The staffs are very friendly. Every time i go here i always call ta pin lu hot pot, for 3 people i guess. It is very delicious and makes me full all the time. Their other dishes are good too. Like fried tofu with onions and fried rice. Everytime i go to Bellaire i always think of Fufu café. :D They should expand more. Two stores in a row never be enough. Lol. Kids and children SHOULDNOT be here because they will get burned very easily if you don’t watch them carefully. But still, don’t take your babies here. Adults only. Lol. If you have babies with you, you’d better togo the food. Anw, i love their food especially the seafood and ta pin lu hot pot.

TLDR: Low prices for greasy MSG filled food. I went there with a group of friends because a lot of people have spoken highly about this place. The price was definitely very reasonable. We were able to order several dishes and all spend around only $ 10. The food on the other hand, wasn’t so great. Everything was drenched in oil and MSG. I poured half a container of white pepper powder into my congee and still couldn’t taste it because the MSG was so overpowering. I ended up feeling dizzy and nauseous after eating the meal because there was so much MSG in it. I’m not sure why so many people love this place. Granted, I haven’t found that many decent Chinese restaurant in Houston, this place still wouldn’t make the top of my list.

I had heard about this restaurant and decided to give it a try today, given that I had a few hours this afternoon plus I was craving for some noodles and whatever I think that may be of interest when I arrive. First impressions, the place itself appears to be somewhat casual, a lot more friendlier than the other restaurant round the corner, «Fu Fu Restaurant.» The restaurant itself seems a lot more tight fitting than some others, which you can clearly see the sorta organized frigerator with some beer, in house use containers with food, somewhat clearly marked and dated. Given that hot pot is once of the items on the menu, all of the tables come in 4 seats or more to allow the 8 inch wide hot pot to fit in the centerpiece. Given the weather that it was 100 degrees feel like temperature, no one actually was ordering hot pot today. All tables was full by the time I took the last table around 1:30pm on a Saturday, and I was kind of surprised that hot pot feature is on every table, which does take up a lot of room to not allow as many tables seated as they would liked Service was somewhat quick in terms of cleanup, although I was kind of surprised that I overheard another table had to wait an additonal 15 minutes for their last dishes to arrive. And, another table that wanted dumplings had to cancel the order after they have heard they have run out after ordered. And, the owners appear to know the regular by name, no matter what their ethnicity is, each bringing their friends to share lunch with them, not something I see on a day to day basis. Menu is huge, which must have at least 200 items on there, ranging from appetizers, Chinese dumplings and noodles, beef, chicken, seafood, soup and beverage. Most of the dishes have noodles or some kind of bread product on there, and the noodles are chewy and thick. I personally like thinner noodles, but if you are the type that like thick spaghetti or other types like the udon, you would definitely like this place. I am still much filled up from the 1:30pm lunch, and I even have enough leftover to take home with me for another meal.

Late night food go to place! Not the best service or always the cleanest bathrooms, but open super late and everything I’ve had there I love. Please fix the toilet roll holder, its been broken awhile. My favorites are the beef flat noodle, the sauce is super flavorful, and the steam buns in broth. So perfect and comforting to close out the evening.

What it do FUFU! I love this spot, fair price for lunch, me and coworker usually order 3 or 4 things and split. Orange Peel Beef and Spicy Chicken are bought everytime and then we try a new item or two. Servers are nice but you gotta have cash if you bill under 20 bux.

This place isn’t a must go. The service is lackluster, but I don’t go to lunch for service, I go for food. I will only judge it based off the dishes I have had, which is mainly limited to the orange chicken. It is bland and flavorless, nothing better than food court quality. The rice has no flare to it, and just provides extra texture. I was surprised and disappointed to know white rice could not be substituted for fried rice, not even for an up charge. There are too many outstanding restaurants in Chinatown, I think I’ll keep exploring.

Alright, I’ve had this review as a draft for a while waiting for an opportunity to give Fu Fu“s another visit, but I’ll go ahead and write another one next time. I was invited by a group of coworkers to an after work dinner and Fu Fu’s couldn’t have been a better place. It was a nice, quaint, well lit restaurant with good customer service. It was definitely a good spot for me to sit back and get to converse with my coworkers over a good amount of food. The food was very good. The general tso’s was well-seasoned and the lo mein was some of the better lo mein I’ve had in a while. I would consider the lo mein the best part of the food we ordered as a group. The dumplings we started off with are a close second however. Both the food and the environment were pleasant. I, unfortunately, was unable to take pictures. :(I hope to make a visit soon to right this wrong while also seeing what more Fu Fu’s has to offer. Hopefully you do too!

