The service is wonderful. You are never waiting because someone will refill your drinks, get your food, or take your payment. Plus the food was excellent! I had soft chicken tacos and table side guac. I will be returning!

The chimichanga was very good. I ordered chili replenish and liked it as well. The service was great, it was especially busy and our food came out quickly.

This escalantes was a title bit less modern than the other locations in Houston. The restrooms were quite small and seemed a little out dated. My dad found the fajitas a little mediocre. My spinach enchiladas was very delicious. I liked the spicy tomato sauce they included on top. I tried a house margarita which was delicious. The only reason I went to escalantes was because there is not one in Memphis TN. However I hope they build one soon.

Escalante’s … Hmmm, I’m not the biggest fan of this places food. Everything that I have tried food wise is just not worth paying the price for what I’m eating. The fajita’s to me are not anything fantastic and their queso fundito is like semi melted cheese it’s weird. But they win on their appetizers. But here’s why I keep coming back. 1) Their Sangria is top-notch, I love sangria, all kinds of it and theirs was a really good find that I’m happy to go sit at a bar and drink with some appetizers. 2) Their Quesadillas are not half bad. I’ve gotten chicken and spinach before and they were pretty satisfying. 3) and get ready for this… Their seafood nachos! Yes, that is right. They are absolutely amazing and out of this world. For lunch I’ll come here and split the full portion with a friend. Or if I’m coming for an evening it’s usually the same thing and a drink and then an order of their guac. Cause their guac is really good too. But that’s really it, so that is why I can only give it 3 stars. I also leave sometimes smelling like Mexican food and I know sometimes that’s inevitable but I can leave other Mexican restaurants without smelling like that… sooo.

I’m a Mexican food snob. The food at this location is incredible. Sit at the bar for impeccable service from the bar staff! Everyone will learn your name for the next time you go in! Fantastic happy hours until 7pm including for food! The beef quesadillas are to die for!!!

This is my family’s new favorite restaurant… we’ve visited 4 times in the last two weeks;) The food is excellent and fresh. The service is prompt, courteous and customer driven. I especially love the creative menu items that make it a little easier to eat healthy and lite. My daughters visit for the queso Very family friendly but also nice for a date night!

Ugh… where do I begin? We were seated quickly and the staff was attentive. The table-side guacamole was good and the chips were not overly salty. The margaritas were prepared in a plastic shaker and mine was very watered down. I should have sent it back but didn’t. The menu was typical with no surprises. Samples of the daily specials were shown to the table. I think they were made at lunch time as there was a hard, crusty appearance to the offerings. The order was placed after an up-sell attempt by our waiter. Our food arrived about 5 minutes after our table of 6 ordered — not particularly encouraging. Fajitas(both chicken and beef) were okay. Tortillas were moist, salsa was watery, cheese was pre-grated and hard. Blah, blah, blah. No need to go on. Give this place a miss.

I loved this place. First time coming here and the experience was great. We came in at 8 and was halfway through our food by 830. Ordered the queso blanco and half pound of steak tenderloin fajita. Half pound is plenty for 2 – 3 people. The steak was seasoned perfectly. Better than any place I’ve been to. For drinks, we ordered a Mexican Flag which was deliciousssssss! Service was great. Waiter was helpful and attentive.

The food is always delicious. I love their salmon salad! I went here for lunch with my toddler recently and my sever was so kind. He went above and beyond to accommodate my hungry and impatient 1 year old.

This was a nice little mid-priced Mexican restaurant nestled in an reasonably upscale shopping center. There appeared to be plenty of locals eating here, including several families. I tried a mango margarita and it was okay. I didn’t really care for the plastic shaker it came in and there was definitely way too much ice and way too little mango. I had the tacos de pescado — a shrimp taco and a grilled fish taco. They were a little on the small side and came with only one corn tortilla, not the two I normally expect in seafood tacos. Although they were a bit dry, they did come with a very tasty creamy jalapeño sauce on the side. This was the key to transforming them from bleh to delightful. Service was fast and friendly. The restaurant had a nice buzz without feeling crowded or seeming too loud. Overall, I’d say this felt like an average business-class Tex Mex restaurant. I wouldn’t mind coming here again with colleagues after work, but it didn’t really wow me enough to put it on my «must do in Houston» list.

I live close to this place so have came a few times. I tried different dishes but still not found anything special or outstanding. The rice is a bit dry and flavorless. The service is ok and the price too. So if you want to tried some average Mexican food this is your place.

Well, let’s see — where do I begin? I was mad craving some good Mexican takeout and decided to splurge my lil lunch pennies and grab some fajitas from this location. I’ve usually frequented the Meyerland location with no issues. I called ahead and ordered the chicken fajita lunch special, was told it would be ready in about 15 min — ok, no problem. My office is about ten minutes down the same street, so I wrapped some things up at work and headed out. Great experience when I went to pick it up — everything was prepared and ready, ticket was given to me with everything correct, great! When i got back to my office and opened it up, however… Adiós mio!!! The chicken looked Luby’s bland!!! I mean NO color, like boiled! Thank goodness when I bit into it, there was some flavor but I’m expecting some grilling action evidence! Or do I need to order the little grill plate to go too? The ‘grilled’ onions under the chicken were just shy of caramelized and therefore just shy of what i was looking for. The refried beans tasted a bit funny — I couldn’t place it, a bit sour or canned or just ‘off’ but not to my liking at all. The pico and grated cheese on the side were amazing, however!!! So the next time I want to pay $ 16 for pico and cheese, this is SOOOO my first thought for a stop :-) Otherwise, off my list and out of my mental Rolodex for infinity times infinity squared. Plus 2.

