that. My only reason why I didn’t give this place a five star is due to the fact that they have such a pretty patio; but, being downtown, you really can’t enjoy it with all the pigeons looming over you and the occasional homeless person asking for money.

Well I’m bumping my review down a star because the employee who took my order was not following proper food handling rules… Either that or touching a bagel with your hands AND employee card is legal. Come on, just grab a pastry tissue and pick up the bagel. I’m not necessarily a germaphobe, but that’s not ok by any standard… including health code laws.

I have never been disappointed. To me one is as good as the other. This particular location, I was a regular when I worked downtown. Typically, I went there for breakfast from time to time. The food was good. Pricier than other establishments for an early meal, but again it was tasty. Should you see a Corner Bakery and you happen to be a bit on the hungry side, it is worth it to give it a go. The menu is decent. It is a chain and my experience has been consistent fare. My ordering experience was soured by the cashier who took my order, «Danny G», was extremely rude and did not offer solutions. I order a breakfast plate during the lunch hour and one of the two side choices was not available; I did not want the side of fruit. It would have been kind to offer solutions to the issue instead of treating me as a nescience. I will not be frequenting that location in the future.

They are basically a Panera Bread knock off, same menu and everything. I enjoy it though, kids love the food though it’s not diet friendly.

I work near the downtown Houston location and it’s definitely one of my go-to places. You have to get there early unless you go later because the line is usually out the door if not. They have a wide variety of baked goods showcased at the order counter and you can buy whole cakes etc. We’ve had lunch catered and it’s just as good. There is a nice patio area that is covered so you can sit outside when it’s nice out. They have great food and I’m especially partial to their harvest chicken salad and baby chocolate bundt cakes!

Overpriced sandwich shop, but good for vegetarians. Black currant tea and chili are tasty. Other Unilocal reviews are right on the mark… pricey and small portions. I ordered a pretzel turkey combo with chili. The sandwich did not have much meat, but was good with the pretzel bun. The chili was very tasty with plenty of meat. Recommended. Order and pay when you walk in. CBC also has a phone app you can use to place your order. Drinks are self-serve. I had a black currant tea, which I enjoyed. $ 12 for a weak half-sandwich, cup of chili and a drink was a bit steep. Sandwich/soup combo deals are much better at nearby Jason’s Deli. I had a couple of vegetarians in my group, and they easily ordered salads and pasta without meat. Vegetarian-friendly. I may visit again in the future, but CBC is not at the top of my list.

Oh boy. Came here once, it was good; 3 ½ stars. Came back with my girlfriend for breakfast before class, never made it to class. We got sick immediately after leaving, and spent two days in bed from good poisoning :(had the regular eggs, potatoes, toast, breakfast. So my guess is eggs… It could’ve been a one time thing, I don’t know, but not taking any chances. Plenty of other breakfast places around downtown.

Some days you’re just feeling soupy. And yesterday, I was. My friend suggested we walk to the Corner Bakery, and I got a big bowl of Chicken Tortilla soup. It was bigger than my head, which was perfect! It was zesty, but not too spicy, and generally delicious. It came with a side of bread, which I didn’t really care for, and the tortilla strips were slightly stale, but still, I enjoyed it. I think the only thing that would have made it even better would have been if they’d put some sliced or diced avocados on top of the soup.

Chicken carbonara and tomato basil(once maybe twice a week) when I used to work in the area. Telephone service was great, always seem friendly and polite when I place my order. Dine-in service was also great and very fast if you’re on a 30 minute lunch break. Price wise, they’re a little pricey for my taste and such a small portion, too, but it’s delish nonetheless.

The Kirby location is much better — both in food quality and comfort. This is the first time I tried the blueberry muffins and they had absolutely no blueberries in them. I had gotten three to bring to my dad for his bday. None of them had blueberries. At $ 2 each, it was definitely a rip off. Will not be getting their pastries again.

This place is a life saver for me as an Executive Assistant. I love that I can order delivery online the night before, or even 30 mins before if I walk over to pick it up. There is a vast menu of tasty baked goods, sandwiches, salads, soups, pastas. Really something for everyone. I highly recommend heading here for lunch at 11 or 1 to avoid the peak lunch time. TIP: If you come right before they close and order a cookie — you get TWOCOOKIES, as they will be thrown out end of day anyway. This location closes at 4pm.

When I’m in the mood for a sammich while at lunch, this is one of the first places I think to go to. With that being said, I think the majority of the workers in the area think the same since this place is always so packed. Since the line is usually out the door, usually you will have time to check out the menu while you’re in line. Know what you want by the time you get to the from because sometimes they’ll look at you crazy when you’re not ready. Most of the time the employees are friendly and attentive. After you order, you may find a seat and a server will bring your order based on the number they give you at the counter. I haven’t explored the menu for anything other than their basic sandwiches but I have spotted a few good looking goodies while eating.

For anyone that works downtown, I think this spot should be on the«regular part of the rounds» list. It’s a big place able to accomodate the massive lunch hour crowds, with a good patio on nicer days for getting some fresh air. It is yet another of the DT — stand in line to order your food places, but they bring it to your table. You can also call in for take out and save yourself the wait. Prices for DT are very reasonable and servings are good. Here are some of my favorites: — Chicken Sausage Power Panini Thin on Whole Wheat w/Egg Whites for breakfast. Healthy, tasting and filling at only $ 3 and some change. Add fresh hash browns and ruin the healthy part for another buck. — Soup and Salad Special for Lunch: Tortilla soup and the chinese chicken salad are both winners for me. — Chicken Pomodoro Panini w/chips: Dipped in butter, loaded with chicken and a gooey, cheesy spinach — decadently rich. — Any of their pastries or cookies for a pick-me-up break: It is a real bakery — and all of the breads are made fresh daily, as well. Love the cookies. — Not to be missed the hibiscus lemonade or one of their gourmet iced teas — all which cost the same as any drink. MYBOTTOMLINE: Great, affordable spot for the Downtown worker for breakfast, lunch or to meet up with someone for a catch-up with freshly prepared, good food.

Food is definitely average — but considering breakfast options that are available in the downtown, it’s not a bad experience. Service is relatively quick so if you are strapped for time(food came up for me in 10 minutes). Toast was a little burned but the avocado scramble made up for it. To top it off, they have some premium soda from the fountain. I know, oxymoron much eh?