Late night Asian food. Service is pretty bad but you can’t expect much in Chinatown. A lot of food choices on the menu that is reasonably priced. Dishes are mainly family style dining so it’s great for big groups. My favorite is the walnut shrimp and mongolian beef. . So word on the street is that they are very unsantiary. google it online and you can read for yourself. I probably wont be going here unless its pretty late and I need some asian fixings.

Great little hidden hot pot place. Has the best banh bao I have ever had the pleasure of tasting! Wait staff is attentive as well as quick. We ended up over ordering because the hot pot directed it was for two people but it could’ve well fed up to four. We ended up taking the rest to go and eating it for lunch the next day. Still just as yummy as it was freshly cooked! We are most definitely coming back here.

Fu Fu café has been a very popular restaurant in Chinatown area since it’s opening. Due to long waiting lines on the weekend, I only had their food a few times. Every time I stopped by, I really like their food. This time, I came with my mom and sister for lunch. Actually, we wanted to have traditional Chinese breakfast which are served at Fu Fu café throughout the day. That was great! We started out with their soy bean soup(soy milk) and fried dough. Great flavors for both of them! We also had few more dishes and they are all really good. The portions were excellent so we even had some leftover to go. The service was really nice. Needless to mention that it is very difficult to find a good service restaurant in Chinatown. However, the waitress was very nice which was a pleasant surprise. overall, I like this place. I would recommend it to people who are new to Chinatown. Their menu has lots of pictures with English names so it’s very easy to order.

Been here with a group of friends after a performance. The food seems really bland to me and most of my friends. We ordered six dishes and they were very bland. The General Tso’s chicken also looks very unappealing. I honestly didn’t understand why some people like this place. Haven’t been here since that visit. I do give this place some credit though, their sizzling beef is pretty good though.

Good brunch place. They have good sized portions, and everything is pretty tasty. The prices aren’t the cheapest, though. I came with 3 guys, and we ordered 5 or 6 dishes, and we struggled to finish them all. There’s a TV showing sports, and the waitstaff is typical of Chinatown: pretty standoffish, which is totally fine by me. There was a little line after we got there at 1 on a Saturday which can be kind of awkward because there is no lobby or anyplace to wait, but you can always just go pick one of the other 100 restaurants in the plaza.

Came here with the family. This place is as good as I remember it. Beef tendon — So tender and flavorful. A must order if you like tendon. Salt and pepper beef — Salty, crunchy, what’s not to like? Yes, there are bones. Animals have bones. Beef Flat Noodles — Noodles are well cooked. Flavors are on point. Sauteed spinach with garlic — I usually get snow-pea leaves but they only had spinach. Sauteed greens with garlic is a classic dish. Cooked just right. People who complain about the service need to wise up. Chinese people are all about good food. Everything else is a distant second. We don’t mind getting up to get our own utensils or gesturing vigorously to get the attention of the waitstaff. These things do not bother us one bit if the food is good. Do not come here expecting the same service as a western«sit down» restaurant. That’s not what this is and I, for one, would never want it to become that way. Sure they could hire a bunch of aspiring actors and actresses who can describe to you in detail every ingredient in your dish and the minutiae of its preparation, but trust me when I say that you will see every penny of that cost reflected in your bill. This is great food at absurdly low prices. Don’t be a hooligan. Don’t f*ck it up for the rest of us. Order, eat, leave.

I had the lunch here recently and it was horrendous. shrimp and scrambled eggs tasting of freezer burn, salt and pepper pork chop that was ALL bones and very little pork. string beans and minced pork where the pork was overcooked like bits of jerky and the string beans under cooked. Expect a wait here if you come during peak times. This is true of most restaurants in this plaza, but here you are waiting for a dirty table with bad and unclean food. It’s a real shame because this restaurant was one of the best many years ago.

The food is good and there’s a big amount for a low price. This is where you can get authentic Chinese food, they are not afraid to go all out. I usually get the chicken fried rice or the pan fried noodles with chicken, and I get delicious juicy chicken. Also the soup dumpling melts in your mouth. It is the perfect thing too have on a cold winter day. I would recommend the soup noodle with beef. It has a big bold flavor and vegetables to balance everything out. Everything is good there, and trust me I’ve tried everything. You won’t be disappointed. The place may be crowded but it is always worth the wait. Nothing is better than a warm meal here any day of the week. The service is good. They take care of customers well and make sure you enjoy your food. This restaurant may be small but it’s food is big compared to other restaurants!