Escalante’s is an odd bird — kind of a fancy tex-mex restaurant(in the sense that the setting is white table cloth; the servers are professional and numerous; the silverware is heavy and impressive) with non-fancy food(enchiladas, queso, etc). Shrug. I’ve figured out this place so that it works for me: Order a big bowl of queso with lots of jalepenos. Then feed virtuously on one of the excellent salads. If still hungry, a couple of churros will fix that problem right-quick. I always leave here puzzled but happy. You can too.

Ugh I don’t know why some Houstonians are obsessed with this place. It really is lackluster tex-mex food. The cheese they use in the enchiladas tastes like cheese whiz. On the plus side the salsa is nice and spicy and the desserts are good. But not a place I want to go back to… there’s got to be better in Texas.

I have been here to pick up lunch and had a crappy experience. I’ve been here for brunch & for dinner and have had better experiences… Lunch pick up– I called to place a to go order and was put on hold over 5 minutes. I hung up and called back and told the girl who answered I had been on hold & she said the bartender was busy & transferred me again, by the time anyone picked up I was parking! The bar was empty, so I don’t know why the bartender was not answering the phone to take orders, or why the hostess who answers the phone could not tell if the bartender was tied up. I put in my order and was told it’d be 20 – 25 minutes. I went window shopping at the clothing stores there, and came to get the food after 30 minutes. It still wasn’t ready! I had to wait another 10 minutes before my order came out. I sat at the bar while I waited and was not offered water or anything. Other than trying to get my food, everything was fine and everyone at the office was happy with their orders by the time I got back. Brunch– they were packed, we had a large group, I was not in charge of planning this brunch so I’m not sure if there were reservations or what, but when I got there they had a table ready for us. The service was good, even with the large group of people. The only complaint anyone had was the parking– some of us parked across Woodway near the Whole Foods. Luckily we could see the cars from the window to see if there was a tow truck around. The parking was just horrible, between La Madeline, Second Baptist, and Café Express, be prepared to have parking issues during Sunday brunch. Dinner– I met two friends for dinner on a Thursday night at 5:30pm. The place was dead. Plenty of parking, great service. The food came out super fast, it seemed like we had just ordered and then 5 minutes later we were being served. The drinks came out fast as well. The waiter was really nice, offered advice for ordering margaritas, and asked how we wanted the check split before bringing it out. By the time we left it was much busier.

The nicest thing I can say about this place is that I’ve never had bad service and the table side guacamole is fantastic. Otherwise, it’s just another mediocre TexMex restaurant with slightly inflated prices. If you’re in the neighborhood, this place is about as good as you’ll get, but there are better and less expensive TexMex restaurants in town. The parking is a bit tough during lunch and dinner peak hours, but if you choose an off-peak dining time, you’ll have better luck with parking and seating. DONOT even bother with Sundays between 11am-2pm, due to the high traffic on the roads and in the restaurant from the Second Baptist Church crowd. Inside is a typically loud crowd of diners and a very southwest/Mexican themed décor with lots of brightly decorated tiles and Mexican art hanging from the walls. If a party is what you want, then you’ve found it at Escalantes. The hostesses are young, and most of the time sweet, but most are clueless, so you will have to be direct with them if you want a specific seating area. The staff are conditioned to turn over tables quickly, so be prepared for an overly eager waiter that will constantly bother you throughout your meal. Like most Americanized restaurants, Escalantes is no exception to the rule when it comes to the«turn and burn» attitude of waiting tables. Just be prepared to be firm with your waiter so that they understand if you’re not in a hurry to eat and leave. The food is very ok. It’s acceptable, but nothing to rave about. The margaritas are the same. However, there are a lot of flavored margaritas that are«off menu,» so make sure to check with your bartender or waiter for varied flavor selections. The happy hour menu and pricing are a great value for those looking for a more affordable dining and drinking experience. Overall, I find Escalantes to be a decent selection for this area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here unless I’m coming for happy hour. The outdoor seating area is nice as long as the weather is decent and the oxygen isn’t being choked off by smokers.

Escalantes is a weekly destination for me and my family. The food is phenomenal, the prices are good and the service is fast. Can’t beat this place for some great Tex-Mex. Also — their queso is PHENOMENAL. I’ve never had anything quite as good.

Escalante’s as a whole — their food is good but nothing to go out of your way for. Now, I like this location for the service and staff over the City Centre location. The staff at the Woodway location is just fantastic. They’re always extremely friendly and inviting. If you’re looking for a Mexican restaurant with extraordinary stuff and good service I definitely recommend this location over any others in the area.

This is not cheap TexMex. It is delicious TexMex. It is high quality TexMex. It is my favorite TexMex, I do believe. Always a nice place to go I wish I lived closer. Oh well. This place has a great menu of TexMex favorites. They also have a few of their own specialties. I have never had a bad meal here. Their service can be a little discombobulated, but nothing so bad that I would snark about it. Highlights for me are the queso and botanas mixtas. Do not balk over the price of the queso. It is wonderful. Botanas mixtas are enough to be a light meal for two. Love them.
