The bar was interesting I’ll give it that. I went in January on my birthday and it was cold outside. I didnt have to wait in line thank God but I bet if I didn’t go with someone, I’d be waiting in line. The dress code was enforced… until late and then the Jersey Shore losers came in. The music is great and has a variety. Only bad thing was that it’s small. One night(and the last since I’m from San Antonio) the DJ got so drunk, he started asking girls to show their asses and I picked up one girl’s panties on the floor cuz my friend lost her phone and I thought I found it *barf* The drinks were $$$ mostly because they serve minors and there’s no cover. Would I go again? Maybe, depending if the next time I go to Houston I’m not 21 yet. 3 stars because I had a fun night December 2011 *** Update: January 2013 ** I went back and it’s pretty much the same except they didn’t let me in because I had«tennis shoes» and I was dressed real nice with a button down and a sweater. Which is actually a LOT better than the time I went last year or so. I also wasn’t the other one too. Everyone being denied were dressed nicely and they had a good guy to girl ratio too. But this is where I got pissed off, two SWAG guys came next in line and they were wearing sagging jeans, over sized jerseys, high tops, and hats walked up to the bouncer and he told them they couldn’t get in and they showed him some sort of ticket and he let them in. And the same happened again like in less than 5 minutes. I would have given a 1 star but I had too much fun the first time I went.

It’s nice and fun I was able to drink it’s just always too crowded nowhere to sit. and it’s annoying and people bumping into you and you have to pay for parking although I didn’t lmfao but that’s because I told him I didn’t have changed seems to work everytime haha its cool and all just wish it was bigger it’s kinda annoying how small it is and the young crowd sometimes gets on my nerves

Escobar has been around long enough that it is a useful way to explain how douchey other places will be. «Oh, that place is like a full Escobar» means it is located in a strip mall and blares Steve Aoki for drunken assholes who love saying«epic».

I gave this place three stars it an ok place but these are the some reasons i thought it was just ok. 1 the parking not enough of it and the valet parking is $ 25 reason 2 the drinks are super pricey i paid $ 7 for a budlight. i will go back again but they are going to have some drink sepcials. they do how ever have an outside area to chill its not as loud as some spots when u go outside. ill give this place another chance.

Horrible place. DJs talked over music along with some guy from NY that has no clue about Houston’s club scene or tastes in music. Drinks are expensive and they serve underage.

Just realized I never submitted this review from a couple years ago. Racist doorman. Didn’t let anyone in who wasn’t «escorted» by a white person. My first time in Houston and this made a horrible impression. In no rush to return.

Infinity negative stars. This place serves underage and serves them too much. Escobar, you need to I.D. And make sure it’s real before you serve anyone.

Went to Escobar a couple of times, VERY packed, especially if you arrive fashionably late, like me. They play alright music, rap & house mixed. Like someone mentioned before, it’s not the classiest place in Houston! I will agree once again, the mens room door needs to shut, but I understand why they keep it open. Always a fight going on at the beginning of the night, or the end. I like the set up though. I’m not sure of the prices, women never pay for drinks ;) haha. JK.

When you’re driving by this place on Travis, it’s on the right side on the corner next to some sandwich place. You may or may not see a line, but don’t assume there’s no one in there. It says«Suite A» on the sign, and you can’t necessarily tell it’s Escobar until you walk up to it. DON’T pay for the parking that’s before the actual place because there’s plenty of free parking along the street. Getting in wasn’t a problem. It was free for both guys and girls the night I went. You can pretty much find flyers about the place for cover. was where I got my info at. Walk up to the bouncer, show your ID and get your wristband on and you’re in. Yes, the place is pretty small, but it’s definitely a good place to go to. It’s really nice looking inside and if you get there before midnight, you can actually see the dance floor, lol. Otherwise, you’ll just have to walk through the crowd of people to get from one side to the other. The mix of people is great, it’s not just one nationality more than the next. There are two speaker boxes you can dance on in front of the raised«VIP» section, but there’s mostly a lot of girls in short dresses freak dancing each other if you’re into that. Otherwise, there’s more than enough«good» girls on the dance floor who aren’t. Great mix of guys and girls of all types, dancers, non-dancers, grinders, sluts in short dresses, girls you can’t talk game to in short dresses, girls in jeans and girls you would approach because they look like they’d be nice to you without the alcohol… the guys are a good mix too. The music is awesome(hip hop mostly, and some of the older songs to do work with-genuwine kinda thing), but it was always something to be able to move to. The atmosphere is great, it didn’t feel like it got too hott, but there were a lot of people in such a small place. This is definitely a place to go to with friends or just to meet people a few times. I went on a Friday night and it didn’t disappoint.

