I’ve driven by this market so many times and finally decided to stop in today and so glad I did! For the breakfast tacos you can pick your tortillas(fresh flour, corn, or this fried looking tortilla), rice, beans, and filling(eggs with ham, eggs with chorizo, chicken, etc). We had one eggs with ham and one chicken — both were very flavorful and generous portions. Will def come back! They also sell some fresh produce, meats, and packaged goods.

Great breakfast and lunch spot. I order a full sheet pan of bacon and eggs and a funn sheet pan of sausage and potatoes once a month for my guys for their safety meeting. I also get a huge thing of refried beans and 40 corn and 40 flour tortillas. Total is about $ 60 and it feeds 25 guys no problem. My men love making their own breakfast tacos and their green sauce is legit. For lunch I will go on my own and get a half pound of fajitas with grilled onions for about $ 8. This easily costs double in the restaurant next door and takes about 5 times longer. Unless there is a huge line I am usually in and out in under 10 minutes with my food to go. Please note, all the foods are different than what you get inside the El Tiempo restaurant next door. They are probably not the same high quality but they are very good. The fajitas have the typical red colored seasoning like most meat markets have and are just as good as the other meat markets. I always pass but they have some of the best tortillas made right in front of you when you order. Get the corn, you won’t be disappointed.

One little known option here that is the torta. It’s twice the price of a taco, but it comes with lettuce, tomatoes, bean spread, and avocados. It’s also twice the meat.

I’m already a huge fan of the restaurants, but decided to give the market a try as well. I am so very glad that I did. This is a neighborhood mercado. Fresh produce, seasonings, a meat counter and you can order prepared foods to go. I bought all of the fixings for fajitas, including 2 pounds of the seasoned beef. I knew it was ambitious, but the lady(preparing foods) was kind enough to give me some pointers. Let me tell you, my beef fajitas were nothing short of OUTSTANDING. Super tender and full of flavor. The truth is with the proper ingredients and QUALITYMEATS you really would have to try pretty hard to mess up. Don’t tell my kids that though. Hint: You don’t have to cook them on the grill. I cooked my fajitas on the stove top using high heat and a large oiled pan. I sliced the onion and pepper then sauteed it in olive oil in a separate pan. When the onion browns empty the contents into a large piece of foil and seal it. The contents will continue to cook and stay warm. Prepare your fixings, tortillas, etc. while the meat cooks. When the meat is done place it on a platter or cutting board for about 5 minutes before slicing. You’ll have an authentic tex-mex meal for 5 people for under $ 40.

Walk out my front door and just 30 feet. I can smell there cooking starting at 11 and they don’t stop until dinner time and beyond. Excellent margaritas and other specialized cocktails. Superb chips and salsa. Two different kinds for all the variety lovers Order any entrée and you won’t be disappointed. I promise!

Looking for a taste of Mexico? Look no further. El Tiempo Market(not to be confused w the restaurant next door) has it all. Best tacos in town. Chicken and beef fajita are delicious as always but for the more adventurous try the tripas and pig ears! This place has the feel of old Mexico with the stand up bar where you can enjoy your tacos. Don’t forget to grab a glass bottle of ice cold coke or a Mexican juice to was it all down! Perfect place to re-charge the batteries from your late night on Washington Ave. MUSTEXPERIENCEELTIEMPOMARKET!!!

Mmm fajitas. I’ve been a fan of El Tiempo restaurant for years but never visited their market until yesterday. As stated in previous reviews, there’s counter service with cooked meats and tortillas, and they also have a meat market where they offer a variety of options. I honestly couldn’t tell you what all the options are, but I know they have fajita meat. We got that with their homemade tortillas from their counter service to make at home. A pound of fajita meat ended up costing the same as a quarter pound in the restarant. And it was, of course, so good. They also sell grocery store items, like packaged tortillas and chips, salsa, spices, etc. They have a small produce section that has everything you need to make the perfect fajita. I will obviously be returning to the restaurant, but this is a nice alternative when you feel like cooking delicious tex-mex but don’t want a pricey night out. Love it!

This is a great little market right off Washington near El Tiempo. They have a counter for lunch service, and also a little produce section and butcher section. I’ve only ordered tamales to go for a party. I ordered from here because they were only $ 7.50/dozen! Other restaurants I called wanted $ 10/dozen or more! We got four dozen, half chicken and half pork. We ordered a quart of salsa, but the tamales came with a quart as well… the salsa is spicy, but I loved it! The tamales were perfect. We will definitely be ordering tamales from here again, and coming back for some of their other offerings!

My favorite breakfast tacos in Houston. Winner definitely goes to the barbacoa, it is amazing here. Perfect big flour tortillas and delicious green salsa. When I’m feeling sick I go for the calditos. Fajita meat is another success and they chop it right there for you. Also pretty awesome that you can grab other groceries here. I always get some Cinnamon /canela coffee to compliment my barbacoa taco. Love this place!

So who doesn’t love El Tiempo? But who hates their prices? Yes El Tiempo is probably my favorite tex mex restaurant in town but gosh their prices are through the roof. So if you want the same quality and flavor why not just come to the market instead? It’s not a fancy sit down kind of joint, but you can walk up to the counter, and order a huge barrage of tacos for very affordable prices. My favorite was the barbacoa. I usually get some pork rinds too!

