CLOSED! Been getting Edomae for a couple years, and as of today, phone was shut off, so I went and a CLOSED sign was on the door. Was an excellent restaurant beforehand, sad to see it go.

The happy hour prices don’t match the one posted online! I was trying to decide between Edomae, Kaneyama, Miyako, and Ra. Seeing that they had 1.25/pc and standard rolls for 3.50, I thought«Wow what deal! This beats the rest of the places on my list» and decided to give it a shot. My reality check? 1.75/pc and rolls were 4.50. For this price, I’d totally rather go to Kaneyama and catch their happy hour. There were probably 3 servers on a Friday night. It’s not a big place, but I had to wait quiteeeeeeee a while to order dessert and then another while to ask for the bill. 50 bucks(grat included) for 2(we have big appetites)? No thanks. I will give them some credit though. Sushi tasted really good but not exceptionally good for this price. This quality = Oishii. BUTTT I definitely love their lunch specials. 20=25 bucks for two and we were VERY full.

3.5. I really like this place because it’s so close to my house. Service is alright, but sometimes I feel like one of the waitresses don’t seem to know what they’re talking about? Some serve very well, though. I don’t think the sushi is really worth the price, but I’m in love with their Kazan roll, so that’s mainly the reason I keep going back. I first started coming here last year, and the Kazan roll used to be really big, but lately it seems like they’ve been skimping out on the ingredients, making the roll pieces smaller. :( The inside is really nice, too. Very elegant and intimate. And they have couches too! Which I’ve always wanted to sit on… but I think those may be just for show? Overall, this place is decent; service, price, and food-wise. It’s not the best, but it’s still good enough for me to keep coming back for more.

I hate giving negative feedback but. it can’t be helped with Edomae. Been there. two or three times? My best friend loves this place, and I just can’t understand how. Service: They seem a little. slow. Maybe in a sort of daze? Not exactly sure how to explain it. Anyway, they were not to be seen after the food came out. My water got low and I ended up drinking from my boyfriend’s glass. I had asked for a side of spicy mayo, never got it. And they rarely, if ever, come to check on you. Food: Honestly. one of the worst sushi places I know. The Edamame wasn’t cooked well, and there was no salt on it, at all. It was heart breaking. I love salt :(I even asked for the salt shaker and it never came. The Spider Roll I ordered tasted bland, without flavor. The Baked Mussels left a nasty aftertaste in my mouth, the cheese on top didn’t even compare to some other places I’ve had them. The others rolls we ordered just seemed thrown together, without delicate touch. Location: Off of Westheimer, so it’s convenient for me, which is ironic because I don’t think I’ll be going back. At least the inside looks nice. They’re happy hour menu is miniscule, disappointing. Everything about this place is disappointing. Except the pineapple juice drink, which I’m sure is from the H-E-B down the street.

One star is being generous! Problem 1) Price listed in website is much less than actual menu price. Everything including happy hour is more than listed online. Problem 2) Restaurant refuses to honor mobile groupon, must show them a printed copy instead. Worst part is that the food is not even good! Had better sushi at a grocery store! Plus the portions are small. My overall feel of the place is that they are trying to rip you off! I’ve never giving a negative review but I had to warn others of this shady place!

This was one of the first places I got take out from when I first moved here. When I arrived to pick up the sushi I was impressed with the place inside. Kinda nice for OTL :) Was happy when I arrived home with my tasty sushi. Brought my boyfriend back for Sunday happy hour(all day). Had lots of sushi and martinis on the hh menu. Good quality and good deal for happy hour. Groupon just had a deal on this place to, so bought that! Hope my third times just as good :)

I’ve been to this place several times, and what brings me back is the food and the prices. They have happy hour all day on Sundays. My favorite menu items are the tuna tartar and the beef tataki. Neither on the happy hour menu, but both totally worth the price.($ 10) Service wise, it is in the middle. This past Sunday our server was Kyu and he was not very good. It took him about 5 – 10 minutes to greet our table. When he returned with the drinks, we were ready to order, but he told us that –he could not take the order.- I was shocked. The bar service is great. Nice, friendly people. Fairly prompt with delivering food and drinks. I’ll still be back.

Not a huge fan of the rolls here, but two rolls(Shaggy and Krunkky) were decent. Shaggy: can’t go wrong with this one. if you mess up a shaggy at a sushi restaurant, you’ve got issues! We tried several other rolls, one of which just tasted like a stick of butter wrapped with rice/seaweed. Service and décor were great, but I don’t think i will be coming back here again.

Been a while since I’ve been back, but I finally made a trip on Sunday night. However I was disappointed that the quality of the fish here wasn’t as fresh as I remembered it. Other than that I still think the sushi’s pretty good and their happy hour menu is awesome. Just had to knock it down a star since the fish wasn’t as fresh as I remembered it to be.

I really like the décor and ambiance in here. I could totally have a dinner party here of some sort and the setting would be perfect. It’s kind of hidden in the Westchase area, so I doubt it gets super packed on busy nights. The bf and I went here for happy hour sushi and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the sushi. It was $ 1.25 for each piece of sushi and about $ 3.50-$ 4.50 for specialty rolls. We had the salmon, yellow tail, escolar, white tuna, tiger eye roll, and spicy yellow tail roll. We had the chicken katsu(the dipping sauce tasted weird to me and I ended up dipping it in soy sauce) and edamame(they were sooo tender you prolly could have just eaten the whole thing without popping the seeds out) for appetizers. I also went here once before for lunch and their bento boxes are a great deal! Most of them are less than $ 10! So, if you’re ever in the Westchase area, try this place out for lunch, which is served daily until 3pm or check out happy hour from 4pm-7pm Mon-Fri, 8pm-close on Sat, and all day on Sunday!

