Frenchy’s oh Frenchy’s, who am I without you? My week is incomplete without a meal or two The only meal I would ask for if it was my last The only meal worth dealing with your worker’s plenty of sass From your crispy seasoned chicken to your fluffy perfect biscuit Your food is worth writing a poem for the true epitome of more is more Anyone who knows me, knows that loving fried chicken is part of who I am. I love fried chicken so much, every year I try to get fried chicken into my Christmas card. This year, I’m wearing an ugly sweater with felt fried chicken on it. The most romantic meal to me fried chicken and wine over candlelight. I love fried chicken so much… it’s effing scary. And the king of fried chicken in my heart is Frenchy’s. I’m here like clockwork every Wednesday for their $.99 leg and thigh special, biscuits, with a jalapeño pepper. I guarantee you that it’s the best fried chicken and biscuit you’ll ever have for less than $ 2.

Never heard of this place but curiosity took over me(and the drive thru was too convenient!) Fast, friendly service and they let me swap the usual fries to try the Cajun mash, sadly the wings and potatoes were lacking salt and resulted in a 5⁄10 flavor rating. I was hoping for better results but overall just mediocre.

This was my first time ever eating at Frenchy’s. I came with someone who frequents Frenchy’s but the original UH location-which is suppose to be the best. Even though I didn’t know what to expect, she did. So like the other reviews, we were disappointed with no hot sauce, no wet naps, no to-go boxes. But as far as fast food fried chicken goes, the skin was very crisp and flavorful, the meat was moist and the biscuit was good. The mashed potatoes were not good-typical boxed potato mix. I will have to try the original one. Service was good even during lunch rush hour. Surprisingly the inside dining area is clean and pleasant to eat in and they even have 2 big screen TV’s.

* Please note that Frenchy’s in general is EXCELLENT. This review is only for this particularly terrible location. * I usually go to the Frenchy’s off of Scott St. near UH campus, but I was in the Med Center and in the mood to take a nap. What’s the best food possibly on the entire planet to induce you into a blissful food coma? Frenchy’s. So I made my way here with pretty high expectations, thinking it would be like the other location. I was wrong. First, their credit/debit card machine is down. Ok, no problem, I have cash. Jambalaya is not available, alright, I get red beans and rice. The customer service itself was alright — not bad or good. The chicken itself was the saddest part of the entire experience. Firstly, terrible quality chicken. Secondly, it was so overdone that the chicken itself was extremely dry and chewy. I thought I was going to pass out from chewing so hard. Wtf, Frenchy’s. This is not the kind of food coma I was going for. I was pretty surprised it was so bad, since I got there around 11:30 and figured they would have fresh chicken for the oncoming lunch rush hour. Thirdly, I asked for three peppers, got two. Last, but not least, the other location gives you wet wipes to use after your meal since everything is so messy. They also put all the food neatly in a styrofoam box. This location gave me an open cardboard container(think the kind they serve curly fries in in a school cafeteria) inside a bag. So bizarre. ANDNOWETWIPES. Overall, pretty terrible. Will not be back again. Do yourself a favor and drive an extra mile to the original location on Scott.

I literally just left this place empty handed due to some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. My wife and I were in the area so we decided to try this place for the first time and chose to use the drive thru. Upon attempting to order the chicken strips meal, the girl inside said with an attitude that there would be a 5 minute wait. She said it in a way that seemed as if she was trying to discourage me from ordering this but it’s what we wanted so I said that I would be fine with waiting. A slight pause followed by an audible sigh of aggravation came over the speaker. There was then this awkward silence as there was nothing being said to me regarding my order which led to my wife and I deciding that, if they were aggravated with having to make the order, it was not worth the risk of what they may do to the food. At this point, I chalked this one up as a loss and told her not to worry about it. She quickly responded this time and did not seem concerned to lose a potential customer. With this type of experience for a first time visit, it is not likely that they will receive business from me in the future. Side note on their behalf: It was approximately 3pm on a Saturday afternoon which may be the cause of not having anything prepared. However, it should not be a burden to literally perform the service for which the business exists.

I ordered the 3 piece wing special with fries togo… what I got was 3 baby chick wings and bland dirty rice. Never again will I waste my time or money on this location. If I could give it half a star I would.

I refuse to eat anything else since moving to Houston… hands down best chicken. Customer Service is cool compared to 3rd ward. If they reopen their bar I think this place would be even greater

This is my first time at Frenchy’s and I’ve been dying to try it. I always get popeyes being from New Orleans and all… hehe. But I wanted to try Frenchy’s because the way they fry their chicken looks like how Boomtown Casino in New Orleans, fry theirs. So I had to try it!!! I ordered the Creole Sampler since I didn’t want to eat too much. I chose the red beans and rice, jambalaya, chicken thigh, and corn bread. The Red beans and rice was really good and I do not like to eat red beans and rice. The red beans and rice was just full of flavor! I cannot say the same for the jambalaya… It was not very good and not what I am used to. I think it is like a tomato rice type thing and I had tomato rice jambalaya before and it was good just not at Frenchy’s. The corn bread was good/okay. Now here’s the review for the fried chicken! ITWASREALLYGOOD! I wish I had more, but I’m trying to diet…=[ I LOVETHEFRIEDSKIN! It was so well seasoned and crispy! I WILLBECOMINGBACK!!! This Kirby location has okay service, I mean I went through the drive through. When they gave me my food he just repeat what I ordered and gave it to me, and never asked me if I wanted ketchup… Good thing I had some at home… But they did provide two plastic spoons… and NONAPKINS.

Asked for Lemon for Iced Tea. No Lemon Asked for Salt for Roasted Jalapeño Pepper. No Salt. Woman taking order could barely communicate. I have been loyal fan of Scott which is a long way from perfect, but this was ridiculous.

Opened, closed, re-opened. As far as I’m concerned they can close again. Ordered the 10 piece and got 10 pieces of dry, small chicken. Does the Scott St location not share it’s recipe with the other stores? Although the Scott St store pieces are also small at least they are«seasonized». Might give them another try to see if they have gotten their act together.

No hot sauce. Come on man quit being cheap. That’s like no duck sauce at a Chinese restaurant that sells eggrolls. They need to have the condiments. I’ll pay if they just wanna be cheap. Just charge for the sauce if it’s a huge expense. They would have got 5 stars if they had the hot sauce. I’m pretty sure all the other customers who were in front of me in line who were denied hot sauce feels the same as i did

A couple of years ago, Frenchys Chicken on kirby closed. A couple of months later, Louisiana Fried Chicken opened in its place. I gave Louisiana Fried Chicken a try, but was disappointed. Fast forward to today and I am delighted to see Frenchys is back!!! The chicken is almost like I remembered. Skin was crunchy, chicken was juicy and is kissed with that spice that makes their chicken special. My only concern is the size of the chicken. We ordered the 10 piece family. It comes with 2 breasts, 2 legs, 3 thighs, and 3 wings. The wings and thighs were undersized. However, they gave us a couple of extra pieces to make up for the undersized chicken. Welcome back Frenchys, I hope you stay for a while.