Bring cash! Food here is cheap and they require a $ 20 minimum. If you’re looking for authentic food this is where you want to go. They have good Asian breakfast foods like green onion pancakes, fried bread, soup dumplings. Pan fried dumplings, and more. They also have a variety of soup and dry noodles. The most popular item seems to be the soup dumplings. I’ve had better. The flavors were good but it was too much skin and little meat. They should probably opt for a smaller dumpling too to maximize flavors. What I really enjoyed here was the spicy beef noodle soup. It was not spicy but the soups flavors were really delicious. The meat was also very tender and paired wonderfully with pickled vegetables. The green onion pancakes are thicker and less greasy than a lot of Asian places so that was enjoyable as well. The only cons are that it’s very small and packed so service is slow. They don’t have a wait list so they base it off of who the customers think were here first. The place is also not the cleanest… but it’s typical of an Asian café.

The Chinatown experience with good, affordable food. Went to Fu Fu Café with some friends on a Saturday evening around 7. All the tables were taken so we had about a 20 min late which is typical for peak dining times. As is the case with most restaurants in Chinatown, they aren’t terribly clean and the service isn’t very friendly but that’s not what you come for. You come for the authentic, affordable Chinese food served family style. We went with the hot and sour soup(5⁄5), green onion pancake(5⁄5), general Tso’s chicken(5⁄5), flat noodles with beef(5⁄5), and the chive dumplings(1⁄5). Everything was fantastic minus the dumplings, just too strong of a taste for me. And they smell too! Wish we would’ve tried a different one of the many dumplings on the menu. Huge menu and there are pictures which makes it easier for those not familiar with authentic Chinese.

I really love the food here! Big amounts for small price! I always get salt and toasted fish filets, green onion pancakes, beef flat noodle(dry), and sometimes hot and spicy chicken. The down side to this place is water refills. I recommend bringing your own water just in case you love drinking water, like me.

Fu Fu’s is our family’s default restaurant when in Chinatown. One of the servers says hello to us in Korean every time LOL. I would recommend the orange sliced beef, yuk choy, seafood stir fried noodles and walnut shrimp as entrees! I personally love the walnut shrimp, but it is a bit on the pricier side. Also, the soup dumplings, while simple, are very tasty. The soup is piping hot so be careful when you take a bite! My family also likes the pork chive dumplings. They are very generous with their portions, so we often have leftovers. This place gets very busy at peak hours, especially weekend nights. Their weekday lunch specials are really good value and portion size, so come during the day if you can!

Located in a popular plaza. Plenty of parking during non peak hours. Because this plaza is so popular, even with all the parking, it can be hard to find parking during the really busy hours. The interior is a bit small. Can’t be described as clean. The service isn’t too bad. That has changed since the first time I’ve been there. Previously, it was pretty bad. Props to the servers though. Sometimes it can be pretty darn busy in there and they only have two people rushing around. The bathroom isn’t very clean. Most of the tables can seat four people. They have one big table that can seat up to 8 people. I have seen them combine smaller tables to help accommodate bigger parties. The food is pretty good. It’s like a good place to compare other good food to I’d say. It’s not particularly expensive or cheap and you probably will probably be satisfied when you leave. All in all, this is a safe bet in Chinatown. Just be careful, sometimes there will be a wait, especially during the peak hours.

Late night foodie adventure! I always come here late at night. During the day, there are better establishments opened for eating. The food here aren’t too bad, but they run on the greasy/oily side. They have lots of dishes to choose from. I usually get the stir fried flat noodles, snow peas or green beans, and spare ribs. Those dishes are yummy and they fill you up fast. The service is nice. The ladies usually don’t speak english too well, but they understand everything and are very prompt with the orders. Whenever I’m craving for a fat asian meal, I come here.

Parking: Large parking lot that is shared with a lot of stores in this shopping plaza. In the afternoon, didn’t have issue finding a spot. At night, you may have to park in one of the two parking garages because it does get quite full. Time and Day: Ate on a Thursday afternoon at 12:30PM with a friend. Restaurant was around 70% full so we were immediately seated. Food: There is a lunch special where dishes cost $ 6.50. I ordered the Hong Sui Beef Tendon($ 6.50) and it was delicious! In case you haven’t tried beef tendon before, think of roasted pig fat but minus the fat and grease. So it is very soft and easy to chew. The beef tendons here are mixed with bits of carrots, spinach and a sauce. Overall, I give the Hong Sui Beef Tendon a(5⁄5). It also comes with white rice so this dish easily filled me up. Service: Average service. They basically seat you, take your order, deliver your food, and give you your check when you are done. No smiling, no talking, maybe check up on you if you need refills on your water, and basically there is little interaction with you unless you call them over. They just do their job and that is it. So I won’t say the service here sucks but it isn’t great either. Service here is an average(3⁄5). Price: $ 6.50 for my dish and I had leftovers for the next day. I say the price is really cheap for the amount of food you get here. Definitely worth the price tag. Overall: The food was good, service was mediocre, but the prices are so cheap for the amount of food you get. Overall, I come back to this place when I am in the mood for chinese food.

