If you’re looking for lackluster, overpriced, glammed up Mexican food, look no further. Frankly I expected a lot more from the POG group. Once was enough for me!

I just drove by this new location. I went to the old one a lot. When it first opened, it was instantly one of my new favorites. It went downhill fast. I gave it multiple tries, always hoping it would give me another experience like my original one. It never did.

Wanted to try this place cause of name and menu… love spicy food! Sat lunch was really empty… only a couple of tables occupied. Good for us cause service was fast. Loved the fresh salsa w/chips…that’s what I usually gets me to return, if I love the salsa! I had the Shrimp Habaneros and I asked for it extra spicy to help my cold… it was great except it was too sweet… I think the sauce has tons of honey… not expecting that… served with rice, sauteed veggies, pico de gallo. Hubby had the Sauteed Flouder w/crabmeat! So yummy!!! Same sides as mine. Our bill was $ 40 but had coupon so we paid $ 22. I would definitely come back and would love to try other items! I love when Mexican restaurants offer seafood!

This review is for the San Felipe location. I have to say that this review is biased by my general opinion that Polo Becera has a far higher opinion of himself than any of his other enterprises would warrant. All of them tend to be overpriced and under-impressive. But, how bad could Tex-Mex be, right? Turns out — pretty horrible! On the plus side, the service was very friendly, parking was free and there was no wait for a table. Also the habanero salsa was kind of good, although we needed to add a bunch of salt to the nasty chips to be able to enjoy it. On the minus side, this was way worse than basic Tex-Mex. There were an assortment of weird flavors from the bitter off-flavor of «our best» appetizer to the lighter fluid scented beef in the fajitas. The $ 11.95 margaritas were nearly undrinkable(way too sweet on the first try and heinously sour on the second). We had to come home and make our own margaritas to block out the horror of this meal. Maybe it’s the curse of this location — how many blighted restaurants have occupied this site?
