Free at last… we’re FREE at last! My daughter was a patient of Dr. Dickens from May 2013 until January 2014, after the last final visit in January, I knew we weren’t in good hands and it was time to make the leap. We immediately got on the waiting list to see Dr. Kristin Dillard at Texas Children’s Campus West. If you want the best pediatric allergist in town, she is 110% worth the wait.(Honestly, if we move from Houston, I will likely continue to fly my daughter back for appointments, she’s the best.) If you have a child, save yourself the stress and torture of going to Dr. Dickens. She is not good with children and pushes way too many pharmaceuticals, which seems irresponsible, IMO.(We always left with a list of 10 or so drugs and ointments that we were supposed to be using regularly, which doesn’t sit well with me.) FWIW, I looked up her records on and she was paid $ 60,000 for speaking engagements by Merck between 2009-11, which explains why she makes it rain pills every time you leave. I’ll spare the long list of complaints I had under Dr. Dickens care, but the cliff notes version is that she is a complete fear mongerer. We were unnecessarily told to forgo all dairy, eggs and nuts without good reason, mostly because Dr. Dickens is incapable of understanding safe cutoff levels on RAST tests. For the 4 months we abided by these rules, my daughter’s weight dropped to the 1st percentile. Fast forward to Dr. Dillard, we have now reintroduced the eggs and milk and are working on getting her weight back up. Dr. Dickens lacks any sort of bedside manner, she won’t explain results or why she’s prescribing a particular drug. She just expects you to blindly follow what she says. Do yourself and your children a favor and find a different doctor. *Note: The only reason I’m giving her two stars is that she did help get my daughter’s eczema under control by recommending certain soaps and lotions to use. That’s my only positive takeaway.

I went to her office in Asthmatic distress without an appointment. Her office staff fit me in to see the doctor. The staff is well trained and very helpful with a friendly attitude. When the Doctor walked in she was very friendly and concerned with my condition. I was given a breathing treatment and once again seen by the doctor. She was very helpful with my issues and set me up with a great routine that is helping me. The office is very nice with a lot of paintings on the walls to make one feel at home.