For those that are unfamiliar with certain dishes, this is a great place to have a nice meal. They have a rather eclectic menu, ranging from Northern Chinese style boiled dumplings, a bit of Western China’s sandwiches, Shanghainse style soup dumplings, and everything inbetween. With no dish that I saw being more than ~15 dollars, this is a great affordable restaurant serving good Chinese food. Being from Northern China, I grew up with a lot of wheat and noodles. I ordered a been and scallion pancake, garlic chive and pork dumplings, tang bao, and a couple of pork bings. With each dish only at about 6 dollars, I thought the portion size would be pretty small. OHWAS I WRONG TWO big pancakes, a full plate of dumplings, and a couple of pork bings, and four large tang bao. If you grew up Chinese and your parents made dumplings for you, you can definitely tell when they cop’ed out and used store bought dough(ew) and when they made the dough from scratch. This place definitely had that«made at home» feel for their dumplings. The beef scallion pancake was a little bit too oily, but tasted good nonetheless. My only real complaint was that they crowded the tang bao in the steamer, which made them stick together. When you try to separate them, the soup just flows out into the plate D: I’ll definitely be coming back here to try their other styles food as well and not just their carb options xD.

I’m not sure how this place survives in Chinatown where so many tasty, authentic Asian restaurants thrive. We came here during the weekday for lunch and the restaurant was full — a good omen, or so I thought. The host pointed out a large round table, capable of seating perhaps 8 – 10, where a couple had just been seated, and asked if we minded sharing the table with them. We were hungry and it didn’t look like any other tables were opening up any time soon, so we accepted the offer. Thank goodness the friendly couple didn’t mind, either. After perusing the menu, we selected a few, pretty basic items: ja jiang noodles, fried cruller + soybean milk, panfried dumplings, and roasted beef pancake. The small restaurant cranked food out at a surprising rate. Our dishes came out at different times, which didn’t really matter since we were sharing them. Ja Jiang Noodles — Decent rendition of Ja Jiang noodles. The sauce had the characteristic ground pork stirfried in a dark, salty, soybean paste. A small handful of sliced cucumbers provided a refreshing crunch to the dish. The noodles themselves were soft and slightly overcooked. Fried Cruller + Soybean Milk — The cruller tasted a little bit dry. It was either over-fried or a touch stale… regardless, it came out piping hot and crispy. Soybean milk was sweetened and warmed. Happily, it had no gritty bean remnants floating around. Panfried Dumplings — This dish is where things went really, really bad. The dumplings were piled in a soggy, glistening pile in the middle of a pool of oil. Not a splash, not a puddle, but a POOL. You didn’t even have to tip the plate to see the oil gathering at the bottom and when you did, the 2 tablespoons of oil was impressively disgusting. When we asked to have the dish taken back, the server says, «Um, well, panfried dumplings are fried in oil.» Even he didn’t sound convinced. My mom: «Yes, we know. We’re Chinese. We know it’s fried in oil. But this? This is gross.» Finally after some more half-hearted arguing, the server agrees to switch the dish for something else. Roasted Beef Pancakes — This looked NOTHING like the picture in the menu. First, the pancake. Instead of the crispy, golden brown exterior and soft, fluffy interior, the pancake looked(and tasted) grayish brown, dry, and quite sad. The beef inside was ice cold and the Hoisin sauce seemed more an afterthought. There was very little cilantro and green onions within. A very sad attempt at a common Chinese dish. Soup Dumplings — We ordered these for the replacement of the panfried dumplings. The bottoms of the skins broke immediately when we tried to pick them up. The top, where the dough is crimped, was dry and tough. The meat inside was very fatty and packed with MSG. Why we thought they might be good after the previous dishes? I don’t know. The food here was really not up to par at all with the other restaurants within the Plaza. Soggy panfried dumplings in oil pools? Dry roasted beef pancakes? Just«meh» soup dumplings? How this place stays open, I don’t know. Unfortunately, none of us will be returning.