My friend had her baby’s birthday party here, so it was a pre-set meal for a large group. We must’ve had 7 courses brought out to each table, all very good! It started out with an interesting and unique asian salad(reminiscent of kimchi to me). I really liked the mussel appetizer — it was also prepared in a unique way, and the flavors just went really well together. Of course there was a sushi platter, and even some korean bulgogi and a chinese veggie dish. The udon soup was really good, and had lots of shitake mushroom flavor infused into the broth. All the courses were good. The service was friendly, fast, and attentive. even for a large party.

SUPERDEELISH! I went here during lunch because I was craving sushi and what a gem this place is! The bento boxes are well worth it and the quality of the food is spectacular. The sushi was equally as delicious and I was thoroughly pleased with my meal. Not to mention, the decoration is very swank and seems like a great place to go in the evening with friends for some sake. The service was great and not to mention everything was well prepared and the portion was more than enough. In the midst of endless sushi places on Westheimer, this place is definitely worth a try. You will not be disappointed!

For this pricing, you would think the sushi would be good. But it’s not. It’s just ‘okay’ I perhaps. However, the happy hour special is really good here. If you end up here, I would recommend the Tiger Eye and the Fuuma. As starters, the Fried Shrimp & Crab Puffs aren’t too bad. The only kick-ass thing about this restaurant is Tempura IceCream for dessert. Also, the restaurant is really pretty! Classy :)

Edomae. What to say? Where to begin? I found this place with a co-worker of mine, on a quest for sushi around the office, good sushi and we found this place. It is GREAT for lunch! Bento boxes here are a lil different from what you’ve tried elsewhere;(there’s no box.) Prices are great and the food is good. I read on earlier reviews that the«SHAGGYDOG» roll was pretty good so I actually tried it today. Damn good! To boot, I also tried the banana tempura for dessert which was a very good compliment to the roll I just enjoyed. Go there, if you’re in the area, it looks like it’d be great for a Happy Hour as well, nice interior and great bar and atmosphere. Enjoy!

My sis and cousins had their prom dinner here and I was invited to join in on the sushi goodness. We were so impressed that we brought our family in the very next day for Mother’s Day! 1. The waitstaff was AWESOME. They were very attentive, polite, got our orders down accurately, and brought out our food in a timely manner. 2. Very sleek décor and varied types of seating. 3. For being on the creepy-ish part of Westheimer, Edomae had fresh and good-tasting fish. Standing alone, it’s not the best and freshest fish I’ve ever tasted but it was definitely good. But if you take price into account, I think you get better quality than what you pay for… which is never a bad thing :) 4. They have a fairly wide selection of non-sushi entrees for those picky eaters in your group — you know who you are! 5. They have a wide list of specialty rolls as well as the standard sushi and sashimi. The things I remember about the food: –Spicy Girl Roll is fairly spicy — a 6.5÷7 out of 10(I have a decent spice tolerance. To help you gauge it — I love the flavor of habaneros but can’t bear their heat at all.) But overall, this roll was alright. I didn’t feel the urge to order it again the second time we came here but you might like it better if you like a more peppery, dark, masculine taste in your rolls… hopefully people know what I’m talking about when I describe sushi rolls as «masculine?» –Asoko Roll was AWESOME. It’s not the traditional cold sushi dish –it’s baked– but it was very tasty. We got it both times we came. –Crab puffs were really good. I normally don’t like crab puffs b/c many people making them too sweet/creamy, but Edomae got the right amount of sweet/creamy in these tasty little things! –Salmon, Tuna, and Sea Bass sushi were very fresh and tasty. Presentation could have been better but the taste is what matters most, right? –Tempura Ice Cream: DOIT. They have Happy Hour Monday — Friday(4 – 7PM) and Happy Hour all day on Saturday and Sunday. The website says Happy Hour is 8 PM-Close on Saturdays but when I went there in May, it was all day both Sat and Sun. Overall, this place left a great impression on me. Can’t wait to go back when my next sushi craving hits!

I’ve eaten here a handful of times and each time I’ve left pretty disappointed but this is the only sushi place really that is b/t my friend and me. Love the atmosphere/décor. Good service for the most part, but the sushi just not good. Today I ordered the 7 piece sushi with 8 pieces of the Phoenix roll. My sushi looked so bland. It was not gleaming. It looked dry and unfresh. $ 13 for blah. The phoenix roll was so tiny and they drenched it with too much mayo. I really wish to like it here since they have a good happy hour menu but it’s just not worth it to me. I don’t like their baked mussels either. It has chunks of green onion in there.

Shaggy Dog!!! This place is awesome! I think part of the idea of keeping great places like this open, is to frequent the business and share the news! If it doesn’t get supported… well we lose out on a great place to eat! The wait staff is friendly and very good. I NEVER had a dish there i did not like. Lots of interesting rolls and the portions are some of the largest i’ve seen. The Happy hour is awesome and a great deal! Check it out, fall in love, then support it!

Wow. Fish ISFRESH!!! I love the Mackerel. Though cut differently then what I’ve normally seen… it’s probably what gives it a bit of an edge. This place is hands down fantabulous!

I have been to Edomae a number of times now and I will keep going back, well, when I am in Houston again that is. Great drinks specials, beautiful decorations and most importantly, great sushi! I am not giving it 5 stars for the simple fact that the sushi is not the best I have ever had, but it is by FAR, the best sushi on the West side. The only down side is that this place is always empty. If they don’t step up advertising, they may go out of business.