Went for Wednesday night dubstep… it’s great that there’s a free bass music weekly in Houston. And I got a free drink for no good reason. The venue has a glitzy appeal, though the dance floor is a bit tiny. There were some young kids and some older heads — decently mixed crowd. But something seemed to be lacking when I went in — everything seemed kind of quiet… I asked the bartender and: «Sorry we can’t turn the sound up, the neighbors complain» This place is in a strip mall and across the street is a big apartment/condo complex… bummer. I was going to stay til the end but left about 15 minutes early, while a fight was breaking out. Sigh

I’ve had a long and arguably sordid history with this establishment. The first time I went, about four or five years ago, my then girlfriend had me thrown out… three times. Now such an occurrence may discourage most self-respecting men from returning, but I was not really thinking very clearly that night and figured«well, they kept letting me back in, so it can’t be all that bad». I’m glad I did, cause once you get to know the staff, it is definitely one of the places I ALWAYS bring my friends. The first person most people will encounter when they get to Esco is Dustin, the door guy. I used to think he was the biggest prick on earth, and he pretty much is… until you get to know him. He is actually a great guy so don’t give him shit. Make sure you take care of him and he will return the favor. I mean, just use your brain. If you roll up there in a moderately modified Civic with three of your homeboys and one broke ass looking girl, chances are you are not going to get in, but that is pretty much everywhere. Believe me, I know. Once you get past this first barrier, you have to fight your way past the throngs of Affliction and Ed Hardy wearing douchebags and Houston’s famous collection of $ 30K Millionaires to get to the bar. If you happen to be one of these aforementioned $ 30K Millis, I would recommend you put a little more debt on your Capital One card with the shirtless picture you took of yourself and buy a bottle. It makes life a lot easier. The VIP section is a great vantage point for watching the lesser humans disgrace themselves on the dance floor. The dance floor is a great vantage point to look up the dresses of the VIP douchebags’s girlfriends dancing on the speakers. The outside area is a great place to socialize and smoke cigarettes. Here you will occasionally find such local celebrities like the girl who dated Steve Francis’ cousin and, of course, me. All in all, a great and fun place if you have a good sense of humor and can look past its faults. If you are served by Briana or Chelsea, treat them well, they are good friends, and take care of my boy Brady as well. You can treat Salim as you please. Just kidding mate. Enjoy.

I went last night to escobar to catch a member of Le Tigre work some magic in the booth and man did he. Didn’t get busy till about midnight then it started fillin up. Not bad for a thursday night, lots of young people, met some 19 – 24 year olds then there were a few random older folk. But everyone seemed about drunk by about 1 and everyone loved everyone so it was fun! Most of the music played was house, I’m more of a hip-hop girl when it comes to dancing but it was still fun. I also noticed alot of gay people [not hating, have tons of gay best friends] but it may have been because JD Samson was there. Anyways, definately have a few drinks and maybe roll up some you know what and you’ll def. have a great time :]

Bounced right in on a Friday night, no line, no crowds. Door guy was friendly. We were pleasantly surprised to see DJ Johnny J on the decks! He kept us dancing all night long with a mix of hip hop and house. Love the new layout and interior. Sexy red velvet adorns the walls and booths. The vip area just below the dj is inviting. Good drinks and crowd. Can’t wait to go back with a group.