Great local market, sometimes you can feel a little intimidated being the only one who speaks English. You can’t go wrong with any of their seasoned meat for fajitas or any of their fully cooked foods.

Every city has a taco shop they are known for: Houston should be known for this one! This small market carries mostly ingredients to make Mexican dishes(mole, menudo, chiles rellenos. etc). Obviously I go for the meat-generously-stacked-high tacos. One taco here is the equivalent to two. You also get the option to add beans and rice to each taco. The flavor is what this place is all about! From the taste of these tacos, I know most of these wonderful cooks here have been making these recipes for years. Family tradition consists of passing down taste: so feel honored to know that you are probably enjoying decade old recipes. My top 5 tacos from El Tiempo: –Carnitas(braised pork meat) –Molé poblano(chicken in chocolate-tinged red sauce) –fajita –cueritos(very tender pork skins) –oreja de puerco(pork ears) If you love pork, you will love this place. Tacos are around $ 2 and, believe me, they are generously served! Pastries like pan dulce or pastel de tres leches is available if you still have room left for them.

I have lived in this area for about 8 months now and I would pass El Tiempo Market and think«I need to check this little place out». Well the weekend after Christmas I walked 4 miles with a firend along the Allen Parkway trails(which is beautiful). and I couldn’t wait to finish so I can go check out El Tiempo Market. Don’t know why I became abnormally obsessed with a place I have never gone to, but as soon as I finished my walk with Daddy Long Legs I was on a mission. I was starving and actually ordered two fajitas, one chicken and one barbacoa. Yes… my eyes were clearly bigger than my stomach and I did not realize how much meat they put on one taco. What was I supposed to do with all this food? I called my daughter to see if she wanted to join me, but she was doing the no carb thing that day. SCOOPOUTTHEINSIDESANDENJOY! So basically I had 4 monster tacos. Considering that I had not had anything to eat that day I was actually able to work my way through two of them throughout the day, The other two were made into my work breakfast tacos for the next 4 days. I actually have to scale back from this place because it is a bit addictive and too close to home. Plus, they open at 5 a.m. So i found myselft stopping by on the way to work. That’s not the most sane thing for me to do. I try to keep it to one day a month. That’s works for me.

This is my go-to place for take away tacos. There are a ton of options in the area and this has won in my book. Their fajita tacos with grilled onions are the best in town. They are not greasy, and the fajita meat is not chopped up until you order the taco. You can’t go wrong here. Sometimes they have cooked pig’s ears. I take these home to my dogs. They give them«4 paws-up!»(By 4 paws up I mean they really liked them, like 2 thumbs up, not 4 paws-up like the ears killed them and now their legs are sticking straight up in the air). They have most of the Mexican-made sodas made with real sugar in the big glass bottles. I love these. Surprisingly enough they never have Jarritos when I go there. I am not sure if they run out or they just do not stock them. It’s a mystery. I may never know unless my Spanish get a lot better. When I say«Jarritos?» to the staff they usually look around in the cooler before telling me «No.» This leads me to believe at one point there were Jarritos in the cooler, how long ago I do not know. Jarritos or not, I love the tacos here, and I will definitely be back.

YUM! When I am in the mood for really good tacos on the cheap this is it! The meat is so well seasoned and the tortillas melt in your mouth. I have bought some produce from the market side at it was not that great and had to be tossed within a few days of purchase. The meat counter intrigues me but I am still a little leery of purchasing. The staff is always friendly.

Yes, to the following: — relatively clean — organized — meat counter — produce mostly fresh — Mexican sodas and aguas frescas — friendly cashier guy But it is also: — small — food didn’t look fresh — chicharrones have no meat — shady and dump-looking I really cannot find a reason to come by here at all. Except maybe to buy some tajín to put on fruits like oranges — the Mexican way.

El Tiempo Market is the perfect balance of what you get from a dine-in Tex Mex joint and a taco truck. But if you’re a fan of El Tiempo of 1308 — not so fast, you *may* not be a big fan of The Market. Food served here is a bit more authentic(read: spicy, a tad more grease and offers various cuts of meats other than fajita). I, for one, enjoyed the grub. You walk in, take a detour to the right and order straight from the piping hot display of food. Carnitas like fajita, barbacoa, bistec, carne gisada are offered, fresh veggies, refried beans, aroz, caldo de rez, tortas and mo’ is on the menu. Enjoy your food at one of the highboys or take it to go. Like Alexander mentioned, there was a lot of meat on that taco. Methinks one is enough for the average Joe. Dining here is a trade off. It’s cheaper than it’s big bro El Tiempo, though you’re not treated to baskets and baskets of crispy tortilla chips and amazing green salsa. Tough call. You can also do some grocery shopping for tortillas, pan dulce, fruits ‘n’ veggies and other bodega-type items. I noticed the produce prices are higher than that of other Mexican markets … and even Fiesta. I’ll save that shopping for La Michoacana. I’ll be back for breakfast though. I want to check out their barbacoa on a Saturday morning when it’s hot and fresh.