After looking at their website, I was excited about going to Escobar for my friend’s birthday party. I was impressed with the interior design. Entering the club was a smooth process, no issues with the bouncer. The red décor was nice, but it fell short of the elegance and luxury I was expecting. I suppose low lighting and a fogger can hinder the view. The U-shaped looked nicer than the sofas in the VIP area. This place is great for people watching; there are alot of attractive people. I like to look at club fashion trends. And it it is fun to watch others dance. Men can’t dance on top of tables, not by themselves or not with another person. Ladies, however, can dance on the table. Why does Escobar has a rule against men dancing on the table? It doesn’t make sense to me. The two star rating… The smell of urine filled the VIP area. You could actually see the urinals and men relieving themselves, from the VIP area. I tried to numb my sense of smell through champagne. It was only a temporary solution, for after the glass of champagne was finished, the smell of urine was back. For a club that tries to position itself as elite and upscale, see their website, you would think it would care about the smell. A security guard told me it was club policy for the men’s restroom door to be open. Perhaps it’s for security or convenience; regardless the solution stinks.

Esco Bar, I have to give you 5 stars because I’ve never had a bad experience while I was divulging in debauchery. The bartenders are in sync with the ‘Esco” atmosphere, which makes partying all the more enjoyable. Music on a Saturday night is an eclectic mix of good trance and hip-hop. You can find me dancing on the box on any given Saturday night with a strong drink in my hand… what happens at Esco, stays at Esco! Always a good vibe and always a good time. I can’t say enough nice things about Esco, words fail to explain the experience.

I can’t really remember much about this place. It was completely empty when I got there, but with the right people you can make anything fun. And boy did we make it fun. And before we knew it, it was packed. Drinks are extremely strong. I guess that’s enough to warrant 3 stars.

Escobar has been around for 4 years now, gonna be 5. In Houston club years… thats ancient. New ownership as of January 2008 and things couldn’t be better. Yes it can be tough to get in sometimes… but let’s be honest, people wouldn’t want to go there if they just let everyone in. There is no cover, and tipping isn’t even what will get you in sometimes. It’s more about coming in with girls. I hardly ever see Dustin let a group of guys come in. Yeah… that just doesn’t happen. The music is great at escobar… it’s a mix of dance, hip-hop, house, 80s, 90s etc. Friday’s and Saturdays are the busiest nights. Not even open on Thursdays(except for private parties) and Sundays and Wednesdays are more of the industry nights. One downer of this place is that when it does get crowded… it gets annoyingly crowded. But the patio is a nice escape, if you can make it there.

Escobar is pretty sexy. I knew it was going to be a great night when the parking lot was full of Ferraris, Porsches, Astin Martins etc. Of course the bouncer wouldnt let me in because I am a guy but my friend who is a girl went in and got 2 random girls to come bring me and my buddies in. No cover but the drinks were a bit pricy, somewhere in the 10 dollar range. Very dark and loud made Escobar seem really trendy. The music mixes were phenominal and the girls were outrageous. It was packed but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Over the years, many peeps have had the same complaints about the place, namely long restroom lines and door service. Fortunately, Escobar has new owners(guys from Rich’s) and recently experienced a makeover for the better. The layout and dance concept are the same, but they’ve done away with the co-ed restrooms and restroom Nazi. They’ve added more VIP seating, changed the color scheme, extended the bar and rearranged the DJ booth, but best of all, the same door guy is there, just less dramz. It can get overcrowded and sweaty at certain points of the night, but the more you drink and dance, the less you’ll notice. Typical club mantra. Best nights are Wed and Sun(super casual). Yeah, I know. Sucks for the Mon-Fri 9-to-5ers.

Racist shitty door man. If you can get past that prick then I guess it might be alright if it wasn’t a lame night. I was told that«asians don’t tip» so i have to wait to go in with some women. Dude, I got $ 200 and I just wanna get fucked up. Shitty. I’ll take my money elsewhere thanks
